Chapter 16: Family meal.
“I want to borrow the family name.”
At my words, Thomas tilted his head in confusion.
“What? Is there a reason you want such a thing?”
“Yes.”
Hmmm… Judging by his reaction, he must have been monitored only in the family mansion.
[Goddess of Destiny asks you, what will you do with such a thing].
I don’t intend to answer her question, but I need to explain to Thomas, so I tell him about the hidden shop I noticed yesterday.
“Hmmm… yeah. I see. I’ll allow you to use the family name and invest in the shop you mentioned, but only if you make a fair deal with the owner.”
“Yes. I will.”
After I finished speaking with Thomas, I walked back to my room…
“Hmmm… The more I look at him, the more I marvelled.”
I don’t know how he did it, but from making a successful business out of holy water with nothing but a little alcohol in it, to having knowledge he didn’t know he had.
It’s all amazing.
It’s no exaggeration to say that the Constellation, with their long life span, know everything but the knowledge of the other world.
But.
The harvesting method that Kane showed me today is something I’ve never seen before, even from the perspective of a Constellation.
… Is he an Otherworlder?
As she thought about it, she shook her head in disapproval.
Kane obviously knows something she didn’t, but he’s acting like he knows too much about the Leiston Continent for an Otherworlder.
Judging from the reactions around him, the time he changed is roughly the day that Kim Soo-yong destroyed the Shadow Guild.
That means that Kane changed during the time that Kim Soo-yong was commissioning.
…No matter how you look at it, he’s not an Otherworlder.
I don’t know what made him change, but if he was an Otherworlder, he would have panicked at first.
Not just Kim Soo-yong, but all the otherworlders I’ve seen so far.
But Kane calmly avoided her, and not only that, he acted as if he knew her.
Even his attitude towards me was different from any mortal I had ever met.
Until now, the attitude of mortals chosen by me, the HConstellation, had been one of two things.
The first is that most of them act as if they are honored. The degree of honor is such that they kneel down and put their hands together in prayer at the mere mention of me.
More than 90% of people have this attitude.
The second group of people are those who simply do not know what they have been chosen for.
Most of these people are from the other world, so they don’t know how great it is that they have been chosen, so they are often dumbfounded.
But.
Kane is different from the others I’ve shown you so far, and even though he knows who I am, he doesn’t like it.
Not only that, but he ignores her messages on a daily basis and won’t even talk to her.
It’s like he doesn’t want me to pay attention.
Of course, that doesn’t mean he never replies. It’s just that most of the time, he just says it as if he doesn’t care.
And yesterday, he was definitely looking for my mum, wasn’t he?
For a transcendent being, there is no such thing as a parent. She has been in existence since the world was created.
“Your mother, Su*k It,” he whispered in a low voice looking up.
“He’s so funny.”
It’s the first time I’ve ever been sweared at.
Somehow, I want to test him. My gaze shifts to Kane on the screen.
He’s playing a prank on Kersey, who’s snoozing in his room.
I’ll give him a trial.
With those thoughts, she switched the screen from Kane to somewhere else. …
The next day.
A lot of good things happened during the day.
To start with the lighter side of things, I signed a contract with Karin’s potion shop.
The deal is simply that we can use the David family name.
In reality, being able to use the family name on the David estate is no different than being able to find your own customers.
She’s not only allowed to use the name, but I decided to tear her shop down to the ground to make it new.
Honestly, even if you borrow the David family name, it’s a little hard to walk into that building.
Yeah. Honestly.
Obviously, I know Karin’s potions are beyond the norm, but who wants to go into a shop that looks like a cockroach den?
I mean, I just had to go in there the other day, but it’s still a bit much.
While I’m thinking about it, Kersey yawns next to me, rubbing her sleepy eyes with her arm in her pajamas.
“Ha ha ha, master, why are you talking to yourself?”
“What? When did I?”
“You’ve been doing that since the beginning.”
“Really?”
Well, it doesn’t matter now anyway.
The first was actually planned, so I was just going to do it, but not the second.
The second is that Constellation finally stopped paying attention to me.
I don’t know why, but she finally stopped looking at me.
At first, I thought she was just trying to pull a fast one, so I didn’t say anything.
But then she didn’t send me a single message for hours.
Normally, she would have sent at least one every 10 minutes.
But just in case, I spat out all the swear words that I knew she’d hear.
Still, there was no response.
It was liberating.
I wondered if this is how animals in zoos feel when they escape?
It’s like being watched for 24 hours, and then it’s gone, and it’s a complete relief.
As I’m actually dancing, not inwardly but outwardly, I notice Kersey next to me, staring at me like a madman.
