Chapter 13: Chapter 137 - Punch
Jay-Jay's POV
"I'm going to kill Edy!" Ci-N shouted.
"His name isn't Edy!" Josh snapped, frustrated, as he tried to move the cat away from Ci-N.
They had been like this since yesterday. After getting an anti-rabies shot, Ci had recovered and immediately went looking for the cat.
Josh must have lost his mind because he stubbornly held onto the cat and refused to let go.
"Take care of that cat!" Ci-N insisted.
"But he bit me, Jay…" Josh whined, tears in his eyes.
I scratched the back of my neck. Honestly, it was his own fault he got bitten. Who pokes a cat while it's eating?
"That's on you," Mayo chimed in, stroking Edy's head.
"I fed him, and he bit me!" Ci complained.
"You do realize he's a cat, not a dog? What were you expecting?" Josh scolded.
"Fine! Keep defending that cat!" Ci huffed and suddenly hugged me. "...They're all against me."
But the hug was short-lived as we quickly pulled apart. We both turned to look in the same direction.
Yuri…
"You're getting too close to Jay-Jay. Maybe you should tone it down a little," Yuri remarked.
Ci didn't respond, but I could tell from his expression that he was wondering what Yuri's problem was. Yuri walked away, but we all continued watching him.
He looked jealous again.
Speaking of jealousy, I glanced at Keifer. He was staring straight at me, his expression unreadable. Was he mad? Or something else?
I looked away, but for some reason, my gaze kept returning to him. Then, out of nowhere, he blinked.
Oh no. Not this again.
The guy was sharp—like a blade. I even felt like he was testing me. This was getting exhausting.
"Are you and Yuri together now?" Mayo asked me.
I quickly shook my head. "N-no."
"Then why is he acting like that? Like he owns you or something?" Ci added.
"W-what? It's just… B-because…"
Ugh, this is annoying!
Because it's Yuri! I didn't know how to respond. This was frustrating!
"It's like you don't even know Yuri. He was like this with Ella before," Josh suddenly commented.
"Hahaha… yeah," Mayo agreed. "...And in the end, BH ended up being your groupmate." He laughed.
Hearing that irritated me. They were making fun of something that had hurt Yuri deeply. Like they hadn't been through tough times themselves.
I stood up and walked away. I heard Ci calling me, but I ignored him. I left the room and headed straight to the second floor of our building.
The wind was strong up there, and the fresh air helped clear my mind. When I arrived, I found Kit standing there.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
He looked at me and forced a smile. "Nothing… I just needed to be alone."
"Same here," I said, walking over. "...So, how are things with you and… uh, Mayo?"
"I don't know. He keeps teasing me, but I don't feel the same way. I want to work on myself first."
"There's nothing wrong with you, you know? Being part of the third gender isn't a flaw," I reassured him.
He met my gaze. "That's easy for you to say. You're not in my shoes."
I fell silent. He had a point. I wasn't in his position, so I had no right to speak as if I understood.
"Maybe… But you didn't choose to be this way. There's always a reason behind everything," I said.
He let out a short laugh. "That's just it. I wish I had been given a choice before ending up like this."
"You never know… everything happens for a reason."
We both fell into silence. It was a little awkward, but the strong wind filled the emptiness.
"I might go through with my plan. Maybe it'll work, and I'll become a 'real' man again," he said, leaning in close to me.
I clenched my fist. "Try kissing me again, and see what happens," I warned.
Kit suddenly burst into laughter.
I shot him a glare. Crazy guy. I swear, I'm done with this nonsense.
Just then, the bell rang—it was time for class.
"Let's go," he said.
I nodded, and we walked toward the stairs together. But as soon as we reached them, we froze.
Someone was standing there, watching us. His face was a mix of surprise, shock, and anger.
"D-did you just kiss Jay-Jay?" Mayo asked.
Kit didn't respond. Instead, he walked past him without a word. I immediately followed.
"Wait! I'm still talking to you!" Mayo shouted.
