Chapter 63: The Boy in the Iceberg
POV Callum
I followed behind Aang as he and Appa walked through the snowy wasteland, each one of us unbothered by the cold.
"Who's there?" Aang said, turning around his staff at the ready.
I just stood there waiting, keeping my illusion up, I waited until Aang turned back around and made his way further into the wastes of this vast snowy desert. This time I made sure to keep a bit further back, though Aang still looked back now and then.
A half an hour later Aang came up onto this donut shaped ice growing out of the earth. Aang Jumped into it, laying down with Appa sitting down nearby. Keeping my illusion up I pulled up my weapon creation function. I started off with a nice deep black wood staff, then caped both ends with some gold covering the ends of each side. After that I started carving some designs into the gold, leaving some complex designs that all stemmed from a yin yang symbol on both sides. Using another function I made the staff unbreakable and added a few other effects as well.
Next I started with my transformation ability, I didn't exactly want him to recognize me. At first I started transforming into an airbender but when I looked at the staff a wide smile stretched across my face. My face started to compress till it became more on the thin side, next my hands became a bit thicker than my feet where next became just another pair of hands; though ruffer. Finally a tail sprouted from my tailbone. Ending off the transition my skin became darker and rougher than brown hair grew from everywhere leaving only my face as well as the end of my fingers free. By the end of this I looked like a monkey human hybrid. I ended it off with a thin cold crown and a set of monk-like robes. Then I pulled up my status.

"Yeah, a five in airbending should work. It will at least let me act like an airbender" I said to myself.
Probably hearing me, Aang looked up in the direction where I was but again didn't see anything. Getting closer I waited until Aang stopped looking around before I dropped my illusion and spoke.
"Hello young avatar"
Aang jumped from where he was sitting yelling as he sailed fifteen feet into the air startled by the sudden sound.
"Who are you?" Aang asked, landing softly back on the snow.
"Hahaha" I laughed at his reaction "You can call me Wukong"
"What are you?" he asked, finally registering my appearance.
Giving him a chuckle I answered "A friend"
"That answers nothing," he said deadpanning.
"Perhaps not, let me explain more" I said, then I made a forward chopping motion with my hand letting a thin stream of air blow towards Aang ruffling his clothes.
"You're an airbender," Aang said, surprised and excited at the same time.
"Your partially right"
"What are you doing in the south pole?" he asked, his head tilted a bit in confusion.
"Fair question. I am here because you are here" I replied.
Shoulders and head dropping Aang said back "Those answers nothing. Again"
"I know. I wanted to know where you have been and where you are going"
Aang rubbed the back of his head saying "Well apparently I was trapped in an iceberg for a hundred years"
"Makes sense," I commented.
"How does that make sense?"
"Have you been to one of the airtemples yet?" I said changing the topic.
"No I haven't. Wow, my room is going to be covered in dust"
I didn't contradict the statement "I think you should go, find out what has happened in the last hundred years"
"Why what happened?" he asked.
Giving him my best casual sad face I answered saying "That is your you to find out"
"I will go as soon as Appa is rested then," Aang said, patting Appa.
"Not alone you won't"
"Of course Appa is with me," he said with a wide smile.
"Not what I meant. The girl and her brother"
"What about Sokka and Katara"
"Ever since they woke you up, your destinies have now become entwined. If you are to succeed as he avatar you will need them both with you"
"I don't think Sokka is willing to come with, I was just banished from the village"
Reaching into my pocket I pulled out a scroll and threw it over to him "Give them this"
"What is it?"
"Many years ago their father left the village to fight against the fire nation army. That is the location of him" I lied it was just the location of the tower. Though as far as I knew he could be there, I have yet to see him.
"How did you get this?"
Teleporting behind him I leaned down to speak in his ear "You called me an airbender, I told you, you were partially right".
Turning to face me again with a surprised look, Aang asked "Are you a spirit?"
"In a way"
"Can you stop being cryptic?"
"No"
"How am I supposed to explain how I got this?"
"Lie, tell the truth. It's all the same to me but whether they like it or not it is their destiny to go with you"
"You want me to lie? I don't know if I can do that"
"Like I said, it doesn't matter to me. Do what you must"
Chuckling I turned and started walking away deeper into the southern wastes, my staff digging into the snow as I walked.
"Wait where are you going?"
Glancing back, I waved to him yelling "I suggest after the air temple you make your way to Omashu. An old friend is waiting for you there".
Groaning Ang said "What does that even mean, it's been a hundred years"
Using my illusions I made it seem as if I simply faded away into the white landscape, and using my waterbending I made sure not even a footstep was left. It was like I was never there in the first place.
Keeping a respectful distance from Aang I watched as he made his way back towards the village where he was confronted by Sokka. I couldn't hear what was being said but I saw Aang hand over the scroll to Sokka. Soon after Aang entered the village with Sokka, most likely going to find Katara. Smiling, I dropped the illusion and transformed back into my normal for putting the staff into my inventory.
[Would you like to teleport back to your tower?]
[Cost: 200 tower points]
[yes/no]
"Yes"
To anyone looking at me they would see my body flicker for a second before I simply disappeared back to my tower. Now it was just a waiting game, who knows in the meantime I might actually see Hakoda at the tower. Now that all the nations have changed due to the tower, I wonder how Aang's journey will play out. Who knows I might even go with at some point.
