Arknights:The Madman Doctor Strikes Again!

Misha's biological father, Sergei, was an important scientist in Chernobog. Now, with Reunion actively hunting her down, the stakes had never been higher.

That was the real reason why Ch'en had been so determined to bring Misha back to the Lungmen Guard Bureau. But now, she had actually been taken away by someone from Rhodes Island… in a stolen Guard Bureau patrol car, no less.

"Damn it! After them! Stop that lunatic Doctor! We absolutely cannot let him take Misha away!"

Without hesitation, Ch'en jumped into another patrol car and led the chase. Two vehicles roared down the narrow streets of the slums, sirens blaring.

"All units, intercept vehicle number LM810975. It's been hijacked by the Rhodes Island Doctor. Target Misha is inside. Stop them at all costs!"

At the same time, Ch'en used the vehicle's radio to call for backup from any nearby Lungmen Guard Bureau vehicles. But with most elite units already held up by some unknown assailant, only a few were available to respond.

Thus began the Lungmen slum's own version of Fast & Furious.

Jay's patrol car tore down the crumbling roads, engine howling, while a fleet of patrol cars closed in behind him.

"Woooah, they're catching up! A whole bunch of Lungmen units are on our tail!"

Exusiai was pressed against the rear window, eyes wide as she tracked the flashing lights behind them.

"Doctor, step on it! We're gonna get caught!"

Just as the system had warned, the moment Jay chose the second 'lunatic' option, he'd instantly become Lungmen's newest 'five-star citizen' and was now enjoying the full attention of their law enforcement.

"Doctor! Misha's condition is deteriorating again… I gave her another injection, but it's barely holding! She needs treatment immediately!"

Amiya sat in the backseat with Misha, anxiety written all over her face.

Jay glanced in the mirror. Sweat beaded Misha's pale forehead, and despite the injection, she looked dangerously weak.

"In that case, we definitely can't let Ch'en catch us!"

Jay slammed the accelerator, the car surging forward with a roar.

BEEP BEEP BEEP!

The dashboard pager suddenly blared to life.

Jay didn't want to answer it, but the noise was obnoxiously loud. With a sigh, he hit the speaker button.

"This is the Doctor. Speak."

"You absolute lunatic! Pull over right now! Do you even know what you're doing, Doctor?!"

As expected, Ch'en's voice blasted through the speaker, full of righteous fury.

Jay paused for a moment, then suddenly grinned.

"Ch'en… I'm doing this to protect you all! Can't you see the noble intentions behind my actions?"

Without giving her a chance to respond, Jay hung up.

He figured it was already a chaotic mess, so why not lean into it? And who knows… maybe that baffling excuse might actually come in handy later.

"What the hell is that idiot talking about?!"

Back in the pursuing car, Ch'en stared at the radio in disbelief.

He's protecting us? What kind of nonsense is that?

He stole a patrol car. He kidnapped Misha. And then he claims it's all for our safety?

"This so-called Doctor from Rhodes Island… I thought he was supposed to be some kind of genius. Turns out, he's just a madman!"

Ch'en angrily tossed the radio aside and glared at the vehicle speeding ahead.

"When I catch him, I swear I'll"

"Obstacle ahead! There's a roadblock! And a group of Reunion crossbowmen lying in ambush, aiming at the lead vehicle!"

A Guard Bureau officer sitting beside her was scanning the road with binoculars and suddenly shouted.

"What did you say?! Reunion?!"

Meanwhile, in Jay's vehicle.

Texas, seated in the front passenger seat, suddenly shouted.

"Doctor, careful! Reunion set up a barricade ahead!"

So they really were lying in ambush. But Jay's expression didn't falter.

"No problem. Leave it to me!"

He activated his Jade Wall Art, expanding the shield until it wrapped around the entire vehicle.

BOOM!

With a deafening crash, the patrol car, protected by the jade barrier, plowed straight through the makeshift blockade of broken furniture and rubble.

"Whoa! Doctor, that's some seriously amazing Originium Arts! That was awesome!"

Exusiai's eyes sparkled in awe as debris flew into the air and the car remained untouched.

But that roadblock was only the beginning.

The ground ahead was riddled with potholes, slowing them down significantly. Worse yet, Reunion soldiers began popping out of windows, unleashing volleys of bolts. Some hurled firebombs and explosives directly at the car.

If this had been a normal vehicle, the tires would've been shredded by now or the whole thing blown sky-high.

Thankfully, the jade shield held strong, keeping them safe… for now.

But it wouldn't last forever. Jay knew the barrier couldn't take much more punishment.

He turned to Texas.

"Texas, I'm handing off the wheel to you!"

"Understood, Doctor!"

She immediately grasped what he meant. In a swift maneuver, the two of them swapped seats.

Now riding shotgun, Jay pulled out a high-pressure water shotgun and began spraying down the enemies outside.

"Whoo! This is insane! I love it!"

Exusiai drew her dual pistols and started blasting at enemies on the opposite side of the car.

Jay half-hung out the window, nailing a Reunion soldier who was about to toss an explosive, then turned back to shout:

"Texas! Focus on driving! I'll handle the rest!"

"Leave it to me, Doctor!"

Texas's driving skills far outclassed Jay's. Now that she knew Misha was critically ill, she pulled out all the stops, weaving through the ambush with hair-raising precision.

With the jade barrier shielding them, Jay and his squad charged straight into Reunion's trap.

"Chief Ch'en!"

"I can see it, I'm not blind!"

Back in the second car, Ch'en stared wide-eyed at the chaos ahead.

Now that she thought about it… if Jay hadn't taken the lead and hijacked the car, they would've driven straight into this ambush.

And she sure as hell didn't have an Originium Art that could shield an entire vehicle like that…

"No way…"

Ch'en took a sharp breath.

"Was the Doctor… actually telling the truth? Was he really protecting us all along…?"
