Ascension of Chaos

B2 | Chapter 31

Ashley

I give a firm nod of my head after finishing up in the Official System Event, winning the thing as usual. Then I begin to head over to my bed to lie down while I mess around with getting more used to my skills.

But right as I'm about to lie down, a notification appears in my vision. One that's a little surprising.

The next Class S Planetary Official System Event has officially begun its preparation period!

This Planetary Official System Event will be taking place within one hour, and anyone can view it so long as they have an event streamer available for them to watch in a nearby Spire!

Additionally, if you are a Class B hunter or above, you may watch the event within the stadium.

Or if you are a Class S hunter, you can enter the spectating VIP Viewing Room for the event itself!

This Class S Planetary Official System Event will be between the following two worlds/realms:

Arelius

Purgatory

Oh. Right.

I almost forgot that Dhalia had one of those coming up soon.

It's too bad I can't watch it in that VIP Viewing Room thing. Or in the stadium at all.

"Who said you can't?" Chaos suddenly says while reappearing next to me, making me blink at him before raising a brow.

Then he just snaps his fingers, and I find myself appearing in some sort of fancy room with a single large window looking out over a large stadium. One with multiple screens all around the room, numerous luxurious places to sit including regular chairs, couches, and so on, and several other people seated on them.

Huh?

I look down at where I find myself sitting, just to see that I'm sitting on what's practically a throne, with another throne next to me that Chaos is currently lounging on. And the instant we appear, everyone in the viewing room immediately turns their gazes towards us.

Did you just…

"Who cares about the System's rules," Chaos says out loud, making me blankly stare at him again. "If you want to watch from here, you can. That's all there is to it."

Huh.

Thank you.

He smiles and nods his head before closing his eyes as if he's about to take a nap or something. Which I wouldn't be all that surprised by, considering how there's still an hour before the event begins.

Chaos really is just breaking all the rules for me… rules he made…

And I guess the System really can't punish him for breaking his own rules.

Sorta.

At least, not most of them.

There are some rules he said he could break without a majority vote from the other Primordials. So there's that at least.

Unauthorized duplication: this tale has been taken without consent. Report sightings.

On another note, I focus on the people in the viewing room, of which there aren't all that many. At most a few dozen.

And I feel rather weak just being in this room with them. Seeing as each one is a Class S hunter.

They're also all staring at me right now, but that makes sense. I am here despite not being Class S after all. Not to mention the fact that I'm next to Chaos.

Actually, I think more of them are staring at Chaos than at me. Which is interesting as well.

Either way though, I turn my attention away from the Class S hunters towards one of the screens which are showing the stadium.

My eyes narrow a little when I see Dhalia within that very stadium with her usual expressionless look on her face. Meanwhile there are five other Class S hunters next to her, some of which I recognize from Val.

As for the other team? The ones Dhalia is fighting against?

They're made up of six members too, with each of them wearing black and blue robes. And surprisingly without a single bladed weapon amongst the bunch.

I haven't heard much about this particular Class S world, so I don't know anything about their Class S hunters. But I can at the very least tell that they're most likely mages from their equipment alone.

Putting their identities and powers aside for the moment, I can't help but admire said equipment. Since their gear is incredibly powerful. And I can tell that without even holding their items or seeing their identify results.

Not that I can actually identify them.

The System probably blocks it or something.

Although Dhalia's teams' equipment is even better than theirs. But I already knew that from seeing their gear outside of this place. Back on Val.

Dhalia's team is also a lot more diverse. Even if they do have a lot of blade users.

Amongst their numbers, they have four blade users – two swords and two spears – along with one bow user and a mage with a staff. With Dhalia herself being one of the sword users.

Out of curiosity, I go ahead and look up both teams just to find some information about them. And what I find is rather interesting.

Both of the teams are almost equal in level at the very least. With Dhalia and the leader of the other team both being higher level than the rest of their teams, and Dhalia being a little higher level than her enemy team's captain.

So the teams are rather balanced except with Dhalia's team having a bit of an advantage. Both in level and equipment.

Oh, and there is actually a Successor on the other team as well. One of Etheria's.

A Successor of Magic.

And he is their team captain. The one whose level is almost on par with Dhalia's.

After looking at more of their information – both about the teams and the worlds behind them, or realms in the case of Purgatory – I turn my attention to the Official Planetary System Event itself. To its rules and description.

And it's definitely not like anything I've played in before. That's for sure.

Heart Defense Race

Description: The Great Race known as the Heart Defense Race is upon us once again! Join our twelve contestants as they compete to reach and destroy their opposing team's heart faster! During this incredible race, each team will have two phases. The defense phase and the offense phase. The team on the defense phase will be setting up defenses along a premade route. These defenses can include towers that will attack or affect the current offense phase team or even platforms where the team members of the defense team may stand and attack the passing offense phase team. Meanwhile the offense phase team may do nothing but defend and enhance themselves as they try to make their way to the defense team's heart.

Participant Count: 2 teams

Rules:

Defense Team: The defense team may only attack the offense team if they are on a platform. They may spend a set amount of Skill Points given to them at the beginning of the defense phase to purchase new towers and platforms, and may spend their own personal Skill Points if they believe the amount allotted to them is not enough. The defense team's goal is to make it take as long as possible for the offense team to reach and destroy their heart, or to kill off the offense team entirely.

Offense Team: The offense team may never attack the defense team. However, they may defend themselves so long as their powers do not leave the route. The offense team's goal is to reach the defense team's heart at the end of the route as fast as possible without dying.

Mutual Rules: The phase swaps once either the heart is reached, or all six members of the opposing team die. Should all six team members die, then the only way for that offense team to win is to kill off all six members of the defense team during their offense phase. And should they manage to do that, the phase once again switches and a new round will begin. All damage done to the route through a user or a tower will be repaired instantly five seconds after the damage is dealt.

Victory Condition: The first team to kill off all six members of their opposing team during their defense phase and destroy their heart during their offense phase will win. Additionally, the first team to destroy their opponent's heart during their offense phase should both teams destroy their opposing team's heart will win.

Rewards: Every user slain in the race grants the slayer 100 Skill Points. First place team receives an additional 10000 Skill Points per user in their team. Every monster slain grants the hunter 5 Skill Points. The user who gets the last hit on and destroys the opposing team's heart will be given an additional 2500 Skill Points.

Participants List

That's a much more detailed event than most of the ones I've been in.

And rather interesting too.
