Chapter 528: Corpse Plague (2)
When Bai Meiyue thought about it, she lowered her head and looked at her own bosom before comparing it with Sister Yang's. If she was not wrong, then in the past, she had a lot of trouble feeding her son. This was all because of the lack of nutrition that she received in her last life. Unlike this time, she didn't have any preparations done and could only live every day by hunting and looking for supplies.
Most of them were snatched by the Bai family, and she was left with barely anything in her hands. How could she even create enough milk to feed her son when she didn't even have enough to feed herself?
Would she be able to make enough milk to feed her son this time around? Bai Meiyue couldn't help but wonder.
When Yang Wei and Sister Yang heard that Bai Meiyue had agreed, they happily handed her the crystal nuclei they had collected. Of course, Bai Meiyue didn't let them go empty-handed; she handed them two bags of nappies, including some meat and vegetables, along with a set of warm clothes for their family.
Yang Wei and Sister Yang were touched by Bai Meiyue's generosity. They knew that Bai Meiyue was looking after their family because they had tried to purchase a bag of nappies from the base, and they asked for ten crystal nuclei!
They knew that the soldiers were ripping them off, but what could they do with nothing in their hands? Compared to them, Bai Meiyue was rather reasonable. She was willing to give them two bags of nappies of ten crystal nuclei, which was still bearable.
Because Sister Yang wanted to prove that she was not lying, she immediately rushed to the infirmary after she finished feeding her son and fed all eleven babies. Not only did she feed them, but she even bathed and changed their dirty nappies. By the time she was done, the babies were exceptionally well fed and looked rather comforted.
The next morning, when Bai Meiyue heard of Sister Yang's actions, she waved her hand and said to Nurse Lin, "Let her do what she wants to. Anyway, if the babies drink a mother's milk, it will only strengthen their bodies for what they have to face in the future."
The milk powder that the babies were relying on was an old formula that was created before the end of the world. It was missing the properties and nutrients for them to fight against the virus that was floating in the air.
But Sister Yang, whose body matured and faced the doomsday virus, would naturally create milk with the required properties. The babies would only get stronger if they drank her milk.
When Nurse Lin heard Bai Meiyue's words, she had to admit that her reasoning made sense. She nodded and agreed before taking her leave.
Once Nurse Lin was gone, Bai Meiyue got to her feet and headed towards the greenhouse; she wanted to see if the herbs that she had planted were going well or not. If they were, then she was going to sell it back to the man who had asked him to experiment with the herbs.
Thus, while supporting her almost five-month belly, she marched her way to the greenhouse. Upon arriving in the greenhouse, she saw the small patch of herbs growing really well. Seeing this, she heaved a sigh of relief and immediately texted Poison Master.
[Do you want to purchase those herbs that you handed me to grow the last time?]
The reply was almost instant.
[Did you succeed in growing them?]
Instead of replying, Bai Meiyue simply clicked the image of the herbs and sent it to Poison Master. The second she finished throwing in the image as her reply, the man immediately replied to her.
[I want to buy them. Tell me what you would like to get in exchange?]
[ Send me that Seven Course Day Poison. Along with the antidotes for advanced poisons, with their uses.]
[Alright.]
Bai Meiyue smiled when she saw the response of the man. She happily bartered off the herbs with him and, in return, got the poisons that she wanted. Of course, she was not going to use these poisons; she would only keep a little bit of them with her and then exchange the rest with the Goddess of Herbs.
Since she wanted to learn more about her skills as a doctor, Bai Meiyue couldn't waste the chance to get more herbs from that woman. Goddess of Herbs told her that she wanted to study the Seven Course Day Poison. The last time they exchanged herbs, according to her, this poison was really rare, and its antidote was unknown.
The Goddess of Herbs wanted to create an antidote for the poison, but she couldn't get her hands on the poison itself.
But now that Bai Meiyue had gotten her hands on the antidote, she was certain she would be able to get her hands on some selected herbs that she wanted.
"AHHHH!!"
Bai Meiyue had just stepped out of the greenhouse when she heard the sound of people screaming and yelling. Startled but not surprised, she stepped forward towards the balcony of the penthouse. After all, after living in the apocalypse, she was used to hearing the screams of the common people.
She peered down at the man who was holding his daughter in his arms and cried out in grief, "Someone help! Someone help my daughter."
However, no one stepped forward and simply stared at the little girl who was lying in the arms of her father; she was jerking and moving like a zombie, but Bai Meiyue knew that she was alive.
"The plague is here." Bai Meiyue pursed her lips and looked at the child whose skin was turning blue. Corpse Plague — a plague where the internal organs of humans stopped working and started to fail because they ate the flesh of mutated animals without treating it carefully or drank toxic water.
