Batman’s Son in Marvel

Chapter 41: Chapter 41: The Last Laboratory

Tony Stark never imagined there'd come a day when someone else would flaunt their wealth in front of him.

His father, Howard Stark, built Stark Industries during World War II, contributing to the development of the atomic bomb and establishing one of the wealthiest families in the world. On paper, Tony's assets were valued at over ten billion dollars, but his real net worth, including hidden holdings and technology, far exceeded that.

Still, Tony had clearly underestimated the Wayne family.

The Waynes had been rooted in Gotham City since the founding of the Bald Eagle Empire. After decades of growth, they amassed staggering wealth and power. Gotham itself, only slightly smaller than New York, had sixty percent of its industries controlled by Wayne Enterprises.

Facing Adam Wayne, the heir to such vast resources, Tony couldn't help but feel sour.

"Alright," Adam suddenly said, snapping Tony out of his thoughts. "We're ready to go in."

Tony had been distracted, but Adam had been closely monitoring the situation through Skynet.

The armored units Adam sent into the base, reinforced with ionization protection, were completely overwhelming the defenders. Skynet's control optimized their performance, and since there were no civilians to worry about, the armor operated at maximum capacity.

Despite the base's defenses, the Iron Legion tore through them with ease.

Tony blinked in disbelief. "That fast?"

Adam smirked. "What do you expect? I sent dozens of armors. I could conquer a small country with this setup. Blowing up a secret base is nothing."

While the armor's destructive power was impressive, Skynet's infiltration of the base's systems also played a critical role. Half of the defenses were disabled, forcing the enemy to rely on manual controls.

Ignoring Tony's awe, Adam got back to business.

"Here's the plan," Adam began. "The Iron Legion handles the rest. We go straight for the core lab and wipe out anyone in our way. I want to know who's behind this operation."

He glanced at Tony, who was already looking impatient.

Adam sighed. He didn't expect Tony Stark, the poster boy for recklessness, to stick to a plan.

As expected, Tony ignored the briefing and charged ahead without waiting.

"Damn it," Adam muttered, activating his boosters to catch up. "Why do these so-called superheroes never follow a plan?"

The two raced into the base, pushing past debris and shattered defenses. Inside, the labs were a mess of explosions and melted walls, courtesy of the Iron Legion.

Adam caught up with Tony in one of the labs, where the billionaire was staring at a screen.

"These people are monsters," Tony growled.

Adam turned to see what Tony was watching—a series of horrifying experiments conducted in the lab.

The footage showed men, women, and children injected with Extremis. Many exploded into flames, their bodies unable to handle the virus.

But the survivors had it worse. Those who didn't die were dissected alive, with their suffering documented in excruciating detail.

Adam clenched his fists, suppressing the anger bubbling inside him. Even for someone as jaded as him, this was too much.

Tony, on the other hand, snapped. He blasted the nearest petri dish with his repulsor, shattering it to pieces.

"These bastards don't deserve to live," Tony spat, his voice filled with rage. "We're not leaving anyone alive."

Adam nodded and followed Tony out of the lab.

The two advanced deeper into the base, killing anyone in their path without hesitation. Even those who begged for mercy were met with unflinching judgment.

Eventually, they reached the final door.

The entrance to the core lab was sealed behind what looked like a solid metal wall, with no visible seams.

A lone scientist stood trembling at a console, furiously pressing buttons. When he saw the armored figures burst in, he collapsed to his knees.

"Don't kill me!" the man pleaded. "I know the password to Lab Zero! I'm useful, I swear! I was forced into this!"

Adam and Tony exchanged glances.

For now, Adam lowered his arm cannon but kept it ready. "What's inside the lab?"

"The experimental subjects," the scientist stammered. "Dr. Sairuo, the head of the base, is in charge. I don't know anything else!"

Adam narrowed his eyes. "How do we open the door?"

The scientist practically tripped over his words. "The entrance is made of heat-resistant aerospace alloy—two meters thick. It's password-protected. I know the code! Just don't kill me!"

Adam glanced at the man skeptically.

"I'm checking his story," Tony interrupted, stepping forward and aiming the laser cutter on his gauntlet at the wall.

The red light traced along the metal, searching for weak points.

"Even if this guy's lying, I can cut through this thing eventually," Tony muttered. "But if he's telling the truth, it'll save us a lot of time."

Adam remained alert, keeping his weapons trained on the scientist while Tony worked.

"Skynet," Adam whispered into his comms, "keep monitoring the area. If anyone tries to detonate this base, shut it down."

As Tony continued cutting, Adam watched the trembling scientist carefully.

The man was sweating profusely, and his hands were shaking. But something about him didn't sit right with Adam.

If he was lying, Adam wouldn't hesitate to put him down.
