Chapter 634: The Evil Wasps Clan! The Unrelenting Overseer!
Of course, this was the very way of life for the Evil Wasps clan.
In the Evil Wasps clan, the weak must unconditionally serve the strong—even to the point of death!
This is the quintessential way of a Hellish race. Originally, the Thorn Cage Hell only contained the Dark Gnome clan, the Two-Tailed Thorn Scorpion clan, and the Demon Vines clan. But the Evil Wasps clan was a later arrival, a powerful race that had risen quickly.
Now, the number of Evil Wasps clan members and their strength had clearly outpaced the other three major clans.
If it weren't for the invasion of these strange creatures, perhaps in the not-so-distant future, this layer of Hell would have had only one ruler.
Much of this rise was due to the very nature of the Evil Wasps clan.
"Indeed, the strong remain strong and the weak remain weak. Only with this kind of determination can one reach the peak," Sterl nodded in satisfaction. Compared to the others, he appreciated the God of Evil Wasps's approach more.
This was not selfishness or cruelty—quite the opposite. This was the mark of someone thinking about the bigger picture, because she understood that as the God of Evil Wasps, as long as she was alive, the Evil Wasps clan would always exist. If she died, all that would remain was a swarm of insects that would eventually be wiped out.
As the Thorn Cage Hell's resistance grew weaker and weaker, it became increasingly difficult to hold back the surging tide of invaders.
At this point, the remaining life forms could no longer resist in any meaningful way. It had become a one-sided massacre!
Wherever the tide passed, whether it was ordinary creatures or legendary powerhouses, all were devoured without leaving a trace, dying silently and without struggle.
"Devils! They're the minions of the devils!"
"Run! Run! These monsters are undefeatable!"
"Get out of my way! Don't block me!"
Suddenly, even the most bloodthirsty and brutal of the Hellish races lost all will to fight. They collapsed, their spirits broken, and turned to flee in panic, running toward the rear.
Their weapons and attacks no longer faced the enemy; instead, they turned toward their own kin, hoping to use them as shields to delay their deaths and find a slim chance at survival.
Seeing this, the God of Evil Wasps's expression instantly turned cold as ice.
"You worthless trash! How dare you flee from the battlefield? If you disturb our Lord, I will turn you all into venomous sludge!"
She roared in fury, then surprisingly split off a shadowy avatar, as if it were forcibly birthed from her. While it was weaker than her true form, when combined with the sacrifice of numerous legendary Evil Wasps, it managed to delay the relentless assault of the Earth Wolf.
She herself swiftly appeared at the back of the formation, her gaze cold as she watched the fleeing soldiers. Her divine authority and Law Power immediately radiated outward.
"Move forward and you will die!"
For the invaders infused with the mysterious gray energy, the divine pressure had little effect.
But for the normal Hellish beings, the full force of a god's pressure was nothing short of apocalyptic. The terrifying aura made them tremble uncontrollably, and the soldiers at the front abruptly stopped in their tracks.
However, those in the rear, caught in the silver-white tidal wave of destruction, were too panicked to stop. They collided and trampled over those in front of them.
In an instant, the chaos of the collision and trampling resulted in over a thousand casualties.
"Turn around! Fight to the death! Any coward who tries to flee will be eradicated!" Goda said coldly, her eyes filled with intense threat as she looked down on the terrified and hesitant soldiers.
The creatures of the Legion of Hell, even at their strongest, were merely at the legendary level, not even demigods. Under the divine pressure, they struggled to control their own bodies.
With the God of Evil Wasps's threat looming, they were noticeably more composed, at least no one dared to flee in that moment.
Yet, the sound of millions of Silver Spiders charging from behind grew ever louder, and the agonized wails of other creatures being devoured became increasingly piercing. It stirred their already-panicked hearts, making them uneasy once again.
"Calm down! The Ruler will be restored soon! When our Lord fully recovers, it will be the end of these insects! Then, you will all be heroes and receive praise from the Ruler!"
Seeing the situation was deteriorating, the God of Evil Wasps spoke again. Her voice seemed to carry some kind of magic, constantly echoing in their minds, soothing their terrified hearts.
"Yes, she's quite the capable general!" Sterl said with a smile, watching the scene unfold. The God of Evil Wasps could undoubtedly be considered a talented commander. Given the nature of the Evil Wasps clan, she possessed remarkable leadership abilities.
With just a few words, she had managed to stabilize a collapsing army, reigniting their fighting spirit. This was no small feat, requiring substantial leadership skills.
And in his ranks, Sterl was lacking such a talent.
