Apocalypse: Earth and Cultivation World Merge

Chapter 1: 1 - Slight Tremor

Bella peeked through the classroom window, her eyes tracing her lecturer's every move—every smile, every expression, nothing escaped her gaze.

"Oh, sweetie. He's married!" A soft voice came from behind her, she turned around and came face to face with the look of pity from one of the female lecturers.

"I .....I .....I'm not looking a-"she stuttered as her mind raced, scrambling to deny it.

The female lecturer just gave her a sympathetic smile and tapped her on the shoulder before walking off.

Her expression fell instantly. 'He's married.' The words echoed in her mind, sending a sharp pain through her chest. Her eyes stung as she fought back tears.

The male lecturer's name is Mahmud, Dr Mahmud Jabbie and from the first time she set her eyes on him she immediately felt that he was hers, this is her last semester in university and in four months time she'll be a fully fledged medical doctor.

She had hoped that once her status changed from his student to his junior colleague, then she could confidently be with him. She had even decided to shamelessly seduce him if it called for it, but now, she is told that he has a wife.

In their three years of interaction, he had never mentioned anything about having a wife or anything like that.

In fact, he had let all her words slide. She recalled telling him—once, maybe twice—that he would be hers, and he had only smiled, encouraging her.

They even had a special date planned for after her swearing in ceremony and graduation ceremony.

He had even pecked her on the lips a few weeks ago - He had held her by the waist dragged her closer and pecked her lips and then placed a wet kiss on the side of her lips and winked at her before walking off.

Scum. Cheater. Damn Liar !

Come to think of it, she did hear rumours of him dating students around campus but she always thought it to be slander.

She could feel her heart tighten up and her vision getting blurry, she quickly wiped her tears and took deep breaths, internally scolding herself for reacting to a love interest in such a manner.

She rested her head on the table, trying to mask her emotions. Being well-known on campus, she didn't want to attract unwanted attention.

A felt a slight tremor and immediately raised her head and scanned her, but everything appeared normal.

"Now I'm starting to hallucinate" a self-depreciating laughter bubbled out of her lips and she shook her head, laying it back on the table.

Pathetic, it was her break time and she was supposed to be in her dorm resting up before her rotation tonight, yet here she was pathetically crying over a married man that she had no involvement with.

Suddenly the ground trembled violently, she became baffled. At first she thought that she was hallucinating, her country, in fact the entire Western continent of Africa had a zero chance of earthquakes.

The sounds of screams surrounding her made her realize that she wasn't hallucinating.

"ALL PERSONS EXIT THE BUILDINGS AND GATHER AT THE SPORTS FIELD!!". The anxious voice of the Dean came over the speakers.

Grateful that her class was on the ground floor and close to the field, she wasted no time sprinting out.

Moving around proved way more difficult than she initially thought, the trembling ground made it almost impossible for most people to move around, some even decided to drag their bodies on the floor after a long time of falling over and stumbling along the way.

But for Bella, she quickly adjusted with little difficulty, after all she is a gold medalist for the beam balance sports, her sense of balance is way higher than most people.

She spotted one of her juniors In Front of her tripping and she recalled that the lady was a few weeks pregnant and could miscarry.

Her instincts kicked in and she rushed forward holding the lady to stand.

"Thank you" a tear rolled down the juniors eyes, her fear stricken face white as a sheet.

She simply nodded and accompanied her towards the field, making sure to keep her safe from others stumbling about.

When she finally arrived at the field she noticed that there were already some people there, students and lecturers alike. The fear and uncertainty in their eyes was all she needed to realize that it was strange to everyone else.

About 2 hours later when almost everyone was gathered, the trembling stopped and people took out their mobile phones to check online, trying to find out what happened.

Bella looked around, searching for her prince charming, she finally spotted him a few feet away and after a quick scan on his condition, she breathed out in relief.

She finally noticed a weight across her shoulders and realized that her bag that was crossed over her shoulder was still there. She took out her phone and checked what was going on online, instead of answers she got a greater shock.

"Can't believe the government didn't notice us about an impending earthquake #sodissapointed #USA."

"9ja sef dae get earthquake #Nigeria #shocked"

"I thought judgement day was here oh #surprised #Kuwait"

Similar posts were made by different users from all over the world. Bella felt an uncomfortable feeling in her heart seeing that most countries that she knew by name had experienced a similar issue.

"ATTENTION PLEASE !" The dean's tired voice came from a corner.

"GO HOME EVERYONE, The university will get on to you through our official channel" he continued after the place became quiet and concentrated on him.

Low murmurs erupted as a large mass of people headed towards the gate area and some to the garage, still looking visibly shaken.

Bella fought back the urge to walk towards Dr Jabbie, when she saw him surrounded by a large number of students- female students.

Why was she still caring for this damn cheat, a self-deprecating laugh bubbled out of her lips and she decided to just head home.

She resolutely walked towards the dormitory building fighting back urges to look back until she was sure he was way out of her view.

She greeted the matron and stomped her way up the stairs, venting her heartbreak on the poor stairs.

On a normal day, the matron would've scolded her but after the experience earlier, the Matron seemed out of sorts too.

"Good that you're here, my dad asked me to go home, so bye" her roommate stated the moment she opened the door to her dorm room. She gave her a small nod and locked the door after.

Relieved that she was alone in the dorm, she dropped her bag on the table and laid on the bed feeling the exhaustion in her heart weighing down.

The tears she had kept at bay finally flowed down like a waterfall, the knowledge of being alone made her more tearful and was soon bawling out loud.

Unknowingly, she cried herself to sleep and woke up to a splitting headache when her alarm rang. She stretched her hand out to silence the alarm but froze halfway when she felt a familiar tremor.
