Chapter 121: Harbinger of Death, Immense Power

When Knox first sensed the power emanating from the #1 and #2 Rankers of the Fighting Arena, he felt as if they were in an entirely different league. The Bandit Leader from before seemed more akin to an ant in the face of these true powerhouses.

'If I were to fight them as I am… I'd probably lose…'

It was this realistic realization that re-ignited a fire inside Knox — one he thought he had lost long ago. It was this abrupt reignition that made him yearn for greater strength, for a greater challenge.

He had to become strong again.

Stronger than anyone in the Moonlord Kingdom.

Stronger than even the Monarchs of the Azura Empire!

Until he became invincible, he'd ceaselessly train — no matter how difficult it was or how long it took!!

"Power," said Knox, his emotionless façade cracking a little. "I need it."

With a resoluteness that welled up inside him and washed over his existence, he watched the insanely powerful fight before him unfold. And after a grand, bloody conclusion, with a new #1 Champion being crowned, Knox made his decision.

He'd rise up the ranks of this Fighting Arena and become the next #1. Then he'd venture to the other Branches of this Fighting Arena and become #1 in them as well.

And he'd continue doing that until he became the #1 Arena Fighter in the Moonlord Kingdom!

With that goal in mind, time marched forward for him and everyone else in the Azura Empire.

— 17 Years Later —

"Ladies and gentlemen, these are the Finals of the 7840th Annual Tournament of this here Fighting Arena!" The announcer shouted, making the crowd go absolutely wild. "And as I'm sure all of you are aware, our reigning Champion, Xue Ying Wang, the Bloodshadow King, has remained undefeated for 17 years straight! Will his winning streak continue, or will he fall in battle to the up-and-coming Rising Star!?"

At the mention of the Rising Star, everyone in the Spectators Stands lost their minds. Even the VIP Void Crossing Realm Guests began to freak out, urging each other to take out their binoculars and zoom in on the right side of the Arena — the side opposite where the domineering Bloodshadow King was standing with his arms folded.

"May I welcome the man ranked #2 in the Fighting Arena, a legend who rose up from nothing years ago and made his mark on the world! A godlike being who defeated millions of opponents in less than ten seconds each!"

RUMBLE—!!

"Knox Falazar, the One True Harbinger of Death!!!"

OOOOM!!

Thundering down in a bolt of crimson lightning, a man clad in black appeared on the northern side of the Arena. Neither his face could be seen nor his aura felt, but even while appearing no different from a regular Mortal, his presence was overwhelming enough to suffocate everyone regardless of their cultivation base.

Knox had even Void Crossing Realm Powerhouses gasping for air, yet also riding the excitement they were feeling.

Bloodshadow King narrowed his archaic eyes, seemingly trying to peer into Knox's soul and uncover all his secrets. However, after coming up empty-handed, he frowned, deciding to say:

"You're not of the Body Integration Realm, are you? And yet you beat the Immovable Mountain, who was a 1st Layer Body Integration Realm Cultivator."

"!!!" "!!!" "!!!"

Bloodshadow King's words sent a wave of shock coursing through the bodies of the spectators, for this was the first they'd heard of this.

Was the One True Harbinger of Death truly not a Body Integration Realm Powerhouse!?

But how was that possible!?

Giving no response to the boisterousness of the crowd, Knox focused entirely on the terrifyingly powerful man before him. And with eyes glowing a deathly shade of gold, he unleashed a certain amount of his power.

WAAA!

Rolling waves of crimson-purple energy instantly rippled outward, blowing back the hair and robes of every single person in the Arena. Their astonishment over finding out that he was not in the Body Integration Realm was quickly replaced by a feeling of dread that they couldn't even begin to properly describe.

Bloodshadow King's expression twisted in fury, for he of all people actually felt fear. And it was this harrowing feeling that had him blasting out with his full strength.

A few of the Spectators snapped out of their dumbfounded reveries, but as soon as some color returned to their complexions, it left just as quickly.

The 3rd Layer Body Integration Realm!

The Bloodshadow King really made a breakthrough into the 3rd Layer Body Integration Realm before even reaching 2000 years of age!