Moreover, the God of Evil Wasps was a god-level being. If properly utilized, she could become a tremendous asset to him.
But the next moment, the clone she had forcefully created was torn apart by the Earth Wolf.
With brute force, the Earth Wolf tore through the legendary Evil Wasps warriors blocking its path and quickly reached Goda, slashing at her with its sharp, deadly claws.
Goda, helpless, quickly activated her Law of Speed to dodge, engaging in a fierce back-and-forth battle with the Earth Wolf.
With the godly suppression lifted, the fragile calm that had been restored in the army shattered in an instant.
"Run! There's no hope left, we're doomed!"
"Hell is falling, even the gods won't survive this. Continuing to fight is pointless, it's just a death sentence!"
"Go ahead, fight if you want, but get out of my way! I need to leave this place!"
"I don't care anymore, I've only just achieved the legendary rank, I don't want to die!"
Countless voices of frustration and despair filled the air, pulling even those who had wavered into the retreating ranks.
Soon, the remaining three hundred thousand or so creatures began to flee for their lives, with millions of Silver Spiders hot on their heels, consuming everything in their path.
And their speed, how could it ever compare to that of the flying creatures above? Even the Silver Spiders on the ground were faster than most of the other creatures.
"Show no mercy!"
At this moment, the God of Evil Wasps, who was still fighting the Earth Wolf, roared.
Suddenly, countless flashes of blood erupted within the Legion of Hell.
At first glance, the Evil Wasps warriors, their eyes filled with cold resolve, were mercilessly hunting down the fleeing creatures around them.
The speed of the Evil Wasps was unparalleled in The Thorn Cage Hell, and their lethality was just as fearsome. Their tail spikes, lacking only the strange gray energy, were indistinguishable from those of the monstrous invaders.
In an instant, at least one hundred thousand Hellish creatures were killed by the Evil Wasps warriors.
"Fleeing enemies, show no mercy!"
"By the command of the gods, eradicate all deserters!"
The Evil Wasps warriors, like the most ruthless executioners, swiftly hunted down the surrounding creatures.
At that moment, everyone realized that the surviving Evil Wasps made up nearly half of the entire legion!
This was the true strength of the Evil Wasps clan—not only were their individual warriors incredibly powerful, but their numbers were also the largest in all of this layer of Hell.
Most crucially, the Evil Wasps warriors followed the God of Evil Wasps' commands unconditionally.
They had little emotion, and even when faced with the certainty of death, they showed no fear at all.
From the moment of their birth, the Evil Wasps had been bred to obey their god, with the principle of prioritizing the survival of their race deeply engraved into their very genes.
This trait was strikingly similar to the ants Sterl had previously mentioned as an example. In addition to ants, bees also fit into this category of hive-like, military creatures. The Evil Wasps clan, however, was many times more powerful than the weak bees—an entirely different level of existence altogether.
"A truly impressive legion..."
Sterl's eyes gleamed with interest as he watched the scene unfold. He greatly admired the nature of the Evil Wasps clan.
In his view, a soldier, a warrior, should be fearless and unstoppable, able to wield a sword even in the face of certain death!
While the armies of the Kingdom of Orichalcum and the Ashen Temple had certainly unleashed impressive forces when united, in his eyes, they were not true legions. They lacked cohesion, lacked spirit; they were simply a rabble.
To his surprise, he had found a truly exceptional race here in Hell.
Under the relentless assault of the Evil Wasps, the situation quickly stabilized.
They realized that running away would give them no hope of survival. Their only possible fate was to be annihilated by the Evil Wasps clan, whose speed far outmatched theirs.
Since escape was pointless, they chose instead to fight to the death—after all, they were already doomed, so why not go down fighting?
With that thought, every one of them let out a ferocious roar. Under the overwhelming pressure of death, they temporarily lost their fear of it.
At once, all the creatures turned and began to charge headlong into the Silver Spiders, willing to unleash all their strength and fight to the bitter end. They would die, but they would take something with them.
For a moment, the silver-white flood of Silver Spiders was momentarily slowed down, as the desperate hellish creatures fought for their lives. A significant number of Silver Spiders were crushed into dust under the brutal onslaught.
But in the face of absolute power, their struggle was in vain. No matter how hard they fought, it was all futile and laughable. There was no way to experience some sudden surge of power like in the novels, where one breaks through their limits and turns the tide of battle.
The strength of a life has its limits. No amount of screaming would awaken the small universe inside them to reverse everything—that's just a child's story. True combat was mercilessly brutal.
Soon, the remaining legions of The Thorn Cage Hell were being wiped out at a visible rate.
