Chapter 25: Chapter 25: Too Much Talking

To be honest, Steven had no idea where this place was, nor why this man was targeting Gladiia.

He didn't even know who this guy was, to begin with. After all, he was just here to watch a bloodbath.

But one thing Steven understood was that the guy in front of him was marked as a red dot on the mini-map.

And that was enough.

Without giving the man a chance to explain, Steven disappeared from where he stood, leaving only a blur as he appeared right next to the hooded man.

Usually, Steven would even skip the opening cutscenes for bosses, so why would he waste time listening to this hooded man talk?

Seriously, time was precious—who cared about the backstory of someone trying to harm the person he cared about?

If you've done something, you need to take responsibility for it. Steven had no interest in hearing any tragic tales from this guy.

Silently, the Netherite Sword rested against the man's neck. Steven thought for a moment and decided to give him a chance to utter some last words.

After all, how should he put it? Skipping the opening scene was fine, but the ending cutscene deserved at least a glance, right?

"Got anything to say? I'll give you one sentence."

Ignoring the shock in the hooded man's eyes, Steven yawned, looking like an employee waiting lazily to clock out.

"…I think there might be a misunderstanding between us. Why can't we just talk it out?" said the hooded man.

He truly hadn't expected Steven to somehow bypass the monsters guarding him and appear right beside him, as if teleporting.

But as he thought back to how this young man stopped the horrifying humanoid fish beasts earlier, he realized it wasn't entirely unreasonable.

Abyssal Hunters already possessed physical attributes beyond his wildest imagination, but this boy had once again shattered his understanding. Was he really human and not some kind of mutant?

However, just as the hooded man was about to negotiate further with the seemingly rational Steven, his world flipped upside down.

As his vision uncontrollably rotated and finally landed on the ground, he saw a headless body in a black robe.

That should be him, right? But where was his head?

"Too much talking—that counts as one sentence. In your next life, organize your last words better."

Steven's voice came from above, but unfortunately, the hooded man could no longer respond.

Glancing at the faintly glowing green ichor on his sword, Steven's expression turned to one of disdain.

"So, it looked human, but apparently isn't. Figures."

Steven had no intention of inspecting the severed head to get a closer look at this hooded man's face. Instead, he lifted his gaze toward the humanoid fish creatures, now restless and out of control after losing their master.

"Time to clean up the mess," he muttered.

Honestly, how had his so-called adopted daughter managed to attract such a gang of freaks?

Shaking his head in puzzlement, Steven quickly assessed the remaining number of humanoid fish creatures—fewer than ten.

They looked more intimidating than other monsters he had encountered in this world, likely due to the crystalline formations on their bodies.

Restless and filled with bloodlust, the now masterless creatures naturally turned their attention toward Steven and Gladiia.

"Roar!"

With an enraged howl, the creatures charged at them in a frenzy.

"Well, that's convenient. Saves me the trouble of chasing you down," Steven quipped, gripping the hilt of his sword.

Dodging the first creature's lunge, he swung his sword across its neck.

Thanks to the fact that the Netherite sword has a [Sharpness V] enhancement in it, it was as if he were cutting through butter. The blade tore through flesh, severed bone, and sent the monster's head flying before it even realized what had happened.

[Ding! Eliminate plot monsters, World Acknowledgement Point +20]

A prompt appeared in the lower-right corner of his vision, immediately lifting Steven's somewhat lackadaisical mood.

"Well, at least it gives Acknowledgement Points. Even if it's a small amount, it's still something, right?"

With another effortless swing, he decapitated another attacking creature, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his lips.

The creatures were fast, stronger than the ones he had seen by the sea, but their strength was relative. Against Steven's overwhelming power, their enhanced abilities were still insignificant.

In the blink of an eye, two creatures had fallen. The remaining ones, even in their uncontrollable state, seemed to sense the danger posed by Steven.

Originally, some had been eyeing Gladiia, but now all of them turned their savage gazes toward him.

"Well, look at that. A little teamwork? Realizing you can't handle me solo, so you're grouping up now?"

Steven smirked. That actually made things easier—now he didn't have to divide his attention to protect Gladiia.

From a certain perspective, these creatures were quite considerate.

As a token of gratitude, Steven decided to grant them a swift death, sparing them further suffering.

What surprised him, though, was what happened next. The creatures grouped together, and the orange-yellow crystals on their bodies began to glow with a strange, otherworldly light.

Steven paused, lowering his sword slightly.

He couldn't help it—those glowing crystals reminded him too much of a Creeper's charging animation.

"Are these things… going to explode? Starting with something that intense?"

Curiosity piqued, Steven decided not to interrupt their actions, waiting to see what kind of surprise they might unleash.

Since entering this world, all he had encountered were mindless beasts that relied solely on physical attacks. But he distinctly remembered Irene mentioning something about "Originium Arts."

He had dabbled in various magic systems, from rune craftsmanship to blood magic, but this "Originium Arts" concept was entirely new to him.

The creatures didn't disappoint. As the orange crystals on their bodies turned blood red, they raised their claws in unison.

The ground rumbled. Sharp, blade-like spikes erupted from the earth, hurtling straight toward Steven's position.
