Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies

Lei Yan's words caused the people who were making a fuss to turn silent. They all looked at Lei Yan and the rest with stunned looks on their faces. The middle-aged woman who was speaking blinked her eyes and stated, "Well, it does seem true. The army of our nation would never allow young women such as you to join; you all look so weak."

It was quite clear that this woman was one of those old women who were highly patriarchal.

When the young men heard that they were not soldiers, he was stunned. He blinked his eyes and said, "Even if you are not from the army, you should still help us." The cogs in his head turned again and again before he said to Lei Qian and the rest, "I have seen you. You are that star, right?" He addressed Bai Meiyue and Wang Ba. "The ones who did a lot of charity."

"You even said that you want to save lives and help the needy; since you spoke such high-sounding words, you should help us."

Jiang Li looked at the men of the team and smiled at them. She agreed with the young thug and said to Lei Qian while batting her eyelashes flirtatiously, "He is right. Though I do admit that you have no obligation to save us, you all were known for your kindness in the past. You will certainly save us, right?"

As soon as she finished speaking, Bai Meiyue burst into laughter.

"Why are you laughing?" the boy asked with a sneer on his lips. He seemed quite angry, as he could feel that Bai Meiyue was laughing at him.

"Who are you yelling at?" Lei Qian stepped forward at once when he saw that the man was yelling at Bai Meiyue. Even he didn't dare to raise his voice at Bai Meiyue, who was this punk to raise his voice at her.

The young thug shrunk his neck but he still stubbornly said to Lei Qian, "Am I wrong? Or did I say anything wrong? Why is she laughing at me like that?"

Bai Meiyue was not offended by the words of the young man. She curled her lips and sneered. "You said it yourself. We only said those high-sounding words but that doesn't mean that we truly mean them. We all know that the stars that you idolise only create a persona and portray it on the screen. Are you really going to use it against us now?"

"Hey, if you don't save us—"

"What?" Bai Meiyue arched his brow. "What are you going to do? Tell everyone our reality? Go ahead."

She curled her lips in a sneer and stated, "If you are going to beg us, then have the attitude of a beggar. Don't try to become our God."

Bai Meiyue was disgusted by people like these. They were so terrified of zombies that they didn't dare to step out of the room just now. But the second they knew that the danger was gone and they were facing their own kind instead of those ugly monsters, they would start acting all haughty.

Save them? Owe them? Show them kindness? Those ideas sounded really pleasant but they were just excuses. They just wanted to cling to the strong and survive.

Bai Meiyue wouldn't save scum like these people, even if she had a heart of gold.

"What are you doing here?" Zhou Hongbei's eyes were alight with flames as he looked at the twenty people in front of him. "I thought I told you yesterday that you are not allowed to be here. How dare you come to this room?"

"These people were not allowed to be here?" Lei Yan turned to look at Shen Zhen and the children.

"They bully the children and the nurses," Shen Zhen answered sullenly. She knew that these people would take advantage of their absence, when they were not in the hospital but she never thought that they would be so shameless.

When the young man and the rest of the survivors saw Shen Zhen and Zhou Hongbei, they were stunned. Because they were too busy looking at Lei Qian and the rest, they didn't pay attention to the two doctors. Upon seeing the two of them, their expressions turned shifty.

Seeing this, Zhou Hongbei knew that there was something wrong. He rushed past everyone and pushed the young man and the rest of the survivors. As soon as he stepped inside, the two nurses who were crouching on the floor immediately covered their heads and shouted,

"We have nothing! All the milk powder is gone; even if you beat us up, we cannot take it out anymore."

"Don't beat us anymore. We have nothing left! Wuwuwu."

The two nurses were really tired and scared. Yesterday, they came to this room to get some more milk powder for the children but as soon as they snuck inside this room, these survivors came rushing and knocked them onto the floor.

They snatched the milk powder that was meant for the babies and ate it all. The two nurses had no idea what to do anymore. They were sure that the babies would be crying because of hunger, as they needed to be fed every four hours. But what were they supposed to do? They couldn't get out of this room and even if they somehow got out of the room, what were they supposed to do? These people ate all the milk powder.

"You two, what happened to you?" Zhou Hongbei looked at the nurses and asked.

When the nurses heard the familiar voice, they raised their heads and looked at Zhou Hongbei. Their faces lit up and they scrambled to their feet.

"Doctor Zhou, you are finally here!"

"Thank heavens that you are here," sighed the other nurse with a look of pure relief on her face.

The two of them were truly scared that they would end up losing their lives in the hands of these people!
