Apocalyptic Disasters: Carrying a bun and hoarding supplies

Lei Qian heaved a sigh of relief when the fan that was hovering on the top of his head vanished.

When Bai Meiyue saw his expression, she was so amused that she couldn't help but smile. She said to him, "This is a secret. So don't let anyone know. Especially until you have caught hold of controlling spiritual energy. If you let others know, it won't take long before Bai Feng finds out about it."

Though Bai Meiyue felt a bit apologetic toward Bai Feng as she was looking forward to the death of that man, she couldn't let him get any stronger lest he become an enemy that she couldn't defeat.

"Don't worry," Lei Qian got up from the floor and arched his hands over his head before saying to Bai Meiyue, "I will make sure that I will not breathe a word about this until I am the supreme ability user." He, too, understood how important this information was; if they were in the military, this information would be classified as top-secret information. After all, this information could cause a lot of trouble.

The one who got it first would be able to ascend to new and higher levels. Why would they let anyone in on this secret? Though Lei Qian was kind, he was not foolish. He was not the kind of person who would focus on someone else while ignoring his oxygen mask when the air pressure drops.

Bai Meiyue nodded and then said to him, "Let's go. We also need to take some rest." Especially her; she couldn't take a nap in the morning because the place had changed. Maybe with Lei Qian by her side, she would be able to get some proper sleep.

Bai Meiyue was quite correct; with Lei Qian by her side, she was able to sleep through the night without any trouble.

The night passed without much incident. There were not many mutated animals, just some mutated chickens and goats that were captured on Bai Meiyue's orders.

The next morning, when Bai Meiyue was eating the seafood porridge, she heard Xiao Wu say to her, "Boss, a few of my brothers were injured while we were capturing the goat. Its horn has scratched their skin and left some serious wounds, but Doctor Shen said that they would be fine; they just needed to keep rebandaging their wounds every second day, and they will be fine."

He paused and asked, "They will not be infected by the zombie virus, will they?"

"No," Bai Meiyue replied. She had never heard of a human getting infected by mutated animals. Killed, yes, but not infected.

Xiao Wu heaved a sigh of relief. He then said to Bai Meiyue, "I think I will ask them to stay here until they are healed completely. If they come back with us, they will be taken away by the soldiers. It's better if they heal here." The mansions had been cleaned of zombies and mutated animals; his brothers wouldn't have to worry about anything.

"You are right. I was thinking the same," said Bai Meiyue as she gave the man a nod. "We have collected enough supplies in the freezers of these mansions, and your brothers can stay here as long as they know how to cook and clean. If they come with us, they will definitely be taken to seclusion." Though it was said that they were deliberately keeping the infected people away from the healthy ones, Bai Meiyue knew that Yu Miaomiao was actually experimenting on these infected people. Given that she had always chased after fame and power, she must be quite hooked on the idea of being the first person who could create a vaccine for this deadly virus that had no cure in this world.

If she succeeded, she would become the messiah of the world.

Bai Meiyue sighed. She knew very well that even after four years of constant research, nothing seemed to have worked in their way. No vaccine appeared until the day she died in the apocalyptic world.

While everyone ate their meal, they discussed what to do next. Shen Zhen spoke in a calm voice, "We need to make sure that we can bring the medical supplies with us first; those pieces of equipment are really rare and expensive. We might not even find a second copy of them, not unless we drive all the way to the next city, which will be a two-day journey."

"And we are not sure about it either. What if they are not there? Instead of filling the coffers of our enemies, we might as well think of bringing them here."

"Leave that matter to me," said Bai Meiyue. She had a space pocket, and she could easily take care of this matter.

When Shen Zhen heard her words, she thought of how the pieces of equipment that disappeared in the hospital turned up in the new medical area and nodded. "Very well, we will leave this matter to you, Miss Meiyue."

Bai Meiyue hummed.

Inside her mind, she was already calculating. She thought of how Yu Miaomiao tried to steal her medical team; since that was the case, then she might as well go ahead and steal the medical supplies that the woman had collected.

She thought of the supplies that Yu Miaomiao wanted to take from her and curled her lips.

Sure, take as much as you want, but I will make sure that I snatch double what you take from me.

Bai Meiyue had enough supplies, and with the Barter system, she didn't have to worry about starving. She just didn't want Yu Miaomiao to have an easy time. If not for the fact that the woman had stepped on her bottom line again and again, she wouldn't have made a move on her so soon.

She raised her hand and rubbed her belly. If only Yu Miaomiao had stayed put a bit longer, then she would have been the one who would have cut her head off!
