Chapter 64: Time Together

After Ozpin explained everything to Weiss and Yang, things have been calm. Ryder even told RNJR, Weiss and Yang about his ability to tap into Magic. Let's just say Nora wanted him to do magic tricks. But with some free time given to them by Ozpin, Ryder used this free time to spend it with his friends. But he wanted to use his time to spend it with a certain someone. Weiss. Though, he was nervous to ask her to hang out for the day. So, there he was in his room pacing back and forth with the door to his room open. Walking down the hall was Qrow who took notice that Ryder's door was open but didn't peak inside until he passed the door and caught him pacing in the corner of his eye. With curiosity getting the better of him, Qrow steps into the doorway and watched Ryder pace back and forth.

"Something on your mind?" Qrow asked.

Startled, Ryder stopped pacing and turned towards Qrow. He sighs as he sees its just Qrow.

"You scared me." Ryder said.

Qrow gave out a quick chuckle.

"Sorry." Qrow apologized. "Besides me scaring you, something on your mind kid?"

"You could say that." Ryder said, walking over to a bed and sitting down.

Qrow walked into the room and grabbed a chair. Placing the chair in front of Ryder, Qrow sits down.

"Is this about the Dragon Balls?" Qrow asked.

"No something else." Ryder said. "With all the time Ozpin gave us, I kind of want to spend it with... Weiss."

Qrow heard this and slowly a smile came to his face as he chuckled lightly while shaking his head and looking down. He lifts his head and looked at Ryder who gave him a look for laughing.

"I see what's going on." Qrow said with a smirk. "You have a thing for the Ice Queen, don't you?"

"Maaaybe." Ryder admits.

"There's no use in hiding it, buddy." Qrow said. "We all saw how you called her beautiful when you first laid eyes on her after she returned."

Ryder's face lit up with a shade of red as he then blushed in embarrassment. Qrow let out a hearty laugh. This only made Ryder cover his face with his hands. After Qrow calmed down he asked Ryder a question.

"So..." Qrow said, calming down from laughing. "When will you ask her out?"

"Please don't call it that." Ryder cringed nervously. "It's just a time between friends."

"Suuure." Qrow said, doubting him completely.

"But to answer your question. I'm not sure how to ask her." Ryder said. "Any advice?"

"Just be yourself." Qrow said. "No need for anything fancy."

"You sure?" Ryder asked.

"Look at it this way. You've known each other for a while. Your friends and it's obvious you wish to be more than friends." Qrow said. "So just be yourself and ask her like any other normal person."

"Sounds... simple enough." Ryder commented.

Qrow stood up from the chair and turned to the door.

"Good luck, Ryder. You'll need it." Qrow said as he walked out the door.

Ryder then sat there in the room for a few minutes before he mustered up enough courage to do what he planned. Ask Weiss to spend the day together. He didn't want to call it a date, but that's basically what it is. Even he must admit that he's basically asking Weiss out on a date. All it does is make him more nervous. What if she says no? He tried his best to shake those thoughts out of his mind. As he left the room, he begins to search the house for Weiss. After a bit of searching, he finds her walking out of one of the rooms with Yang and Ruby with her. They must've been talking about something. As he walked down the hall towards them, he got nervous. He does his best to shake it off.

"Hey um... Weiss?" Ryder asked.

Weiss, Yang and Ruby turned to the sound of his voice and all looked at him.

"Would you be willing to venture around the city with me?" Ryder asked. "J-Just for the day."

Both Ruby and Yang gasp in a happy fashion with wide eyes and big smiles on their faces. Weiss doesn't see this as her back is to her teammates. Weiss is caught off guard by the offer but smiles and it's a genuine smile.

"I would love to." Weiss said.

"Great! Uh, when do you want to head out?" Ryder asked, glad that she was willing to spend some time with him.

"We can head out now if you want." Weiss said.

"Works for me." Ryder said.

Ryder motioned for Weiss to lead the way, and he then noticed what Ruby and Yang were doing, as Weiss walked past him. Both were giving a thumbs up as a silent gesture saying, "good luck." Ryder then follows Weiss down the hall. The duo leaves the house, and they're adventure around Mistral City began. They didn't really have a designated destination; it was just a wonder around till we find something cool type of adventure. Most of the time they talked and caught up. Ryder talked about his Magical abilities and how his training was coming along and Weiss mostly talked about what she's been doing since Beacon fell. They eventually found an ice cream vendor and did get Ice cream together. Ryder tried out a flavor he'd never heard of before and liked it. They then found a good spot to take in the view of the mountains.

(I don't know how to write date scenes okay?)

So, there they stood, side by side by a cliff edge that had a railing to prevent people from falling. They both looked off into the distance. They're hands on the railing.

"Today was fun." Weiss said. "Despite us not having a direction to follow."

"Yeah, I know. I should've planned. But I've never been to Mistral before." Ryder said.

"A fair argument." Weiss said. "But had this been your home, what would you have done?"

Ryder then thought about it.

"Well, if this was Earth. I'd know a few places where we could watch a good movie or even better find really awesome views." Ryder answered.

"Really?" Weiss asked.

"Yep. While I don't want to brag, but Earth has some pretty beautiful views." Ryder said, in a mock smug expression.

"Is that so?" Weiss asked, sounding like she's accepting a challenge while looking at him.

"It is." Ryder said, his own challenging tone as he looked back at her.

For a moment, it was silence. Then the two bust out laughing before returning their gazes to the horizon. After they calmed down from laughing, Weiss inched her hand closer to Ryder's. She then gently placed her hand over his. Ryder felt this and turned his hand around to hold her hand. Both get a blush on their cheeks. Ryder wanted to tell her how he felt about her. He really did, but he was just too nervous to say it. Little did Ryder know, Weiss was going through the same dilemma.
