Anime World Game Developer

Chapter 1: Prologue

Shinka Kurai.

It was a rather odd name to say the least, but it was indeed his name. More specifically, it was the name that he now answered to ever having since been reborn into this world probably over eighteen years ago by now.

Time sure flies by...

Well, that's what he'd like to say, but experiencing school all over again proved to be a major pain in the ass. Holy shit in a bucket did time fly by like a snail on gorilla glue! Though, while the experience was boring, there were at least a few pros to it.

First off, experiencing school all over again was a unique one, not many could say that they got to experience school life from the beginning. Then again, that's mainly because people typically don't find themselves getting reincarnated often.

You get the point, so we move.

Secondly, he found that the education system here in this world was easier compared to his old one. Not in terms of the overall structure of the system, that still sucked balls, but he was referring to the material that was being taught.

On top of the content being easier, with him having already gone through elementary and secondary education in his old life and getting top marks in case you wanted to know, getting through exams in this world was a piece of cake.

Now that you creepy ass readers have gotten the general gist of our lovely protagonist's situation, it was finally time to officially start the story. Speaking of the protagonist, he could currently be seen staring out the classroom window with a bored look evident on his face.

The male had a fair complexion along with a rather lean physique, a head of smooth dark-grey hair and a pair of striking emerald eyes. His uniform wasn't anything special, a simple button-up white dress shirt with short sleeves, a pair of sleek long black pants, and black leather shoes.

"That was such an easy last exam, not like I was expecting much anyway..." Kurai muttered to himself, though there was no arrogance in his tone despite his words. Leaning back in his chair, he closed his eyes. "School is such a bore."

"How many times have you said that these past three years...?"

Opening his eyes and raising his head slightly and to the side, he saw that the source of the voice was a female with a head of long light purple hair tied into neat twintails. Naturally, she was wearing the school's female uniform.

This girl was none other than Suzukaze Aoba, a friend he had somehow ended up making all the way back in the first year of high school. Back then was truly an interesting time, entering into high school for the first time again.

He remembered it like it was three years ago.

Anyway, at this time, Aoba had both her hands on her hips as she gave Kurai a half-eyed stare after having asked her question. In response, Kurai merely gave a small yawn as he stretched in his seat before pushing himself into an upright position.

"Five hundred and eighty-four times, which also includes the one just now."

"Why do you remember the exact number?!"

"Gotta my effort into something, don't I?"

"Then why don't you put the effort into studying for your exams instead of lounging around and doing nothing?" Aoba sighed as Kurai rested his chin on top of his arm. "Speaking of that, how was your exam? You better not have flunked."

"Flunked? Me? Shouldn't I be the one asking you that?" Kurai responded with one of his eyebrows raised. He then grinned slightly before raising his hand and pointing it right in front of Aoba's face. "Who was the one blew their exam that one time when we were first years?"

"Th-That...!"

"If I remember correctly, the score you got was-."

"Shut your mouth! You don't need to say it out loud!" Aoba quickly interrupted him as she lightly smacked his finger away from her face before pouting heavily. "Wh-Whatever, I have something very exciting that I wanted to share with you! It's incredible news!"

"Go on, you have my attention."

"You remember that game company that we applied to join?"

"No shit I do, you just said I applied to it."

"Th-That's not what I'm trying to get at! What I want to say is that I've been accepted into Eagle Jump!" Aoba smiled brightly before taking out her phone and shoving it in his face. "I received a call from them yesterday about my acceptance!"

"You were accepted?! (°ロ°)"

"Why do you sound so shocked?!"

"Calm down, I'm just teasin' ya. Congratulations." Kurai chuckled a bit as he stood up from his chair, rubbing his hand on top of the girl's head. In response, Aoba just pouted again with a faint red hue on her cheeks. "You worked hard, so you deserved it."

"Th-Thank you! What about you though?" Aoba composed herself as Kurai retracted his hand, to which she then couldn't help but ask. After all, Kurai did apply along with her. "If you haven't received a response, then maybe you'll receive one soon since I-."

"Oh, I already received the call a week ago. I was accepted."

"..."

Aoba froze completely after hearing this, he expression stiff as her previously bright eyes had now dimmed considerably. With a smile on her face that didn't exactly seem to reach her eyes, she moved closer to Kurai, though it looked more like she floated to him.

"...And you didn't think to tell me?"

"Uhh, I forgot?" Kurai's response sounded more like a question than anything, and seeing Aoba's current look, he couldn't help but sweat a bit. "But hey, you hadn't informed me about your acceptance yesterday either, so that makes us even. Right? Right?"

"..." Aoba stared at him in silence before giving a small creepy laugh. "Check your phone."

"...?"

With a blank look on his face, Kurai slowly took out his phone before turning it on. He navigated for a bit before opening up the phone app, and when he did, he saw a number of missed calls as well as missed messages on the messaging app.

"...(●__●)"

"Do you have anything to say~?"

"I plead the fifth?"

While Aoba was preparing to metaphorically kill Kurai, a save and grace seemed to arrive in the form of a short blond-haired girl that skidded to a stop in front of their classroom's entrance. Upon seeing them, the girl smiled brightly before waving her arms.

"Aocchi! Kuracchi!" The blonde girl yelled out loud, and the other students merely glanced before going back to doing whatever they were doing. Probably used to this girl doing the same thing many times before. "What are you guys up to?"

"Oh, hey! Nenecchi, what's up!"

"Don't try to escape this!"

"Eh? What's happening?" The girl known as Nenecchi, whose actual name was Sakura Nene, blinked in confusion after realizing the strange and tense atmosphere between her two friends. "Are you guys fighting or something? Did I come at a wrong time?"

"Fight? Don't be ridiculous!" Kurai laughed it off as he walked past Nene as the girl turned her body to follow him as she watched him walk towards the door. "I mean, like what kind of thing could we possibly have been fighting about? Completely absurd... 三ᕕ( " °□° )ᕗ"

"D-Don't run! Out of the way, Nenecchi! I'm going after him!"

"O-Okay...?"
