My eyes widened at the stats, barely able to comprehend them.

Koneko leaned closer to get a better look at Frost, who ruffled her feathers and landed lightly on my shoulders. "Oh, shit," Koneko muttered under her breath, clearly impressed but also mildly exasperated.

Frost adjusted herself comfortably, her talons resting on both sides of my shoulders. "I'm getting comfy," she said nonchalantly, her cool voice almost dismissive.

"Uh… okay," I replied, unsure how to react to the casual intimacy. "Let's head back to the others."

….

When we returned, chaos greeted us. The girls screamed as a green slime dissolved their clothing, leaving them scrambling for cover. I spotted Issei drooling, his lecherous grin plastered across his face as he ogled the scene.

Without hesitation, I turned to Frost. "Frost, would you do the honors?"

"With pleasure," she replied smoothly. She opened her beak and unleashed a breath of icy wind. The green slime froze solid before shattering into tiny pieces. The girls turned toward me, both grateful and embarrassed, while the familiar master's jaw practically hit the floor.

"N-no way," the familiar master stammered, his face pale as he stared at Frost.

Rias, her composure momentarily shaken, pointed at Frost. "What… is that?"

I grinned slightly. "Oh, I'm Shiro," I said cheekily.

Kiba cleared his throat. "I believe she's referring to the familiar on your shoulders."

"Oh, right." I nodded toward Frost. "This is Frost. She's an Ice Phoenix and now my familiar."

The familiar master gawked, his disbelief evident. "H-how did you tame her?"

"I didn't," I replied with a shrug. "She wanted to become my familiar, so I agreed."

Frost, in her usual graceful tone, added, "You all shall refer to me as Frost now."

Rias blinked, still processing. "Wait… is an Ice Phoenix rare?"

The familiar master managed to pull himself together enough to answer. "An Ice Phoenix is not just rare—it's on par with a Dragon King. But this one… Frost… she's even fought Tiamat before. From what I've heard, they respect each other as rivals."

Frost nodded regally. "Indeed. Tiamat is a master of ice, much like myself."

I tilted my head. "Wait, 'now'? What do you mean by 'now'?"

Frost sighed nostalgically. "I have lived for over three thousand years, and I've known Tiamat for two thousand of those. When we first met, she struggled to control her ice abilities. I guided her, and for a time, it was like a teacher-student relationship. But as she grew stronger, she eventually declared herself my rival. We've fought several times since then, always with respect."

I scratched the back of my head. "Well, just don't destroy my house, okay? I'm already saving up for a bigger one."

Rias looked curious. "What do you need a bigger house for?"

"You've met Alucard, right?" I asked.

"Yes," Rias replied. "He's quite… cultured. It's nice to have conversations with him."

I grinned. "Well, he's a vampire king, technically. Since I beat him in a duel, he's more like a grumpy grandpa watching over Asia."

"Wait, what?" Rias looked stunned. "He's a vampire king?"

"Yep," I confirmed. "He's been watching over Asia since she came to live with us."

"Asia?" Rias asked, her confusion deepening.

"Oh, right." I realized I hadn't mentioned her before. "Asia is a former nun who got kicked out of the church because she healed a devil."

Rias blinked, trying to take it all in. "That's… a lot."

"One more thing," I added. "Would you mind enrolling Asia in school? She deserves an education, and I'd like to keep an eye on her during the day."

Rias sighed, rubbing her temples. "Fine. But do me a favor—let me know if anything supernatural comes up again."

"Will do," I said with a grin.

"Good. Now, let's go home," Rias said, shaking her head as she started leading the group back.

As we walked through the door, Frost perched comfortably on my shoulders. Alucard and Asia were in the kitchen. Asia appeared to be teaching Alucard how to cook, though the sight of a vampire king delicately handling kitchen utensils was almost comical. They both turned toward us, their eyes widening as they noticed Frost.

"Hey, Frost," I said, "mind staying here for a bit? I need to take care of something in my room."

She stretched her wings, hopping off my shoulders and transforming into her human form with a flicker of icy magic. "Sure," she said coolly, reclining effortlessly on the couch.

I nodded and headed to my room, closing the door behind me. Almost immediately, I heard Voltaris's voice in my mind.

"Shiro, do me a favor and check out your stats."

"How do you know about that?" I asked, raising an eyebrow.

"I see everything you see—or at least what you want me to see," Voltaris replied smoothly.

"Fair enough," I said, opening my stats window.

I smiled as I reviewed the numbers. My growth was undeniable. "Not bad," I muttered, feeling a sense of satisfaction.

"You're growing stronger," Voltaris observed, his tone proud. I felt the familiar weight of him perching on my shoulders.

"Yeah, I know," I replied. "Next week, I'll start crafting those swords—first the holy one, then the cursed one. I just need the right materials."

Voltaris chuckled. "About those dragon wings you have," he said, shifting the topic.

"What about them?"

"I can make them permanent," he explained. "You'd have full control over them—able to summon and conceal them at will, like your fox ears and tail. But the process will be excruciating. It's like growing new limbs, but at an accelerated rate."

I considered it for a moment before nodding. "Let's do it," I said. "But let's head into a dungeon first. I don't want to scream bloody murder at home."

Small …. – Zombie Dungeon

I prepared carefully, setting up sentries and barricades to hold off the undead while Voltaris worked on my wings. "All right, I'm ready," I said, bracing myself. "Go ahead, Voltaris."

"Remember," he said gravely, "it's going to hurt like hell. But it'll be worth it."

The moment he began, an excruciating pain tore through my back, dropping me to the ground. My fingers clawed into the grass as I gritted my teeth, trying to endure the sensation of something growing rapidly from my shoulder blades.

"Ahhh!" I screamed, unable to contain the agony.

"Bear with it!" Voltaris encouraged, his voice firm but supportive.

I clenched my fists, focusing on his words. The pain was relentless, but I could feel something taking shape. My shirt tore audibly, and then, just as suddenly as it began, the pain subsided.

Panting heavily, I pushed myself to my knees. "Is it over?" I asked, my voice shaky.

Voltaris sounded pleased. "Yes. You did well."

I glanced over my shoulder and saw a pair of majestic, scaled dragon wings, the same color as my hair. They shimmered faintly in the light, flexing as if testing their new existence.

I couldn't help but smile, despite the lingering soreness. "Not bad," I said, admiring their grandeur.

"You'll find them useful," Voltaris added. "Practice flying soon. For now, recover."

I nodded and sat back to catch my breath, proud of this new milestone.
