As Ex-Machina In No Game No Life: Zero

I descended from the sky, my arrival heralded by a blast of powerful, dramatic music. The sound emanated from the ring-shaped device floating just above my head, which pulsed with light in time with the beat.

As mentioned before, I had... upgraded my hardware. The device was no longer just a housing for my Dimensional Engine. It was now a multi-tool, complete with a state-of-the-art music player module.

But this was no ordinary music.

I had taken the data from Miku's Angel, Gabriel, and integrated its core functions directly into my processor. By channeling my energy through the sound waves it produced, I could replicate her abilities.

The device on my head was no longer just a music player.

It was my very own Pseudo-Gabriel.

The results of this replication were far more successful than my last attempt. Unlike the abstract, reality-bending nature of Rasiel, Gabriel's abilities were more straightforward. 

As a result, my Pseudo-Gabriel had inherited all of the original's functions. It was still a counterfeit, its base power slightly weaker than the genuine article, but I could easily compensate for that by simply pumping more energy into it.

The music currently blasting from my processor was the application of one of those functions: March. It was a buffing melody that amplified the abilities of anyone who heard it. And right now, the only one I had selected to receive that buff was me.

Gabriel's powers were activated by singing different songs. For a being like me, with a perfect audio synthesizer and a digital library of every song ever recorded by humanity, this was trivial. 

The song currently playing was one I had pulled from the archives of my past life a piece of BGM from some old anime or game.

My gaze was fixed on a specific point in the rubble below. A mound of concrete and steel that was just slightly... off. That was where my last shot had landed.

I had used Pseudo-El Nahash. The arrow had slammed into Yoshino's giant ice rabbit, Zadkiel, and sent it crashing back into the base of the very building it had just burst out of.

I hadn't stumbled upon this scene by chance. After acquiring Miku's Angel, I had spent the past twenty-four hours not only integrating its power into my systems but also using my new Pseudo-Rasiel to look into the future. 

I knew this confrontation between Shido, Yoshino, and the AST was going to happen.

As I watched, the rubble below began to stir.

The massive ice rabbit clawed its way out of the wreckage. The colossal lance I had shot at it was still embedded in its side. With a roar of fury, it swatted the lance away and glared up at me.

Even from this altitude, my optical sensors could easily pick out the small figure huddled on the back of the rabbit's neck. 

Yoshino was trembling, her eyes wide with terror. She recognized me. She remembered the silent, ghost-like machine that had hunted her in the rain.

Her fear overrode any instinct to fight. All she wanted to do was run. Her Angel, reflecting her will, let out a few defiant roars before turning to flee.

But I wasn't about to let her get away.

Hmph. Trying to escape? Not this time.

" Endo Armament: Activate "

" Pseudo-Endo: El Re'em "

A chain of golden light materialized on my arm. At my command, it shot downwards, faster than sound, a blur of gold against the dark sky.

In an instant, it reached Zadkiel. The chain wrapped around the ice rabbit's colossal form like a serpent, binding its limbs. 

It struck again and again, weaving in and out of the ground, pinning the beast with each pass until it was completely immobilized. 

Zadkiel thrashed and roared, but it was like a fly caught in a spider's web. It was trapped.

With its movements sealed, I raised my free arm and took aim. A closer look would reveal that I wasn't targeting the giant rabbit. I was aiming for the small, terrified girl on its neck. 

This was to prevent her from simply recalling her Angel and escaping the chains. A minor inconvenience, but one I preferred to avoid.

My arm began to shift and transform. Metal plates slid into new positions, conduits re-routed, and the entire limb reformed into the shape of a cannon. 

A golden, clock-faced mechanism materialized at my shoulder, connected by eight glowing tubes to a series of cylindrical chambers along the barrel.

The dark muzzle of the cannon pointed directly at Yoshino.

" Zayin! "

The epic music abruptly cut out. A single, clear chime rang out from the clock on my shoulder. 

The chamber marked with the Roman numeral VII glowed, then slid into place. Golden energy flowed down the corresponding tube and into the cannon's firing mechanism.

The entire transformation, from arm to aimed-and-loaded cannon, took less than a second.

A brilliant golden light flared at the muzzle. A beam of pure energy shot forth.

There was no time to react. The laser pierced through both Yoshino and the ice rabbit beneath her.

But there was no wound. No blood. Instead, where the beam passed, both Yoshino and Zadkiel were frozen in place, locked in a single moment of time.

Satisfied, I descended, landing softly on the now-stationary ice rabbit, directly in front of the time-locked girl. 

The modifications were a success. This was more than just using a copied weapon; this was a true fusion of my own technology and a Spirit's power. 

The thrill of it was intoxicating.

And what of the AST team that had been hunting Yoshino?

They were my first priority. The moment I arrived, I had hacked their Realizer units, causing a system-wide crash. 

Then, with their defensive fields down, I had simply switched the song playing from my processor.

The buffing March was replaced by the lilting, irresistible melody of Solo.

To be safe, I had even boosted the power of Pseudo-Gavelet, ensuring the AST units' minds were completely under my control. 

After issuing a final command, "Go home, rest. When you awaken, you will remember nothing of this." I had turned my attention back to Yoshino.
