Chapter 135: Chapter 135
"We're almost done. Just gotta make sure the wires aren't loose." Mr Ogata adjusted the carrier holding the meteorite in place. The team including Chachamaru gathered beside the truck at the entrance of Dice and Roll Valley.
Chachamaru smirked and stretched his arms to ease the tension in his muscles from carrying the meteorite over a long distance. "Man that's a good work out." He thanked Akagi and Kurai for that.
"Over there! I see them!"
Everybody spun around to see Douma, Shinobu, and Yushiro running towards them from the forest. The violette pointed in their direction, seemingly pleased to see the group working together cooperatively to get the meteorite to Atlas.
"About time. What took you so long? We were all worried about you guys!" Chachamaru asked, the others nodded.
"Oh it's nothing we were just dealing with some troublemakers back there that's all." Douma replied, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Yeah scary ones-" Yushiro ducked down when Shinobu gave him a cold glare.
Chachamaru raised his eyebrow at Yushiro and Shinobu. "We heard explosions." The large tail swaying back and forth was a sign that Chachamaru didn't buy any of his friends' explanations, he demanded an answer.
Douma stepped forward. "I guess there's no point hiding the truth anymore is there? Yushiro why don't you explain everything that happened right from the beginning?" The angel turned to Yushiro who gave him a blank stare.
"M-me? Of all people-" Yushiro gulped, both Douma and Shinobu already know where the yokai came from. He felt his friends' eyes peering into him from all sides, it made him eager to dig a hole in his spot.
The green-haired teen huffed. "It was because of that statue OK?!"
Loud laughter erupted from Chachamaru, "That's why you should always watch your step Yushiro I know how clumsy you can be. Man you were such a wreck when I saw you in that forest. All because of a cursed statue."
Yushiro snorted. He looked away from his friends, muttering to himself.
"I suppose there were other statues on Twin Island as well. Breaking one summons all of them. These yokai were sealed away for centuries." Douma added.
"Wow Dice and Roll Valley sure is crazy," Chachamaru looked around him. "Anyways what are we waiting for? Let's bring this meteorite to Atlas!"
"Aw man looks like our time here is over." Yushiro sighed.
The feline hopped right in front of them, raising his index finger as though he was about to give a lecture which intrigued Yushiro because he might have something important to say.
"Those organizers must have a lot to share with their colleagues. Banri and Ime couldn't be happier, Atlas finally found the meteorite after many years of research. It's been entrusted to them."
Shinobu smiled, holding onto the butterfly necklace that sparkled like a gem. "I'm glad you guys found the meteorite. It all paid off."
Chachamaru's ears perked up. "It sure did." He said, scratching the back of his head cheerfully.
When he glanced at Douma, wondering why the blonde wasn't saying anything he saw him looking at Shinobu worriedly. The blonde looked up at the feline with a 'How should I tell her?' look to which Chachamaru immediately shook his head and mouthed the words "Maybe after this, take it slow don't make her panic," pointing at the meteorite on the carrier of the truck.
There isn't any way to avoid that she's definitely going to be terrified for her life. Douma stared at the ground, besides thinking of a way to explain to Shinobu about The Chaos' plans in the least intimidating way possible though it was unlikely that she won't feel distress after hearing it. Who wouldn't? Especially when it involves someone interfering with your conscious state.
I have to tell her as soon as possible. The Chaos is still on the hunt for his candidates, who knows what could happen if we don't act fast. The smooth fingers of Shinobu wrapped around the butterfly in her hands. She brought it close to her, that gorgeous smile forming on her face that Douma adored. Shinobu shouldn't have to live in fear, learning about the vendetta was difficult enough, having to deal with a power-hungry entity now as a whole new level of unsettlement.
Douma glimpsed at Shinobu again. The problem is, what can Shinobu do to prevent The Chaos from reaching her? He could trick her...
The blonde's fingers curled into fists.
"Hey Douma! What are you waiting for? Let's go!" Shinobu called out to him in a sweet voice that he wished he didn't have to feel a wave of sorrow from hearing.
"Uh yeah wait for me!" He said, catching up to Shinobu and the others.

The three yokai, Aka Manto, Sukimori, and Junbo stood on the cliff towering over the entirety of Dice and Roll Valley, watching the sunset.
In front of them stood two tombs that they gazed upon sadly.
"We'll always remember the bond we had together." Junbo said, the other two beside him acknowledging his words in silence.
All three of them lowered their heads, putting their hands together as Aka Manto spoke. "Thank you for all the great times we had, Yurei and Hitotsume. You won't be left in vain, for justice will always prevail."
"Rest well my dear friends, never falter that smile of yours." The images of Yurei's smile and Hitotsume's enthusiasm flashed in Sukimori's mind. The kitsune sat down and reminisced the memories that came his way like a melody.
A flock of birds flew to the sky from the trees, flapping their wings and chirping like a chorus as they made their way towards the horizon.
Every bird that was destined to join this migration dived between branches and soared to the glow shimmering in the crevices of the bundles of leaves in the trees where many birds met up with their families to embark on this journey as one flock.
Standing there while the birds flew into the sky beyond the cliff, Aka Manto, Sukimori, and Junbo watched them gather together, turning into silhouettes the further they flew into the horizon. Reminding them of the freedom they finally got to embrace.
