Chapter 79: Chapter 78 – “Storms Beyond the Walls”
Chapter 78 – "Storms Beyond the Walls"
In a quiet meeting hall within Konoha's central district, the heads of three noble clans gathered.
Shikaku Nara sat with his fingers steepled under his chin, calm as ever. To his right, Choza Akimichi sipped from a steaming bowl of miso soup, his brow furrowed. Inoichi Yamanaka leaned forward, scanning the scroll spread across the table, Tsunade's formal notice of Danzo's death and the disbandment of Root.
None of them spoke for a long time.
Finally, Shikaku exhaled. "Well. That was… decisive."
Inoichi frowned. "She didn't mince words."
"She didn't need to," Choza said, eyes narrowing. "She executed a silent coup inside our own walls. And from the sound of it… it was justified."
Shikaku nodded slowly. "Danzo was always dangerous. We knew that. But this confirms he didn't just bend the law. He broke it. Repeatedly."
"And Tsunade-sama crushed it all in a single night," Inoichi added. "With help."
The room grew quiet again.
"Hajime," Shikaku said at last.
"Outsider," Choza muttered.
"Fifth Hokage-sama apprentice," Inoichi corrected. "Whatever he is, he's not just a medical Jonin, and his seducing my daughter." Inoichi said with veins in his head, then relax.
They shared a look.
"The clans will support her," Shikaku said. "But we need to make it public."
"Yes," Inoichi agreed. "We'll reaffirm our allegiance. Let the civilians and the Council see that the Ino-Shika-Cho stand with the Hokage."
Choza nodded. "No hesitation."
With the signatures of three clans, Konoha's internal power structure shifted firmly into Tsunade's grasp.
Hyuga Compound – Hiashi's Private Chambers
Hiashi Hyuga stood near a window, arms folded, watching the leaf-dappled sunlight fall over the Hyuga training yard. Behind him, a sealed scroll from the Hokage's office lay unopened, its contents already known by word of mouth.
Danzo was dead.
Hiashi's brow furrowed. He'd met the man. Knew his cunning, his paranoia. Danzo may have been a poison, but he was a potent one. Removing him wasn't just risky, it was like uprooting a snake's nest barehanded.
And yet…
Tsunade had done it. Quietly. Efficiently.
More shocking, the whispers said she hadn't done it alone.
That boy. Hajime…
Hiashi's lips thinned.
He'd seen Hajime only briefly. A strange tall muscular young man. Polite, but distant. Moved like a shinobi but carried himself like something else.
To kill through Root's operatives, then reach Danzo himself…
Hiashi closed his eyes briefly. That takes power. Precision. Will. At least Kage level.
Tsunade hadn't trained just a medical apprentice.
She had forged a blade.
Hiashi turned toward the door. "Send a letter to the Hokage. The Hyuga Clan reaffirms its loyalty, and offers its full support."
No hesitation.
Land of Lightning – Kumogakure, Raikage's Office
The Fourth Raikage slammed a fist down on the polished desk, cracking the wood beneath.
"What do you mean Danzo is dead?!"
A trembling aide held up the latest scroll from Konoha intelligence. "We intercepted this early morning, sir. Danzo Shimura, elder and advisor to Konoha, was reportedly executed during a purge led by the Fifth Hokage."
Raikage glared. "That old snake is dead? How?!"
"No details, sir. It just says he resisted and was killed in action."
The Raikage paced like a caged bull. "This is the second Hokage-level death in less than six months. First Hiruzen, now Danzo. They were weakened by Orochimaru's attack. Then invaded from the inside by the Sand. Now internal purges?"
He stopped mid-stride.
"Konoha's unstable."
The aide hesitated. "Some of the records mention the involvement of Tsunade's apprentice… no ranks known though. Possibly medical division. A 'Hajime.'"
Raikage scoffed. "A Tsunade Apprentice killed Danzo? Don't insult me."
He turned to the window. "Mobilize a probe squad. Light and fast. I want our sensors near their border."
"Sir?"
"Don't invade yet," Raikage growled. "But we need to know if the leaf is bleeding or just barking."
Land of Wind – Sunagakure, Kazekage Office
Gaara of the Sand read the message in silence.
Behind him, Baki stood stiffly.
"They really killed Danzo?" the older man asked.
Gaara nodded slowly. "Tsunade executed the operation herself. And silenced Root."
"She's more ruthless than we gave her credit for."
Gaara said nothing for a long moment. Then folded the scroll.
"We will not move against them," he said quietly. "Konoha supported us through my own crisis. And Danzo was a threat to us all."
"Understood," Baki replied, bowing.
"And send a personal message to the Hokage," Gaara added. "She has my respect."
Land of Earth – Iwagakure, Tsuchikage's Hall
Onoki squinted at the missive.
"Another Hokage mess, eh?" he muttered.
His attendant bowed. "It appears their own inner circle is falling apart, Lord Tsuchikage."
"Maybe," Onoki murmured. "But Tsunade's stronger than she looks. Her apprentice… that's new."
"What do we do?"
"We wait. Let the Leaf rot itself out. Or survive. Either way, we don't need to dirty our hands."
He leaned back, stroking his beard. "But keep an eye on this Hajime. Anyone who makes Danzo die screaming is worth remembering."
Land of Water – Kirigakure, Mizukage Office
Mei Terumi read the report twice.
"Danzo is dead," she said aloud, lips curving slightly. "Now that's news."
Ao frowned. "Konoha seems to be in political chaos."
Mei twirled a strand of her hair. "They've always been messy. But I didn't think Tsunade had it in her to move against her own council."
Ao said "It said that Tsunade apprentice killed danzo"
Mei's eyes lit up with curiosity. "Oh? A Tsunade apprentice took out Danzo?"
"That's What The info's Say, but I think it's not true, if it's true doesn't it mean there are another Kage in Konoha."
She hummed. "Send someone to gather more information. Discreetly."
Back in Konoha – Hokage Tower, Night
Tsunade sat alone in her office, the weight of the day finally pressing against her shoulders.
Reports from every sector flowed in. Raids completed. Root operatives captured. Infrastructure reclaimed. The elders, now confined, no longer whispered in her ear.
And across the desk, Hajime's map lay, no longer a warning, but a record of what was cleansed.
The rot had been cut out.
But the world was watching.
