Chapter 67: The King of Omashu: part 1

Sorry for not posting yesterday I wanted to get caught up on the stories I've been reading. If you want to check out a good book, go to the website Royal Road and read the book "The Dungeon without a system". I have greatly enjoyed this story. Again, thank you for your patience as I got caught up with what I wanted to read.

POV 3rd person.

"What is with this line!" Sokka yelled with an exaggerated motion.

"Calm down Sokka, it's a city, people are trying to get in and out" Katara chastised.

Letting his annoyance show Sokka complained saying "I don't even know why we are here to begin with this is completely out of the way of where dad's supposed to be"

Giving him a smile Aang said "We are here because Wukong said we should come here"

"Oh yeah, let's follow the instructions of a human monkey which only one of us has ever seen," Sokka said sarcastically.

"The same person who gave us the map to dad," Katara finished.

"That doesn't even mean we should trust him, we don't even know if the map was good," Sokka said.

"I don't think he would lie to us, that's not what Airbenders are taught" aang argued.

"NEXT!"

Aang, Sokka, and Katara all stepped forwards approaching the group of guards at the front gate. All four guards looked bored out of their minds and two of them just hung their heads at the approach of the three young kids.

"City pass" a guard said, holding out their hand.

"What is a city pass?" Aang asked.

Sighing like it had been a long day the guard answered "Ever since the gate opened up city passes have been issued to cut down on traffic. Since you don't have one, I need your names and purpose for being here, as well as a small fee".

Katara stepped forward pulling out a few coins and handing them to the guard while answering his questions "I'm katara, this is my brother sokka and this is Aang"

"Stop" the guard said holding up his hand "You two are obviously watertribe but he doesn't look like he is and he's definitely not from the earth kingdom"

"I'm from Kangaroo island," Anng interrupted.

"Uh huh. Sure" The guard drawled out "And why are you here, im guessing to go through the gate?"

"Yes we need to get through into the city" Katara answered.

"Well then keep in mind that violence is off limits on floors one through five and is highly looked down upon all over the tower, and after entering the tower you have twenty four hours to report yourself to the adventurers guild" The guard advised.

"Yeah sure, so can we go now" Sokka interrupted, obviously not paying attention.

"I would watch your tone young man. People like you don't last very long above the fifth floor. So, try not to die"

"What did you say!" Sokka yelled out his voice cracking as he yelled.

Before the guards could speak Katara interrupted "Sorry about my brother ignore him, he's an idiot"

"A young man like that should be protecting his sister not acting like a buffoon" The guard said.

Katara leaned over to whisper in Aang's ear "I think we should go now this guard is giving me the creeps" she said unaware of the high-level climber Infront of her.

"I Agree" Aang said feeling the same uneasiness then turned to the guard "We really need to get going now so do you mind?"

"Yeah yeah, go one through" the guard waved them past.

All three of them walked past and through the gates into the city.

"This place is a lot busier than I remember," Aang said.

"There are also a lot of people armed with weapons," Sokka commented.

"Sokka it's a city at war with the fire nation, they are going to have weapons," Katara said.

"Yeah but as far as I know soldiers usually where the same armor"

"You right sokka, everyone is dressed differently" Aang said, taking note of the adventurers.

"So, where to now?" Sokka asked.

"I don't really know" Aang said "Wukong told be a friend is waiting for me here"

"It's been a hundred years who could even be aliv.." Sokka started but Katara elbowed him, making him shut up.

"Your right sokka I don't know who it could be but for now do you see those slides. They are used to transport mail all over the city"

"Yes, quite impressive and what is so interesting about mail?" Sokka asked.

"Well, me and my friend Bumi found a different use for them" Aang said, giving them a wide smile "Follow me".

Leading them through the city Aang directed them up to the higher levels till they made it to the beginning of one of the mails slides.

"Alright hop in," Aang instructed.

"Alright," Katara said hesitantly.

Hoping in behind Sokka and Katara he said "Hold on" then pushed them forwards.

As the gang raced through the city, they saw the bustling streets below and the sheer size of the mountain it was built on.

"Aang, can you do something about this speed"

"You're right, we should go faster," Aang answered, using his airbending to push them faster.

All three of them yelled, two in fear, the third in excitement as they went racing down the slide faster than before.

"Aang watch out"

Up ahead a group of earthbenders pushed a shipment of weapons up on the slide. Using his airbending to launch them into the air and towards another track.

"What is that?" Sokka said.

Aang, hearing this, turned his head and spotted the gate, its glowing runes covering it. In the archway was a forest-like forest slightly distorted, a sort of grey mist hung in front of it. What really caught their attention was the massive line of people waiting in a line stretching from it to the city gates.

"What is that?" Aang said, agreeing.

At that point the shipment of weapons caught up to them falling in line behind them. Rocking the cart, they were in Aang launched them off the slide and onto a nearby roof. Sliding down the roof they crashed through several houses and down into the lover levels of the city. At some point even picking up a cat that Momo didn't get along with. Finally crashing into the ground destroying the cart and the merchant's stall they landed on.

Shaking his head Aang said "Two cabbages please"

"My CABBAGES!!!" the Merchant yelled.

"We're alive!" Sokka yelled, kissing the ground.

Running over was a group of fifteen guards each one equipped with decent gear and each holding a magic weapon.

"Guards It was them, they came crashing down and destroyed my cabbages. I want…" the merchant started.

Surrounding them the guards left no opening pointing their spears and glaves at the three culprits of so much destruction.

"Don't worry you'll be compensated" A guard said to the merchant then turned to Aang "As for you you're coming with us"

Using earthbending some of the guards clasped each of the group's hands behind their back and took Aang's staff from him.

"We will let the king deal with you, and if any of you turn out to be climbers you will be expelled from the guild" A guard said.

As they were led towards the king's palace Katara leaned over to Aang saying "Did you see that arch thing"

"Yeah, it was weird, looking into it seemed like looking into a forest" Aang replied "And what were those glowing symbols? I can definitely say that that wasn't here last time I was"

"This time Sokka spoke up "Armed people, long lines, city passes, and now this adventurers guild? Something is going on here"

"I hate to admit it Aang but I think Sokka is right," Katara said.

"Well then I guess it's a good thing we are going to see the king," Aang replied.