Kit ignored him and kept walking. We were nearly inside the classroom when Mayo suddenly grabbed Kit's arm.
They locked eyes, both filled with hostility.
"Let go of me," Kit said coldly.
"I'm not done talking!" Mayo snapped.
Honestly, I had no idea what to do. This wasn't my fight—I wasn't part of their love life.
I kept walking toward the classroom, but just as I passed them, a hand grabbed me.
"Just stay here," Kit said.
Mayo immediately shot me a glare.
Why is he mad at me?!
"Is it Jay-Jay? Is she the reason?" he demanded, looking at Kit.
I quickly shook my head. "Hey, no!"
"Then why did you kiss him?! Oh, I get it! You wanted to! Wow! You've already got Keifer and Yuri, and now you're after Kit too?!" he snapped at me, clearly frustrated.
I frowned. What was he even trying to say?
Kit didn't hesitate—he grabbed Mayo by the collar. "Don't talk to Jay-Jay like that!" he warned.
"Why? Because it's true?! She's no different from Ell—"
Before he could finish, Kit's fist connected with his face.
Mayo hit the ground. I gasped in shock, and the commotion immediately drew others from inside the room.
"What's going on?!" Edrix rushed over, quickly helping Mayo up.
"He was being rude, so I punched him," Kit responded nonchalantly before heading back inside.
The rest of us stood there, stunned.
Mayo got back on his feet, shaking off Edrix's support, and glared at me.
"We need to talk," he said firmly, grabbing my wrist and pulling me away from the group.
"W-wait! Mayo, you're hurting me!" I protested, trying to yank my hand free.
He dragged me to a quieter spot beside the classroom, where a tree stood. I finally managed to pull my hand away with force.
"What's your problem?!" I snapped at him.
"Do you like Kit?!" he shouted angrily.
"I don't like him at all!" I yelled back.
"He kissed you, and you kissed him back!"
"You idiot! I didn't kiss him! He tried, but it didn't happen! I didn't kiss him!" My voice was hoarse from yelling.
Mayo was so thick-headed he needed to be shouted at to understand. In my frustration, I had completely forgotten how close we were to the classroom—someone might have overheard us.
"Who tried to kiss you?" a voice suddenly asked.
Mayo and I turned at the same time to see who had spoken.
It was exactly who I was afraid of.
Edrix stood there, staring at us, clearly having heard everything.
"...Who?" he repeated, his expression serious.
"It's nothing… You misheard," I quickly answered, hoping to cover it up.
"But you were yelling so loud—"
"Edrix, please!" I interrupted, practically pleading.
I couldn't let him find out. If Keifer heard about this, there was no telling what he'd do to Kit.
"Does Keifer know?" Edrix pressed.
I shook my head immediately and stepped closer. "P-please don't tell him. I'm begging you."
"But Jay—"
"Don't bother with it!" Mayo cut in angrily.
Edrix's expression darkened. He was clearly annoyed by Mayo's attitude.
"What's your problem?!" he snapped.
"This is between me and her!" Mayo shot back, pointing at me.
"Don't lay a hand on Jay-Jay!" Edrix shouted, stepping forward aggressively.
I quickly moved between them, forcing them apart. If I didn't stop them now, things would escalate. If the others came out to see what was happening, they'd find out what Kit had done.
"What?! Did she fall for your tricks too?!" Mayo taunted, his voice dripping with arrogance. He pointed at me again. "Nice! Flirt your way through all of Section E, huh? You're no different from Ella!"
"What did you just say?!" Edrix growled, about to lunge at him.
I didn't let him finish.
There was no point in wasting words on Mayo. I took matters into my own hands.
Before I knew it, my fist had connected with his face.
"J-Jay… He's bleeding," Edrix murmured, glancing down at Mayo, who had collapsed onto the ground.
Oh no.
I messed up.
My punch had been too strong. His nose was bleeding.
Great. Just great. Hopefully, I didn't break any bones.
