Chapter 20: Luffy Vs Don
Morning sunlight danced across the Baratie's deck as Don Krieg crashed against the wooden planks, his golden armor cracking but holding.
The impact sent tremors through the restaurant, causing glasses to rattle and patrons to gasp.
Inside, Leon continued enjoying his dessert, golden eyes fixed on the scene unfolding beyond the windows. The spoon clinked softly against fine china as he took another bite of chocolate soufflé.
"Shouldn't we intervene, sir?" Lieutenant Commander Aria asked, her hand resting on one of her twin pistols.
Leon shook his head slightly. "This is Luffy's fight."
"He's your brother," Aria pressed, her professional tone barely masking her confusion. "And that's Don Krieg - the 'Pirate Admiral' with a seventeen million berry bounty."
"Precisely why Luffy needs to handle this himself," Leon replied, savoring another bite. "Growth requires challenge."
Across the restaurant, Zoro leaned against a wall, arms crossed, watching the battle carefully. Nami sat nearby, her expression shifting between concern and trust in Luffy.
Outside, Krieg rose to his full height, adjusting his damaged armor with a sneer.
"You've got some nerve, boy," he growled, "Do you have any idea who I am? I command fifty ships! The most powerful armada in the East Blue!"
Luffy cracked his knuckles, his straw hat shadowing his eyes. "I don't care how many ships you have. You threatened these people after they fed you. That's unforgivable."
"Such naivety!" Krieg laughed, his voice booming across the water. "This is how the world works, boy. The strong take what they want!"
"Shut up and fight already," Luffy replied, bouncing on his heels. "I'm hungry."
----------------------
Aboard the Going Merry, Usopp adjusted his spyglass with trembling hands, watching the confrontation from a safe distance.
"That's Don Krieg!" he muttered to himself, sweat beading on his forehead. "The Pirate Admiral with a fleet of fifty ships! And Luffy's fighting him head-on!"
He noticed the Marine vessel anchored nearby, spotting a blonde officer - not being able to see his face - eating while the battle is going on
"Marines too? This is getting worse by the minute! Why aren't they arresting everyone?"
Usopp's hands shook as he prepared his slingshot and ammunition, though he made no move to join the battle.
"I'll just... stay here and protect the Merry. That's what a brave warrior would do. Definitely."
--------------------------
Krieg's laughter cut short as he swung his arm, revealing a hidden mechanism. "Enough talk! Die!"
Small darts shot from his wristband, whistling through the air toward Luffy. The rubber boy twisted his body unnaturally, the projectiles sailing past him to embed in the Baratie's exterior wall.
"Is that all you've got?" Luffy taunted, stretching his arm back. "Gum-Gum Pistol!"
His fist rocketed forward, but Krieg was ready. A shield emerged from his armor, deflecting Luffy's punch with a clang.
"My armor contains every weapon known to man!" Krieg boasted, the shield retracting seamlessly. "You can't possibly-"
Luffy didn't wait for him to finish. He charged forward, unleashing a barrage of punches that forced Krieg back toward the edge of the platform.
"Gum-Gum Gatling!"
---------------------
Inside the restaurant, Nami leaned toward Leon. "Can he really win against someone like Krieg?"
Leon took a sip of water before answering. "My brother has always had a talent for surpassing people's expectations."
'Not mine in this case, since I very much expect him to win. My little brother isn't a weakling fraud after all.'
Zoro nodded in agreement. "Luffy's fighting style makes no sense, but it works. His unpredictability is his strength."
On the deck, Krieg unleashed another weapon - a massive ball attached to a chain that whirled through the air toward Luffy.
"Diamond Joust!" Krieg roared as the weapon smashed into the platform where Luffy had stood a moment before.
Wood splintered, sending debris flying. Sanji shouted from the doorway, "Hey! Watch the restaurant, you bastards!"
"Sorry!" Luffy called back, dodging another swing. "I can't really control where he attacks!"
Krieg's frustration grew visible as more of his weapons proved ineffective against Luffy's rubber body. His once-confident expression had hardened into rage.
"You're just a no-name rookie!" he snarled, deploying yet another hidden weapon. "You can't defeat Don Krieg!"
"Being Pirate King isn't about having the most weapons," Luffy replied, landing a solid hit that cracked Krieg's breastplate. "Or the biggest ship!"
-------------------------
On the damaged flagship, Gin watched the battle with growing discomfort. His hands gripped the railing tightly, knuckles white with tension.
Sanji approached, offering a cigarette which Gin accepted with slightly trembling fingers.
"You don't approve of what he's doing," Sanji observed, lighting the cigarette for him.
Gin exhaled smoke slowly, his eyes never leaving the battle. "It doesn't matter what I think. He's my captain."
"Even when he breaks his word? Attacks those who fed him?"
"You don't understand," Gin replied, his voice low and strained. "When everyone else left me to die, Krieg gave me purpose. A place to belong." His fingers tightened around his tonfa. "I owe him everything... even when I hate what he does."
Sanji studied him thoughtfully. "Is that really loyalty? Or just fear disguised as devotion?"
Gin didn't answer, his expression revealing the war within him - disgust at Krieg's tactics battling his ingrained loyalty.
"Some chains can't be broken," he finally said, "even when you can see they're destroying you."
----------------------
Krieg retreated to the fallen mast of his ship, which now formed a narrow bridge over the water. Blood trickled from a cut above his eye, his golden armor dented and cracked in multiple places.
"You think you've won?" he snarled. "You know nothing of the Grand Line's horrors!"
Luffy followed him onto the mast, balancing easily despite the narrow footing.
"We had fifty ships!" Krieg continued, desperation entering his voice. "Fifty! And we were decimated in seven days by one man!"