Insanity!

What a prodigy!!

"This battle will be one for the record books, folks!" The Announcer finally found his voice, nearly leaning off the edge of his seat from pure excitement. "Although we've learned that the Harbinger is not even of the Body Integration Realm and that Bloodshadow King achieved a groundbreaking breakthrough, the fight will go on as originally scheduled! Therefore, I announce that the 7840th Annual Fighting Arena Tournament—....."

HOOOORAAAAHH!!

"Begins NOW!!!"

*Fwooop!*

In an instant, and without anyone having even seen what happened, the two topmost rankers of the Fighting Arena clashed swords thousands of times. Sword marks sporadically formed all over the arena floor, blowing whole million-mile-wide chunks of the isolated space to smithereens.

Before the Spectators could finish blinking, a winner had already been decided. And it came at the cost of the entire isolated dimension being reduced to ruins.

With a bloodied body drenched in sweat and his lifeforce on the decline, Bloodshadow King looked up from his kneeling position in absolute terror. The shadowy figure standing over him was reflected as a bottomless Abyss in his eyes, one so indescribably incomprehensible that even pure darkness felt easier to understand.

And in his last moments, just before his life began to flash before his eyes, Bloodshadow King saw something that instantly aged him by ten thousand years. Deep within the Harbinger's body, there existed something that threatened the fabric of this reality.

"Y-You are," he mumbled despairingly. "How could you possibly be one of them—...."

SHING!

Without being able to finish his final few delirious words, an arc of sword energy cut through the air, shattering the integrity of the Isolated Dimension and cleaving Bloodshadow King into two. Everything from his Golden Core to his Primordial Soul was sliced into two.

Twos that then turned into fours, then eighths and sixteenths…

SHA! SHA! SHA!

The Bloodshadow King was diced up so many times in such a short duration that he entered a state of oblivion — never to regenerate, never to return to the world of the living. Only the endless cycle of rebirth and reincarnation could hope to put him back together in preparation for the next life.

*Ding!*

[You have slain a 3rd Layer Body Integration Realm Cultivator!]

[78 Trillion Attribute Value worth of Attribute Orbs has dropped! Would you like to collect them all?]

Knox nodded, with a lethal glow flickering in his merciless gaze as he watched the residual specks of the Bloodshadow King drift into Oblivion along with the rest of him.

[78 Trillion Attribute Value has been added to your Total Attribute Value!]

[Attribute Value has exceeded 1 Quadrillion, thus bringing forth a qualitative transformation for your Attribute Value!]

[Attribute Value (Ordinary) → Attribute Value (Better)]

[Every 1 Quadrillion Ordinary Attribute Value is the equivalent of a single point of Better Attribute Value! But don't take these numbers at face value, for as you're about to see, Better Attribute Value will do a whole lot more for you than Ordinary Attribute Value will!]

Feeling a tsunami's worth of power well up from inside him, Knox was forced to divert all of his focus toward making sure none of it leaked out. The amount was substantial enough to alert powerhouses in Dawnshaw City that he wasn't yet ready to contend with.

Even if he may have battle power in the Body Integration Realm, he was far from the strongest in the Moonlord Kingdom. Being arrogantly showy at this juncture was not an option.

Showing a little bit at a time every so often to obtain better benefits would be how he'd ascend the ladder of the Immortal Cultivation World.

Although still overcome with disbelief, the Announcer raised his voice, stuttering, "T-The winner of the 7840th Annual Fighting Arena Tournament in these here Districts is Knox Falazar—the Harbinger of Death!!!"

HOOOORAAAAHH!!

The whole arena erupted in cheers. Some spectators leapt out of their seats or took off their shirts, acting like mindless animals.

In truth, they were just so damn pumped up right now!

Even if they had no idea what the hell just happened, they knew that it was the epitome of coolness!!

Just look at the Harbinger, not a single scratch on him!

While sauntering out of the Arena, Knox was stopped by the organizers of the Annual Tournament. His gaze was weary as he asked them what they wanted, only for him to hear that they'd like to reward him with the Ultimate Reward of the Fighting Arena.
