Chapter 293: Do You Believe I Can Kill You All?_2
Because this person named Ulysses was a white glove used for his embezzlement.
"And you, Senator Maltis..."
In the time that followed, Director David, using an external auditing function, identified corruption and embezzlement crimes committed by over ten officials present.
This also plunged the atmosphere at the scene into an icy freeze.
"I won't bother to name the rest of you, I'm fully aware of the offenses each of you has committed, but that's not what I'm here for today. As I said, all I want is this Bitcoin tax payment; give it to me, and I'll turn around and leave. Whatever you did or will do has nothing to do with me, is that clear?"
Beyond Bitcoin, the embezzlement and bribery of these officials, and the private gain from their power, also amounted to a significant sum of taxes, but Director David thought it over and decided to leave them some leeway.
After all, if he could collect the Bitcoin tax, it would be a sizeable sum now and in the future; there was no need to push them into a corner for that other tax revenue.
With those words, the atmosphere at the scene turned utterly silent; all members of the Illuminati wore gloomy expressions, and none seemed inclined to speak.
Director David turned to Archbishop Augustine and asked, "Archbishop Augustine, since you invited me here today, you must give me an answer."
"What if we don't pay?"
"Don't pay?"
Director David let out a cold laugh and replied, "Bitcoin will collapse, and not a single one of you Illuminati members who has committed crimes will escape!"
Archbishop Augustine seemed to be amused with irritation and then ominously said, "David, do you know how Kennedy died?"
"So what?"
"Although our Illuminati does not act as oppressively as Freemasonry, we are not afraid to do oppressive things!"
His words were essentially a threat that just as Freemasonry dared to kill Kennedy for crossing their interests, the Illuminati would not hesitate to eradicate David for crossing theirs.
Director David obviously understood; he leaned back slightly and crossed his arms over his chest, with a look of disdain he said, "Archbishop Augustine, do you think I came here on a fishing boat? To put it unpleasantly, my fleet is out there. Just one order from me, and I could blow up this island, kill all of you, and nothing would happen, do you believe that?"
If they were threatening his life, then continuing to talk nicely would be cowardly.
"Slap!!!
"Bang!!!
Many members of the Illuminati could no longer endure it and slammed the table, smacked their chairs, and stood up.
However, many stayed calm, quickly pulling those who were about to lose their temper, attempting to prevent the situation from escalating further.
After all, today they truly faced an armed fleet, and they surely could not match them in terms of military power.
And there was another important point.
That was the fact that today's negotiations were not widely known, and their Illuminati Island did not officially exist in the world.
If Director David truly lost his temper and had the fleet obliterate the island, killing everyone on it, who would stand up for them?
"Enough!"
Archbishop Sandy clearly realized the situation could not continue to escalate and looked at Director David, saying, "Director David, today we've come to negotiate, not to fight and kill. We, the Illuminati, promote wealth in harmony, and since your IRS is only after money, just tell us how much to pay and we will!"
"Archbishop Sandy..."
"Shut up!"
Edgar was about to say something, but before he could speak, Sandy angrily interrupted him, leaving Edgar no choice but to close his mouth.
"As you said, we too would like to avoid any violent incidents. If you can peacefully pay this tax, then on behalf of the IRS, I will thank you."
Watching as Sandy and the others tacitly agreed to his terms, David spoke again, "All right, since we've settled this matter, I'll calculate the taxes and send you the bills after I return."
Having said this, he stood up, but just as he was about to leave, it seemed he remembered something. He walked up to Augustine, extended his hand, and said with a kind smile, "Thank you for your cooperation."
Augustine clenched and unclenched his teeth, but ultimately, very reluctantly, he reached out and shook David's hand.

Next, David shook hands with the other two archbishops and then strode off confidently.
As he left, Augustine could no longer hide his anger. He swept a water glass from the table to the floor, cursing, "Damn it."
Edgar, feeling indignant, asked, "Are we just going to submit like this?"
"Do we have a choice? If we don't submit, just him targeting Bitcoin could immediately risk its collapse," someone responded.
"The bastard is indeed detestable, but aside from Bitcoin, he has so many of us in his grip with other incriminating information. He's difficult to deal with," another added.
"When did he even start investigating us, shit..." another murmured incredulously.
The Illuminati were not used to being treated in such a manner, but they were without options. First, they were overpowered by the heavily armed National Revenue Service today; second, David had them by the throat with both Bitcoin and their corruption offenses, which was why they had to swallow these insults.
"Regardless, we cannot let this matter rest. The loss of profit is the lesser issue; losing the face of the Illuminati is the greater!" Augustine declared.
It was no exaggeration that even the powerful Illuminati would not dare to treat them with such disrespect. Instead, now David was the one being so presumptuous.
He'd even threatened to level their Illuminati Island and kill everyone there. If they did not retaliate, the Illuminati could no longer claim to be one of the most powerful organizations in the world.
"Looking at the current situation, if we take action, it would be a pyrrhic victory, so I think we cannot act directly..." Sandy pondered, stroking his chin.
Compared to the others, Sandy was calm today. He was very aware that although David had left, they still couldn't retaliate, for risk of Bitcoin's collapse, and many of their members could be arrested by the National Revenue Service on charges of tax evasion.
Edgar immediately asked, "Then Archbishop Sandy, what do you think we should do?"
"Isn't Freemasonry in conflict with him? Maybe we can go talk to Freemasonry and let them deal with David!" Sandy suggested.
"Right, due to the Swiss Bank and the Disney Sackler Family's affairs, Freemasonry indeed loathes David. We might use Freemasonry's hand to get rid of him!" another voice chimed in.
"I've received some information. Freemasonry indeed plans to deal with David, but because of the W Act, they've been stymied by the Ansa Group intervening. So, they plan to wait until the act passes before making their move on David," Sandy revealed.
"..."
Sandy's idea of using another to kill their target instantly gained the approval of almost everyone present.
Freemasonry itself was very powerful, and with the support of the Illuminati behind them, it wouldn't just be David; even the National Revenue Service might find it difficult to cope, wouldn't they?
Thinking this, everyone who had been fuming a moment ago suddenly felt a bit better.
"Edgar, when you return to America, go talk to the people in Freemasonry, see what we can do for them. I'm entrusting this task to you!"
"Okay, Archbishop Sandy," Edgar replied.
...
Meanwhile, David had boarded a plane back to the USS Washington.
Lindon greeted him immediately, asking, "How did it go, Director David? Did you take care of everything?"
"It's done. Let's set sail back to Los Angeles," David responded.
Lindon really wanted to know what had occurred on the island and who was there but, after hesitating for a while, he ultimately didn't dare ask. All he could do was order his subordinates to make way for their return voyage.
