"Ashes of Crestfall: The Rise of Aaron San Agustin"

Chapter 44: CHAPTER 44 – Wolves’ Covenant

Back in his penthouse, dawn's glow bled across the horizon like a fresh wound, slicing Velmont's skyline into gold and obsidian. His team gathered around the holographic tactical table, silent except for the flickering of satellite scans projected above glowing blueprints of western African deserts.

Aaron tapped a command, cycling images of defunct mines, dried river basins, and mineral deposits.

"Foundation in Africa," he said, his voice quiet but edged in iron resolve.

Bravo folded his arms across his chest, brow raised in a grin that carried both reverence and anticipation. "Empire build, Captain?"

Aaron nodded once, eyes never leaving the projection. "Exactly."

Specter's lips curled into a feral grin as her fingers ghosted across the knife at her belt. "Finally," she whispered, her tone vibrating with cold bloodlust, "a real hunt."

Ghost adjusted his glasses, fingers flickering across his tablet at rapid speed. "Satellite scans confirm stable bedrock here and here," he said, marking two points in the Saharan fringe. "Also accessible supply routes through coastal ports and interior highways. With local compliance or… coercion, construction could begin within sixty days."

"Coercion won't be a problem," Reaper rumbled as he cocked his rifle and slung it across his chest. "Long overdue we carved out territory instead of bleeding in someone else's."

Rook, leaning back in his chair, kicked his boots up onto the tactical console with a grin. "And what are we calling this little holiday trip, boss? Operation Camel Hump?"

The team chuckled lightly until Ghost deadpanned, "That's idiotic, Rook."

Aaron ignored them, his gaze scanning every flickering metric and topographic detail. "This isn't a holiday. This is sovereignty."

His phone buzzed. Maxeen's message appeared in encrypted overlay:

BITX Shadow Holdings will facilitate your requests. Africa awaits.

Specter's eyes darted to him, gleaming like silver daggers in the dim light. "BITX?" she asked quietly.

"Shadow investors," Aaron replied. "They think they control the world."

"And us?" Bravo asked, voice edged with mirthless humor.

"We'll build a world they can't even see."

Silence fell across the room, broken only by the rhythmic hum of the tactical table. Hawk finally spoke, his gravelly voice weighted with gravity.

"What's the end game, Captain? Power? Revenge? Legacy?"

Aaron's gaze flicked up, eyes black as the African night. "Peace."

"Peace?" Specter scoffed lightly, eyebrow arched. "In Africa?"

Aaron nodded. "Not the world's peace. Ours. A place untouched by politics or borders. A place for wolves."

Reaper's mouth twitched under his beard. "A kingdom for the hunted to become hunters again."

"Exactly," Aaron said softly, his voice carrying a chilling finality that silenced all further doubt.

The team fell quiet, each of them staring into the glowing blueprints. Dreams they never spoke aloud took shape before them: freedom, vengeance, sanctuary, dominion.

Outside, the private jet roared down Velmont's runway under twilight skies. Inside, Bravo sat beside Aaron, the muted cabin lights casting harsh shadows across his scarred face.

"You sure about this move, Captain?" he asked softly, his voice raw, watching Velmont's sprawl recede in a tapestry of amber lights and dark glass towers.

Aaron didn't look up from his tablet, eyes tracking schematics of armored vehicles and heavy equipment. His voice was quiet but thrummed with finality.

"I've spent my life in shadows, Bravo."

He finally looked up, their eyes locking with unbreakable brotherhood.

"Time to own them."

Bravo smirked, teeth bared in silent warlust. "Then let's build a kingdom worth fearing."

Aaron's phone vibrated again with another message from Maxeen:

Shadow Holdings finalizing approvals. Procurement channels active within 48 hours. Please bear with us, Mr. San Agustin.

He read it without reaction, his mind already in the scorching sands of Africa where an empire would rise from dust and blood. He set his tablet aside and closed his eyes.
