Chapter 68 Accident
The deep purple sports car sped down the street. Even in such an international tourist metropolis, cars like this were rare. No matter where it went, this car was always a striking sight.
Through casual conversation with Su Lun and others, Fang Jueyu learned that the purpose of this gathering was quite simple. It was just a friendly meet-up among the big shots in the entertainment industry. In Huaxia's entertainment circle, only a few big players existed, and everyone needed a regular gathering to develop relationships and make the industry prosper.
Many "Crown Princes" and "Princesses" from the entertainment industry attended this grand event with their parents, hoping to broaden their horizons. The scale was so large that bumping into a young person on the road could very well mean encountering the future successor of an entertainment company.
The Edison Hotel was one of the most outstanding hotels in Sanya. Built by the sea, its decor was well-suited for vacationing, featuring numerous amusement parks, pools, and other entertainment facilities. Among five-star hotels, it offered great value. "We seem to have arrived a bit late!" As they drove into the hotel, there were almost no available parking spaces left, which made Fang Jueyu a bit frustrated. Cars were nice and all, but finding a parking spot could drive someone mad.
"Young Master, have you ever seen someone have to find a parking space at their own hotel?" Zhuang Ying tapped her forehead. "The underground parking lot has a dedicated garage reserved for you!"
"Huh? Is that so? Why didn't you say earlier?" Fang Jueyu muttered. He hadn't asked, but thinking it over, he realized he might have underestimated his own standing a bit.
Fang Jueyu displayed his poor sense of direction to the fullest, circling the hotel for quite a while before finally finding the entrance to the underground garage.
Just as he was about to drive the car down, a brand-new Bentley sped out of the garage. Even though Fang Jueyu's quick reflexes allowed him to turn the steering wheel to avoid a collision, it was still unavoidable, and they crashed.
"Boom!" When Fang Jueyu heard that noise, he felt a pang in his heart. He had been driving this car for less than half a month. Though its body was specially made to remain undamaged even when colliding with a mountain at a speed of 100 kilometers per hour, it didn't mean that the car wouldn't get hurt.
"Are you okay, Sister Ying?" Fang Jueyu turned his head to check on Zhuang Ying.
"I'm fine!" The sudden braking had caused her lip to get slightly bitten, but fortunately, it was nothing serious.
"Who the hell drives like that?" Fang Jueyu got out of the car, his face carrying a dangerous glint. They had been driving slowly and cautiously, without breaking any traffic rules, while the Bentley was clearly at fault.
At this point, the owner of the Bentley also stepped out of his car. A young man and woman, likely a couple, the man was in casual attire, wearing a baseball cap, and a silver chain around his neck. His hair was dyed gray. If one had to find a word to describe him, "non-mainstream" might be the most fitting.
The young woman was fairly attractive, but there was a pervasive air of pretentiousness about her, leaving an unpleasant impression at first glance.
"Hey, how did you drive this?" Before Fang Jueyu could say anything, the young man accused him.
Fang Jueyu didn't even glance at him, walking quietly to the side of his car. Thanks to his timely maneuver, the cars only grazed each other, yet there was a long scratch near the front lights.
Fortunately, because the car's material was robust, it only suffered some minor deformation, though it would need some repairs.
The Bentley, on the other hand, was almost a complete wreck where it had been hit, with a broken front light. The disparity in the cars' quality was evident.
"Hey, I'm talking to you! Are you mute?" The young man spoke again, suddenly spotting Zhuang Ying by Fang Jueyu's side, his eyes narrowing slyly as if plotting something.
"How did I drive? Isn't that the question I should be asking you?" Fang Jueyu's gaze turned cold. He rarely got angry, but when he did, his temper could be more formidable than anyone else's.
"You dared to ask me when you made my car look like this?" The young man wore a rogue expression.
Fang Jueyu immediately laughed. How could there still be someone so hell-bent on twisting the truth in the world?
"The speed inside the parking lot shouldn't exceed five kilometers per hour. You were going way over that, not just five, but far beyond 50 kilometers. And you accuse others first?" Fang Jueyu said coldly.
"Sister Ying, help me check how much the repair cost for this kind of damage would be." Although the car's manufacturer was his own family's business, Fang Jueyu wasn't about to let this guy off easily.
Zhuang Ying immediately took photos and sent them to the person in charge at the factory. It didn't take long for a response to come back.
"Young Master, the factory says the repair costs are around 1.28 million." Zhuang Ying said, "Oh right, in US Dollars!"
"Did you hear that? 1.28 million dollars for the repair. Pay up!" Fang Jueyu said lazily.
"Charging 1.28 million dollars for repairing this crappy car? Is this extortion?" The young man immediately showed a menacing face.
"Crappy car? It's normal if you haven't heard of Apollo's Sun God custom edition," Fang Jueyu knew it was unlikely he'd get the repair money, but the party lasted several more hours, and he had time to toy with this rich kid. "This car cost over 12 million dollars to build. Is 1.28 million a lot for repairs?"
Upon hearing the price, the young man realized he had run into a hard nut. His name was Chen Qiao, and his father was Chen Rendong, a shareholder of Huayü, one of the largest entertainment companies in the country. This status almost granted him sway in Huaxia's entertainment circle, yet even Chen Rendong had never driven a sports car of such value.
"Is this also the son of some big shot circle member?" Chen Qiao strained to search his memory for this face. Fang Jueyu's appearance looked somewhat familiar, but he seemingly didn't match any of the untouchable heirs he knew.
"Could he be a star who's just recently risen?" Even though Chen Qiao grew up in the circle, he hadn't paid much attention to the entertainment industry, because, in the eyes of capitalists, no matter how big a star, actor, or singer was, they were just performers. As long as there were enough resources, they could nurture however many they wanted!
And Chen Qiao had only one hobby, playing with minor celebrities. He couldn't care less about anything else. Seeing Fang Jueyu and Zhuang Ying's outstanding looks, it wasn't entirely impossible.
"Which company's artist are you?" Chen Qiao regained a bit of confidence. "My dad is a shareholder of Huayü, and if you don't want to cause trouble for yourself, you better scram quickly!"
"A shareholder of Huayü? What's that?" Fang Jueyu knew about Huayü, but he remembered the boss's surname should be Xiang. This guy was probably the son of a minor shareholder. But even the real boss of Huayü showed up, it wouldn't make him flinch a bit!
"So, you don't plan to pay for my car?"