This caught everyone's attention.
"One man?" Luffy repeated, head tilted curiously.
"A demon with the eyes of a hawk," Krieg spat. "He followed us for sport, cutting our ships to pieces with a single black sword."
------------------------
Inside the restaurant, Leon's expression shifted almost imperceptibly. Only Aria noticed, glancing at him curiously.
------------------------
Krieg's eyes narrowed, seeing his psychological attack had failed to intimidate Luffy. With a snarl, he reached for a small canister on his belt.
"Then die with everyone else! MH5!"
He hurled the canister into the air between the ships. It exploded with a metallic pop, releasing a rapidly expanding purple cloud.
"Poison gas!" someone screamed. Patrons and cooks scrambled for cover, some diving into the water, others rushing to look for anything that can help.
----------------------
Inside, Leon stood suddenly.
"That's enough," he stated, moving toward the door.
Aria followed immediately, hand on her weapon. "Sir?"
"This won't take long."
Leon stepped onto the deck as the poison cloud expanded, his expression calm.
Without drawing his sword, Leon inhaled deeply. His chest barely expanded.
Then he exhaled.
The air before him distorted. His breath cut through the poison cloud like a blade through silk, carving a perfect tunnel of clear air that expanded outward. The purple gas scattered violently upward, dissipating into the sky.
Eventually not a single drop of poison remained.
Silence fell across the water. Every eye fixed on the Marine who had dispelled a lethal weapon with nothing but his breath.
Leon decided to take a seat the Baratie's roof for a better view, then gazed at Krieg and wagged his index finger at him.
"Tch, tch, tch. No, no, no," he chided, as if correcting a child. "This fight is between you and my brother. Keep the collateral damage to a minimum, if you please."
Krieg's face contorted with rage and fear. "Who the hell do you think-"
"Thanks, Leon!" Luffy interrupted,, grinning widely as he cracked his knuckles again. "Now where were we?"
Krieg turned back to Luffy, but he continued to sometimes side glance to Leon, who to Krieg was like a bird of prey looking down at him squirm from the sky, and merely toying with him.
This made him fucking rage.
"Mighty Battle Spear!"
The weapon appeared in Krieg's hands without warning. He thrust it forward instantly.
The spear took Luffy by surprise - and since how close they were from when Luffy ran towards him to stop his gas, it connected with his chest and detonated.
Thunder cracked. Wood splintered. Luffy's body vanished in the explosion, hurled backward into the restaurant's fin. Smoke billowed outward.
"Damn it!" Sanji lunged forward, but Zeff's hand clamped on his shoulder.
"Wait." The old chef's eyes never left the smoke. "Watch."
A silhouette appeared in the clearing haze. Luffy stood, blood trickling from his mouth, eyes shadowed by his straw hat.
"Still alive?" Krieg snarled, raising his spear. "DIE!"
Luffy's fist instantly shot forward. When it connected with Krieg's golden breastplate, the "indestructible" armor didn't just break - it exploded.
Wootz steel fragments rained across the deck like golden confetti. Krieg staggered backward, eyes wide with disbelief.
"IMPOSSIBLE!" Blood sprayed from his lips. "This is the strongest armor in the East Blue!"
Leon's lips curved into a knowing smile. "So, he's finally able to do it. About fucking time..." he muttered under his breath.
Luffy advanced relentlessly across the narrow mast. Each step cracked the wood beneath his sandals.
"I don't care about your stupid armor! Or some stupid title like 'Pirate Admiral' or whatever! I am going to beat you up!"
Desperation twisted Krieg's face. He swung his spear wildly, all strategy abandoned. "I AM DON KRIEG! YOU'RE NOTHING!"
"Gum-Gum..." Luffy's arms stretched far behind him, muscles coiling like springs.
Krieg thrust his spear forward in one final, desperate attack.
"BAZOOKA!"
Luffy's palms slammed into Krieg's exposed chest. A visible shockwave rippled across the water's surface. Krieg's body folded around Luffy's hands before launching backward like a human cannonball.
He crashed into the sea, golden armor dragging him down like an anchor. His crew - having watched in the distance, jumped out and scrambled to fish him out before he drowned.
The Baratie erupted in cheers. Luffy stood victorious, chest heaving, fists still clenched.
Gin - who had also jumped - helped his waterlogged captain aboard a small boat.
"Rest, Captain," he said quietly. "We'll regroup and find another way."
Suddenly though, something insane happened.
Krieg's massive flagship - which had remained mostly intact - suddenly separated. The cut was perfectly clean, as if drawn with a ruler.
Water rushed between the halves as they drifted apart.
No sound. No warning.
The celebration died instantly.
Silence fell across the water as if sound itself had been cut away. A strange pressure descended, making breathing difficult.
"It's him!" A Krieg pirate finally regaining his voice screamed, diving overboard in terror. "The hawk-eyed man! He followed us!"
Through the gap between the ship's halves came a small, coffin-shaped boat. It moved without sail or oar, slicing through waves as if they weren't there.
Zoro's entire body tensed, hand instantly finding his white sword. Leon himself went perfectly still.
The boat glided to a stop beside the broken mast. Its sole occupant sat cross-legged, a massive black blade resting across his lap. Hawk-like eyes surveyed the scene with casual disinterest.
Dracule Mihawk had arrived.

(Author note: Hello everyone, I hope you all enjoyed the chapter.
I know, Luffy's fight with Krieg wasn't well... my best written fight, I kinda half-assed it, sorry. Most of us probably knew how that fight went, and well, I decided to cut it short - besides adding some changes, and all that.
But the most important thing is, Mihawk has finally arrived.
Next chapter, we'll see father and son meeting again.
I hope you guys are excited.
I hope to see you all later,
Bye!)
