Chapter 169: Brutal Slaughter
"Damn evil dragons!" Bren couldn't dodge in time and was struck directly by Dragonflame. The scorching tongues of fire raged across his body, charring his skin while the surrounding area turned into a sea of fire.
But this legendary dwarf warrior, relying on his robust physique, charged out of the inferno with his Great Sword in hand, rolling multiple times on the ground to extinguish the flames on his body.
At this moment, the dwarf was covered in blackened burns, his entire body scorched, even his hair and beard were burned clean off. Yet he felt no fear; instead, he slowly climbed back up from the ground.
Glaring at the distant Bipedal Wyvern, Bren lifted his Great Sword and pointed its tip toward the dragon's head, roaring furiously, "Come, fight me to the death!
Even a True Dragon has fallen before me. You, you're nothing more than a bigger crawling reptile in my eyes!"
"RAWR——"
Stieg erupted into an utterly furious roar. Flames of anger seemed ready to burst forth from his golden vertical pupils. The Dragon Scales on his face flared open, emanating scorching white smoke, as if they were about to explode from his wrath.
"You foolish dwarf! I am the Retainer of the Great Red Dragon, a Wyvern who flows with your Ashen blood!"
Evidently, Bren's remarks had hit Stieg's sore spot.
As his wisdom, might, and prestige grew, the Wyvern Leader increasingly detested his "inferior bloodline," hating the fact he wasn't born a proper True Dragon.
But under the ancestral Bloodline Gift of the Ashen Empire's Emperor, Stieg's bloodline had surpassed its original constraints, making him nobler than inferior True Dragons like the White Dragon, and far stronger than Red Dragons of his age.
To call Stieg the mightiest and largest Bipedal Wyvern of the Third Era was no exaggeration.
Seeing the Wyvern's mounting wrath, Bren provoked him even harder, shouting boldly, "A witless beast is always just a beast—it can never become a true Dragon!
Hahaha! Scream at me! Summon your Emperor to face me! Only he is worthy to duel, not you—you're far below qualification!
Hear me, I'm going to chop off the head of that Red Dragon and hang it upon Aivendel's walls!"
He aimed to utterly enrage the Dragon Blood Monster, driving him into complete madness to expose his weaknesses and deal a final fatal blow.
"Arrogant dwarf! You dare insult our Emperor—you are courting death!"
Thunderous roars echoed above the city walls. In the height of frenzy, Stieg abruptly struck his wings, soaring into the sky, engulfed by cascading flames as he dove swiftly toward Bren.
"BOOM!"
Stieg opened his gaping maw and unleashed another torrent of blistering Dragonflame. The flames instantly consumed the walls below, scattering the defending dwarf soldiers as they fled in turmoil.
Soot-darkened smoke blanketed the heavens, ferocious flames roared. A fiery gale swept through; sparks flew everywhere, transforming the scenery into a chaotic ocean of mottled gray, black, and vibrant orange-red.
Against such a scourge-like menace, the dwarf warrior showed steadfast defiance, gripping his Great Sword single-handedly, standing tall, and shouting upward at the oncoming Wyvern, "Come on, cursed mongrel! You will never defeat a dwarf warrior!"
When Stieg approached, Bren suddenly leapt forward, stomping onto the city wall. Using its side as a foothold, he propelled himself upward, dodging the Dragon Breath while soaring high into the sky, swinging his Great Sword relentlessly.
Jump Slash! Another Jump Slash!
Based on the dwarf warrior's immense experience, the Jump Slash was the most effective strategy against massive monsters—it always delivered potentially fatal blows to these colossal beings.
"Take this!"
Bren roared with every ounce of strength in his voice, the Great Sword tore through the air, wielding an unstoppable force as it aimed directly at the Bipedal Wyvern's head.
The Wyvern, while not as nimble as a True Dragon with forward claws, still possessed agile forelimbs covered in Wing Membranes.
"SWISH——"
Stieg abruptly flapped his enormous wings, stirring a fiery gale, propelling his massive body backwards.
Meanwhile, his gaping maw aligned perfectly with the airborne dwarf. A harsh light shone within the depths of his throat—the surging heat erupted forcefully toward Bren.
Bren quickly adjusted his actions and raised the Great Sword as a shield to fend off the Wyvern's Dragon Breath. The impact sent him plummeting back toward the ground.
But Stieg wouldn't waste such an opportune moment. Intensifying the Breath, he swung his thick, robust tail simultaneously.
"SLASH——"
Accompanied by an ear-piercing sound, the tip of his tail sliced through the air—laced with neurotoxin-infused barbs native to Bipedal Wyverns, deadly enough to knock even Land Dragon Beasts into unconsciousness. Though Bren was a Legendary dwarf, the poison could still affect him.
Facing this deadly tail strike, Bren gritted his teeth, abandoned defense, endured the searing Dragonflame, and fiercely swung his Great Sword toward his flank.
"CLANG——"
The clash of metal rang aloud in midair. Bren had knocked away the Wyvern's tail barb with the Great Sword, using the counterforce from the tail whip to adjust his trajectory and evade the engulfing flames.
"BOOM!"
His solid, muscular dwarf body crashed heavily onto the city wall, sending rubble flying and dust swirling—the impact left a gaping hole in the wall.
"ROAR——"
A resounding roar reverberated through the sky. Stieg pulled his wings close and extended his razor-sharp hind talons, poised to dive down from above, intent on crushing the embedded dwarf to death.
This Bipedal Wyvern strictly adhered to Cassius' teachings, fully understanding the importance of seizing opportunities and quickly delivering a killing blow—Stieg was not like certain boss characters in video games, lacklustre aggressors wasting precious time grooming scales or licking claws.
