Apocalypse Baby

Chapter 177: Varkos vs Alex's

Alex's clones stood still, tense.

Their gazes were locked on Varkos, who loomed over the lifeless body of their fallen clone.

Rage.

Caution.

A mix of both burned inside them.

Slowly, Varkos lifted his head.

His dark eyes scanned the remaining clones, and then...

He grinned.

A mocking, twisted smirk.

Then..

WHOOSH!

Varkos charged forward like a bullet, aiming to finish the job.

The clones' fury ignited.

Stormforge reacted instantly, surging ahead, his hand outstretched.

SNAP!

A massive explosion erupted between them, aimed directly at Varkos before he could close the distance. Discover more stories at My Virtual Library Empire

But—

FZZZT!

A shimmering barrier flickered into existence around Varkos.

BOOM!

The explosion detonated against the invisible shield, sending shockwaves through the battlefield.

But as the smoke cleared—

Varkos emerged.

Unharmed. Grinning.

Stormforge Alex clicked his teeth.

His blade gleamed in the dim light as he rushed forward, the air around him crackling with power.

And before Stormforge Alex could react—

SWOOSH!

Varkos's sword came swinging down.

Stormforged Alex gritted his teeth.

The moment Varkos's sword came down, he raised his axe to meet the attack.

CLANG!

A shockwave erupted from the collision.

BOOM!

The sheer force shattered the ground beneath them, cracks splintering outward.

Sparks of lightning crackled between their weapons, jumping across their bodies like living veins of energy.

Stormforged Alex's arms trembled.

Even with his enhanced armor, Varkos was stronger.

His knees buckled slightly under the pressure.

Gritting his teeth, he pushed back.

But it was like pushing against a mountain.

Varkos tilted his head, his eerie grin widening as he took a step forward, shoving Stormforged Alex back effortlessly.

Then....

WHOOSH!

The remaining two clones descended from above, weapons raised to strike.

Varkos's grin vanished.

No more games.

With a flick of his wrist, he shoved Stormforged Alex backward and then..

ZRRRK!

A ball of lightning exploded from his mouth, slamming into Stormforged Alex's chest.

BOOM!

The clone was sent tumbling across the battlefield, armor sizzling from the impact.

"You ugly demon!"

A voice roared.

Eclipse Edge Alex.

He lunged in, sword flashing, aiming for Varkos's head.

SWISH!

Varkos sidestepped, effortlessly dodging.

CLANG!

CLANG!

CLANG!

Eclipse Edge Alex unleashed a flurry of attacks, each one precise and lethal.

But, Varkos parried them all with ease.

The clash of steel rang out in rapid succession.

Sparks flew as Varkos deflected Alex's sword upward, then knocked away the downward slash with a burst of lightning.

The clones reacted instantly, leaping to the side as the electric blast scorched the ground where they had just stood.

Gauntlet Alex dashed in from Varkos' flank, his fist cocked back for a powerful strike.

He aimed for the beast's ribs, hoping to land a sneak attack.

But Varkos moved with unnatural speed.

Twisting its body, it dodged the punch and retaliated with a brutal kick.

Gauntlet Alex barely had time to brace.

He crossed his arms, absorbing the impact—but the force still sent him hurtling through the air, crashing into the dirt with a heavy thud.

Before he could recover, Eclipse Edge Alex lunged forward, blade flashing.

Varkos's eyes gleamed.

With a guttural snarl, it opened its maw and unleashed a crackling sphere of lightning straight at him.

Alex reacted on instinct.

He swung his sword up, intercepting the attack.

But the sheer power behind the energy ball was overwhelming.

The moment it made contact, a shockwave erupted, blasting Eclipse Edge Alex off his feet.

He tumbled backward, rolling across the battlefield.

Varkos didn't hesitate.

It locked onto the tumbling clone and lunged forward, massive claws tearing into the ground as it closed the distance.

Gauntlet Alex, still recovering from the earlier kick, felt a surge of danger.

His muscles tensed.

Without thinking, he threw himself backward just as Varkos landed with a thunderous boom, shattering the ground where he had just stood.

Dust and debris shot into the air.

Varkos snarled and lunged at the clone, its attack relentless, ferocious and swift.

Gauntlet Alex had no choice but to dodge.

His mind locked onto evasion, his body moving purely on instinct as he sidestepped, ducked, and backpedaled.

The beast's strikes came like a storm, leaving him no room to counter.

But then a sharp claw grazed his chest, tearing through flesh.

Blood splattered.

"Argh!"

And Alex gritted his teeth, pain flaring through his body.

Before he could react, Varkos' foot came crashing down.

BOOM!

The stomp crushed into his chest, driving him into the ground.

A sickening crack spread through the stone beneath him, dust rising from the impact.

The archfiend loomed above, its cold gaze locked onto the fallen clone.

Varkos raised its crackling blade, dark energy dancing along its length. Without hesitation, it plunged downward, aiming to end Gauntlet Alex for good.

But just before the blade could pierce—

WHHOOOOO!

A deafening sonic wave exploded across the battlefield, slamming into Varkos with raw force.

The beast staggered, knocked off balance, its attack thrown off course.

Gauntlet Alex gasped for breath.

That was too close.

Its savior was another clone—Shadow Fang Alex.

The one who had gone to aid Freya and the others.

Returning.

Without hesitation, he stepped forward, gripping Gauntlet Alex by the arm and pulling him up.

Gauntlet Alex clutched his bloodied chest, breathing heavily.

The wound was healing—but too slowly. Pain still lingered, but he pushed through it.

Meanwhile, Varkos steadied itself, shaking off the force of the sonic blast.

Its glowing eyes snapped upward, scanning the battlefield—then narrowed.

Another clone had joined the fight.

Then, it sensed it.

A sharp, urgent pull in its mind—its master was calling for help.

Grim Lord was in trouble.

Varkos snarled. There was no time to waste. It turned to leave—

But stopped.

Two figures blocked its path.

Stormforged Alex and Eclipse Edge Alex had recovered from the earlier attack.

Now, they stood firm, blades drawn, their gazes locked onto the beast.

Behind them, Gauntlet Alex and Shadow Fang Alex took position, ready for battle.

The air grew tense.

Sparks crackled from Varkos' blade.

The clones weren't just stalling.

They had received a mental order from Alex himself...

Varkos wasn't allowed to leave until he was finished with Grim Lord.
