Chapter 33: Chapter 33: Undaunted Dreams!
"Even after everything I did they still died?" I thought.
"Yeah how's it feel that all your hard work was for nothing!" The system responded.
"Just shut up and draw! I have other things to do. And don't forget you owe me another Zanpakuto on this draw."
"Eh, I was hoping you'd have forgotten about that, but a deals a deal. Since you gave up your last draw you can draw another zanpakuto this time around even though you're only supposed to be able to draw from each anime once. Plus you're getting a second draw as part of completing your special achievement." The system explained.
"Congratulations! You received Tenken, Sajin Komamura's zanpakuto from Bleach!"
"Congratulations! You received Asta's Demon Slayer sword from Black Clover!"
"Well those are your draws, but I'll let you know that since there's no magic in the One Piece world, Demon Slayer is basically just a big iron sword. Anyway let this be a lesson. No matter how hard you try to change the story, it'll always go back eventually. Remember that and despair loser!" The system spat as it shut off, though I didn't pay it much attention.
"Hey Captain! Are you going to be ok? You look like you blanked out for a second?" Jack asked me.
"I know you must be heartbroken right now Leo but it'll be alright. We're all here for you." Isabella said as she placed a hand on my shoulder.
"Leo, maybe you should lay down. You're still recovering from your injuries, and I'm sure this upsetting news isn't helping." Celeste said as she tried to lead me to bed.
"No, thanks but I've slept enough. It's time we all move on to our next steps." I said.
"But Captain Leo, Ace and Whitebeard are both dead, after you pushed yourself so far to save them. Are you sure you're alright? You should take some time to recover. Both your body and mind." Celeste said.
"No, it is heartbreaking to hear of my friends' deaths, but we can't stop now. We weren't strong enough to defeat fate this time, but next time we will. We have to get stronger no matter what. A man can cry for his fallen friends, but eventually he has to dry his tears and keep moving forward. If that's the case let's skip crying in the first place, let's continue chasing after our dreams!" I said as Rayleigh walked up behind me.
"Well said. I have to say when Shakky told me that a Warlord came to ask me to train him, I wasn't even the slightest bit interested. However, after seeing you at Marineford and hearing you just now, I think you might just be worth my time." He said.
"Mr. Rayleigh. It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. Thanks for taking care of my crew while I was gone. We could really use your help learning Haki." I said.
"Well it just so happens that I was planning on hosting a training camp of sorts with another promising young pirate, you're welcome to join us. However, I can only take one of you. To be frank, I don't think most of you could handle my training methods. You can always teach the basics to your crew after you finish our training. So what do you say?"
"Of course I agree." I said. "So how long do you think this training will last?"
"It's hard to say. For Luffy I expected 2 years would be about as long as it should take him to get a handle on his Haki. For you I'd expect it'd be a much shorter time frame. You are pretty far ahead of him right now. But don't let that go to your head, or Luffy might end up surpassing you in no time."
"Right I understand." I said.
"Alright give me a second to get ready and we'll move out. In fact, we'll go ahead and start your first training exercise." Rayleigh said.
I gathered my crew and said my farewells to them but I also gave them orders. "Alright guys, I know we just reunited but I've got to go train with Rayleigh. I wish we could stick together for a little while longer, but you know what they say, you've got to strike while the iron is hot and right now it's red hot. I'll make sure to pass on what I've learned when I see you guys again. As for you guys I want you to go back to Baima Island. Celeste was right, now that my Warlord status has been revoked we need to protect our territory from the Navy." I said.
"Thank you Leo." Celeste said as she took my hand.
"No reason to thank me. It's only natural that we protect our people." I replied.
"Gai, don't worry we'll protect our territory, and we'll do our best to get stronger on our own too." Yuma said.
"I'm sure you will buddy." I said as I shook Yuma's hand. "You're in charge while I'm gone. Take care of everyone for me. Oh and one more thing, this sword is for you, Yuma." I said as I tossed over Demon Slayer.
"Whoa! What is this thing?" Yuma said as he tried to pick it up. "Ah! This thing is so heavy! I can barely even lift it!" He said as he finally struggled to pick it up.
"Oh, it's nothing much. It's called Demon Slayer, but it's basically just a big heavy black iron sword. If you train to fight using that sword it should make you a lot stronger." I said.
"I got it thanks." Yuma said.
"Hey don't forget about me!" Charlemagne said as he hobbled over towards me. "I'm going to get a lot stronger. Next time we meet, we'll have a great dual, this time I'll force you to use that power you showed off at Marineford."
"Heh, I look forward to it. But you're going to have to get a whole lot stronger or I'll leave you in the dust." I said as we bumped fists.
As the rest of the crew started to head off to their own destination, I grabbed Isabella by the shoulder and picked her up.
"Whoa, hold your horses. You're not going with them. You're coming with me." I said as I sat her back down.
"Huh? But why, I thought the rest of us were going to Baima?" She asked.
"Yeah but not you. I absolutely need you by my side." I said.
"O-Oh, alright if you say so." She said while blushing.
I absolutely needed Isabella's singing skills, after all, training is always better with music. I'm sure she understood that's what I was talking about, there was no need for me to explain further.
We then went to Rayleigh to prepare to head out for our own destination.
"Alright let's start with our first training exercise. Our destination is Amazon Lily, we're going to be swimming there. Try not to fall behind. I'd be a shame for you to drown before we even make it to the training camp.