“Master, did you eat something wrong, what’s wrong with you since last night?”
“Nothing like that, mate. You don’t understand my mind.”
“I don’t know what it is, but after seeing the master’s strange dance, why bother. I don’t even dare to know.”
Normally, I’d give her a fist balm on the top of her head, but I’m in a good mood, so I’ll forgive her.
While we chatted for a while, Riche knocked on the door.
-Knock, knock, knock.
“It’s Riche. Master.”
“Yes. Come in.”
Hearing my words, Riche opened the door and walked in. She spoke in a cold voice.
“Master. The patriarch asked you to have a family meal this morning.”
“I see, but Riche, did something bad happen today?”
At my question, she shook her head with a cold expression.
She doesn’t say it, but I can tell from her expression that something is bothering her.
Is it that day?
All women have days when they are sensitive. Looking at her expression, even if I think it’s one of those days, her reaction is so cold that I don’t know what to say.
“Other than that, what else?”
She hesitated for a moment with her mouth agape, then slowly spoke with a determined expression.
“Master, your fiancé is coming to visit today.”
“Uh,uh?!”
Kane, this bastard had a fiancée?
W*F. This humanity glutton was an engaged man?
I’m shocked, really I am. I was shocked when I realized I was possessed by a game, but this is a different kind of shock.
Kane, how the h*ll does this guy have a fiancée?
I’ll admit that he’s handsome, but no matter how good he looks, what kind of woman would accept him if his personality is so bad?
If I were a woman, I’d avoid him at all costs.
As if I wasn’t the only one surprised, Kersey also woke up with a startled expression and muttered with a new seriousness.
“How on earth can you have a fiancée with your personality?”
“I’m not supposed to have a fiancé?”
For some reason, looking at Kersey, I feel annoyed and bring my fist to her temple, casting a dreaded fist spin.
“Ow!”
For some reason, Riche didn’t look happy.
Turns out it wasn’t just because it was that day; she has a crush on none other than Kane.
So naturally, she must be upset to hear that my fiancé is here.
Of course, it’s a master-servant relationship, so it’s almost impossible, but reason and heart are different.
Even if you know it in your head, you can’t help but feel awful.
“Okay. I’ll go eat then.”
“Okay.”
“Ah. Right. You’ll start Kersey training today.”
“What, what?! Master from today?”
She looked a little dumbfounded, as if she hadn’t realised she was going to be trained from today.
“Is that possible?”
“Yes, I’ll start right away:
Riche nodded without hesitation. At the same time, she grabbed her by the back of the neck, where she hid her ears and tail.
“Then, junior, shall we start training today?”
Riche looked at the face with her characteristic smiling mouth, but her eyes remained the same, and gulped dryly! I swallowed.
“Master, master. Help me, my instincts are warning me that I’m about to die!”
Apparently, there’s a setting where the Dog People have excellent instincts. Kersey is the princess of the Dog Race, so her instincts must be among the best. Therefore, that statement is not false.
As she begs for help, I say.
-Whoosh!
I looked at the distant mountains.
Then… let’s get ready to eat.
It wasn’t because she looked icy cold. I was just looking away because it was time to get ready.
Seeing this, Kersey looked like she was hopeless. Riche ignored her reaction and said it with a benevolent smile.
“Then, Master. We’ll leave now.”
“Ugh, yeah. Good luck. Kersey, work hard too!”
“Master,Master, I’m sorry for what I said earlier!”
In the end, Kersey was grabbed by Riche and dragged somewhere.
Kersey. I hope you don’t die.
…
With all my preparations complete, I found myself in the family’s private dining room.
No one was there yet, except for the chefs.
Is this a dining room, anyway?
Surely every restaurant I’ve ever been to has at least a speck of dust on it, no matter how clean it is, and the dining table reflects my face like a mirror.
How much did they polish it?
I run my fingers over it, just in case.
“……”
I’m at a loss for words.
Not only is there not a speck of dust, but somehow my hands feel clean.
How do clean like this?
!
“Uh,uh?! Brother?”
While I was dumbfounded for a moment. Someone responded in surprise with a sweet voice .
David Von Willi, with his short black hair and slightly large eyes, but with a slightly bossy look, was looking at me in astonishment.
Judging by his reaction, he couldn’t believe that I had arrived first, which made his already slightly large eyes widen even more.
As he stares wide-eyed, David von Mark, who looks like a schoolboy with neatly cut black hair, frowns from behind.
“Willie, why are you standing still here?”
“Mark. This isn’t the time, look over there.”
Hearing Willie’s words, he moved his gaze to where he was pointing.
Mark’s face hardened when he saw me.
And just like that, I saw my siblings for the first time since I was possessed.
