Ancestral Wealth Inheritance System
Chapter 284: Am I Offering a Bounty for Myself?
```
"Get... get a side job..." The expression on Zhuo Shangke's face on the other end of the phone looked as if he had suffered constipation for three days and then had diarrhea; the value was both bitter and stinky.
Getting a side job and producing 20 papers in world-class journals—then why do we need scientists at all? The key point was, besides hearing about Fang Jueyu gallivanting around showing off, he hadn't heard of him conducting any research in a lab.
How exactly were these papers and research data produced? Could it be he tinkered them out in his home laboratory?
But none of that really mattered because no one else had ever produced or published these achievements. Even if he wanted to plagiarize, there wasn't anywhere to plagiarize from; the only explanation was he really did create these breakthroughs in human progress all on his own.
"Young Fang, you really gave those stubborn old folks a resounding slap in the face. I bet their faces are all swollen by now."
Twenty papers in *Nature* and *Science* were enough to outshine all the professors in school, except those with national achievement awards.
"Well, there was no choice. Since they thought I was too young and inexperienced, I had to come up with some accomplishments to show them," Fang Jueyu shrugged innocently.
He was the type of person who, if he did something, he had to do it to the extreme.
Zhuo Shangke couldn't imagine that Fang Jueyu's articles were the discounted version; if he organized the most advanced things he learned, those editors and professors might not even understand them, and they might reject them outright.
"You've really stirred up a hornet's nest. Now the entire Huaxia academic world is abuzz about you, and the internet is on fire. You really have no idea how to keep a low profile." Zhuo Shangke laughed, "Two articles would've settled the matter, but you went and published twenty; how many people are you trying to scare?"
"Hehehe." Fang Jueyu chuckled mischievously; that was his goal.
"Okay, I've got to go see the president now; I bet things are chaotic there too." Zhuo Shangke hung up after greeting him.
Fang Jueyu logged into his Weibo account. The news of him publishing 20 papers in *Nature* and *Science* had exploded. Such a bombshell even surpassed many showbiz scandals.
As the quality of Huaxia's citizens increased, research was becoming more visible to the public, and many researchers received attention comparable to celebrities.
"Offering a bounty for the dean's head, I want to know how his brain is different from ours—not only can he make money, but he can also do research. I'm impressed."
"Should I tell you that I don't even understand half the titles of those articles? I'm a graduate from some 985 university, and I feel like I attended a fake school."
"You're not alone, I'm a Ph.D. from Qingbei University, and I also don't understand half of these papers' titles. I'm just going to apply to defer my graduation; I don't think I'm fit to graduate!"
"Dean, come clean. Did you steal an alien's USB and learn all their tech?"
"Now I understand why the dean is so rich; scientific technology is the primary productive force. Converting any of these research achievements into industry would make a fortune!"
"Just asking, what is EGFR?"
"Russian lunatic, Russian madman."
"Starving Pigeon Ninjutsu, a technique invented by the Eastern Bandit Nation to starve pigeon handlers!"
...
"Here comes my favorite web users' BS explanation segment!"
Of course, besides praise, there were skeptical voices online.
"Dig deeper into this matter. How could a 21-year-old make groundbreaking progress in 20 fields? Even achieving one a year would take 20 years; isn't this a bit too hard to believe?"
"I suspect he bought someone else's research and published it under his own name. With his ability as the world's richest, it should be easy."
"Above analysis makes sense; an in-depth investigation is necessary."
"Pft, you're just jealous of me!" Fang Jueyu didn't take those comments to heart. Given what he had accomplished, it's understandable that it went beyond ordinary comprehension.
Fang Jueyu immediately posted an update.
"I understand your doubts. Geniuses are generally difficult to comprehend. I guarantee all the research results are my own work. If any transactions exist, I'm open to public scrutiny. If someone finds evidence, I'll reward them with 100 million!"
As soon as he made this statement, the comments section blew up with a new, interesting catchphrase popping up online within minutes.
"Am I actually putting a bounty on myself?"
Although this quip was hilarious, it perfectly summarized Fang Jueyu's behavior. Some suspected him of falsifying results, yet instead of getting angry, he even offered a reward for evidence of his fraud; could there be a bolder move?
If it wasn't a PR stunt, it definitely showed his confidence—did Fang Jueyu need publicity at this point?
"The dean is bold; those skeptical people better shut your canine mouths!"
"Roll, roll, roll, stop asking for trouble. If you're capable, go find evidence! The dean promised a billion, a billion will be there. Only an idiot wouldn't take it!"
"Anyone want to help me find evidence? We'll split the money (dog head for mercy)."
"Second Battalion Commander, bring out my Italian…pasta for our friends to taste!"
"Above, didn't hold my blade; remember to watch your words in the next life!"
...
"President, it's a big deal, a big deal indeed!" Zhuo Shangke dashed into the president's office with a bright face. As the recommender, Fang Jueyu's sensational deed brought glory to him too!
But upon entering, he was dumbfounded to see the office packed with professors and scholars.
"Mr. Zhuo, I've already heard about it."
"President, there should be no doubt about Fang Jueyu's professorship now, right?" Zhuo Shangke scanned the professors who voted against him, making them bow their heads in shame.
"Sigh, it's not about the professorship anymore," the president sighed, sounding worried. "It's about whether we can keep him now."
Although Jiangnan University was among the top three in Huaxia, there were many schools ranking higher globally—Harvard University, Stanford University, Oxford University, Yale University, and so on.
With someone capable of publishing 20 top-tier journal papers at once, would these universities let him slip through their fingers? They'd certainly offer generous conditions to lure him away.
In fact, Fang Jueyu wouldn't need to do anything; just having his name associated with their school would be a great brand. By comparison, Jiangnan University lacked competitiveness, not to mention they had recently disheartened Fang Jueyu.
"Hmph! It's all due to you stubborn old goats!" Zhuo Shangke grumbled irritably, "Last week, couldn't we have simply granted him the professorship? Then Fang Jueyu would already be a great asset for our school. In a year or two we'd be the top university in Huaxia, making Qingbei University and Yanjing University afraid to compete with us!"
"Hmph! Short-sighted fools!" Zhuo Shangke, with his fiery temper, began hurling colorful language around.
Those professors couldn't utter a word in anger, knowing their worth paled in comparison to Fang Jueyu.
"Let's see how you guys end this now!" Zhuo Shangke didn't bother with them; the university would handle it. He just waited to watch the drama unfold.
