Chapter 128: Endo Fights Against Ninja Gaiden's Hidden Boss!

Wednesday 25 December 1991

The holiday season had finally arrived! Endo, the second-year high schooler who had deep discussions with Kumogi and Wataru about Gun-Nac in McDonald at Monday, grinned with excitement. "This time, I'll definitely beat Jashin without taking any damage!" he declared to himself.

Endo wasn't just any gamer—he was an elite player, one of those insane gamers who had mastered every challenge thrown his way. He had conquered all the ZEPS games, encountered every single Zabo-man hidden in the series, and now, only two major challenges remained. First, he had to defeat Jashin, the final boss of Ninja Gaiden, without taking a single hit. Second, he needed to complete Gun-Nac by defeating all the bosses without attacking, only dodging for four minutes so that the elusive Zabo-man would appear and deal the finishing blow.

So far, he had almost accomplished this second feat—except for the final boss, the Phase 2 Alien. That monstrosity was ridiculously difficult. If he dodged its attacks for two minutes, the Alien entered its red-eyed phase, duplicated itself, and doubled its projectile count, making survival nearly impossible.

"That was actually really insane!" Endo grinned. "Gun-Nac is ridiculously fun, but that final boss fight with Zabo-man method is brutal! Still, I know there has to be some hidden content after I pull it off. But first—Jashin. No damage!"

Determined, Endo booted up Ninja Gaiden and started from scratch. His speed and precision were unmatched as he slashed through enemies, traversed treacherous platforms, and cleared stage after stage at a breakneck pace. Within a short time, he had reached the final gauntlet. He easily defeated the Masked Devil and swiftly dispatched Jaquio, leaving only Jashin—the demon overlord—as his last obstacle.

Endo took a deep breath. "Alright. No damage. Here we go."

Jashin loomed before him, its grotesque form pulsing as it spawned minions and launched relentless attacks. But Endo had memorized its attack patterns to perfection. He effortlessly dodged every onslaught, weaving through projectiles like a phantom, and struck with calculated precision. The moment Jashin exposed its weak points, Endo unleashed the Super Ninja Move: Dragonfire, striking true every single time.

The battle raged on, yet Jashin stood no chance. With a final, perfectly timed Dragonfire strike, the monstrous entity let out a deafening roar before collapsing into nothingness.

"YES! I did it!" Endo pumped his fist in triumph.

But before he could even bask in his victory, the screen suddenly changed.

A new cutscene began.

A tall ninja, clad in a black suit adorned with scarlet patterns, stepped into view. The figure was terrifying—his left shoulder bore a demonic head, and his right arm was grotesquely transformed into a monstrous limb pulsating with dark energy. The tension in the air was palpable.

Ryu Hayabusa turned to face the newcomer. "Who are you?!"

The figure slowly opened his eyes, revealing an eerie, glowing purple gaze encircled by rings. He then glanced at Jashin's remains with utter disdain and sneered, "Pathetic."

Without hesitation, the mysterious ninja reached out, his demonic arm absorbing what remained of Jashin's power. His form pulsed with dark energy before he turned his piercing gaze toward Ryu. A wicked grin spread across his face as he loomed over the battlefield.

"You did well, defeating this disappointment," he said, his text dripping with red malice. "You deserve to know my name. I am known as the Embodiment of Pain."

Then, in an instant, he grew even larger. His text boomed with red malice!. "Now, you must die, Ryu Hayabusa!"

The screen transitioned into a hidden boss fight and The menacing boss theme playing on the background.

"WHAT THE HELL?!" Endo nearly fell out of his chair. His pulse quickened. "This is INSANE!"

The Embodiment of Pain (EOP) attacked with overwhelming force. His first phase featured four deadly moves:

Demonic Hand Strike – A massive slam attack that shook the battlefield.Demonic Summon – Dozens of nightmarish creatures erupted from his shoulder.Reverse Gravity – A technique that sent Ryu flying into the air if he stayed too close for too long.Gravitational Pull – EOP used his devil-arm to create a black hole, sucking Ryu toward him. The only way to escape was to dash in the opposite direction.

Despite the chaos, Endo fought valiantly, dodging with perfect precision and countering with every opening he could find. His attacks chipped away at EOP's health, but it was slow and arduous.

"Damn, this is tough!" Endo gritted his teeth, his fingers gripping the controller with white-knuckled intensity.

Finally, after a grueling battle, he managed to reduce EOP's health to 40%.

Then, the fight entered Phase 2.

EOP's body shrank, but his speed doubled. His attacks came in rapid succession, leaving Endo little room to breathe. The Reverse Gravity attack now activated unpredictably, and the Gravitational Pull had become even stronger.

Endo's hands were sweating. "This is nuts! No way they put a boss THIS hard in the game!"

He kept his distance, moving constantly to avoid being cornered. He desperately hoped for a random health drop—but none came. He had to do this perfectly.

With one final, Dragonfire, he landed a decisive blow.

EOP let out a blood-curdling scream. "AAAAAGH! NO WAY! How… HOW COULD I THE EMBODIMENT OF PAIN LOSE?!"

His form convulsed before dissolving into nothingness.

The screen faded to black.

Then, the normal ending cutscene played—but with one major difference.

Ryu still reunited with Irene, and they still shared a triumphant embrace. But this time, Ryu's face bore deep scars from his battle with EOP—a permanent reminder of his grueling fight against the Embodiment of Pain.

Endo sat there, his hands shaking. "That… was INSANE. That was the coolest boss fight I've ever played!"

A rush of satisfaction filled him. "I can't believe I beat it on my first try. If I had to retry, I'm not sure I could pull that off again."

He leaned back, catching his breath. After a moment, a grin spread across his face.

"Alright… time for Gun-Nac. That final boss isn't going to dodge itself."

And with that, Endo geared up for his next impossible challenge.
