Chapter 4: First Steps into the Unknown

MC's POV:

"So… my name is Alex. Alex Holmes," I muttered. It felt surreal, as though the words carried more weight than they should.

For a moment, I lingered in silence. My thoughts churned with anticipation as I called out to the ethereal being that was now intrinsically linked to me.

"Raphael," I said, my voice steady, "are you there?"

A deep, calm voice responded almost immediately, reverberating in the empty expanse around me.

"Master, I am here."

I couldn't help but smile faintly. Raphael, was active and ready. I clenched my fist as I took a deep breath—or the Void equivalent of one. It was time to take the first step on my journey.

"System, give me the potion for Sequence 9: Seer."

Almost instantly, a small, glass bottle materialized in my hand. The potion inside shimmered faintly, glowing with an otherworldly light. Without hesitation, I brought it to my lips and drank.

The liquid burned as it slid down my throat, an unholy cocktail of sensations—bittersweet, metallic, and otherworldly. My vision swam, and for a moment, I thought I might black out. But then, a flood of knowledge poured into my mind, and the system's voice filled the Void around me.

"Not bad," I muttered, opening my eyes to glance at my hand. A faint, otherworldly glow surrounded it, a testament to the budding Spirituality coursing through me.

"Now," I said, my voice firm, "materialize my Uniqueness."

In an instant, translucent objects appeared around me, hovering like extensions of my very being.

First, a blank, featureless mask floated before my face—a manifestation of the Fool's Uniqueness. Next, a monocle, glowing faintly, hovered near my right eye—a symbol of the Error's Uniqueness. Finally, an earring in the shape of a key materialized on my left ear—the mark of the Door's Uniqueness.

I reached out with my mind, and the objects responded as though they were limbs I had always known how to use. Yet, as I tried to channel their full potential, resistance pushed back.

I gritted my teeth. "Of course. My current Sequence is too low to wield their full power… or the authority of the Sefirah Castle."

Despite the limitation, I felt an undeniable connection to the Uniquenesses. They were a part of me now—tools, weapons, and perhaps even allies.
