Chapter 276: The Perfect Guardian?
The materials vanished entirely as they were completely absorbed by Lucius' system. Not even a trace remained.
Luna whisted, folding her arms. "As always, it's insane how you devour all those materials like they were nothing, Master."
Loreia, standing beside her, frowned slightly. "Little brother, your ability is really amazing... but too expensive to maintain."
Lucius smirked. "The more expensive, the stronger the ability, right?"
Liora frowned, turning to Lucius. "Master, now that your energy is restored, can you finally handle this Spectral Knight?"
Lucius cracked his neck slightly before nodding. "Okay, okay. Give me a moment."
He turned his focus toward the spectral knight and smirked. "First, let's make it unable to move for an hour."

The Spectral Knight suddenly froze as if the very concept of time had been stripped away from it.
Liora blinked. "Wait... that's it?"
Lucius grinned, turning toward her. "Liora, you can release it now. It won't move anymore."
Liora immediately released it and the armor dropped to the ground like dead things.
Loreia cautiously waved her hand in front of it. "It's not doing anything."
Luna tilted her head, watching with amusement. "So, you basically froze time for it?"
Lucius nodded. "Something like that. It won't be bothering us for an hour."
Liora exhaled, shaking her head. "If you were going to do that, you should've just done it earlier."
Lucius smirked. "Where's the fun in that?"
Liora rolled her eyes but didn't argue.
Lucius then turned to the others. "For now, I want all of you to start cleaning up the mansion. Make sure it's suitable for us to use as a base."
Loreia raised her eyebrow. "You're making us clean?"
Luna smirked. "Oh, poor big sister. Didn't think we'd actually have to work, huh?"
Loreia shot her a glare. "Shut up, Luna."
Lucius chuckled. "As for me, I'll handle the Spectral Knight personally."
He flexed his fingers and smirked. "Now that I've got my energy back, let's see what happens when I truly take control."
Luna clapped her hands together. "This is going to be interesting."
With the Spectral Knight locked in time and the mansion slowly being secured as their new base, Lucius finally had some time to hack this new interesting beast.
---
Lucius was now left alone with Draemor, the spectral knight, the very beast that they had fought before.
This one wasn't just any normal spirit beast. It was actually the very manifestation of this mansion's will.
It was formed from raw mana, existing to only protect this mansion from outsiders.
The sheer density of mana in the mansion made it possible for such an entity to manifest and sustain itself.
Lucius soon smirked, as this beast was a perfect spirit beast. Too perfect indeed.
A beast that couldn't truly die. A creature designed to protect this structure at all costs.
Instead of destroying it, why not modify it? Why not make it the perfect guardian for his new home?
Lucius smirked as he got his face closer to it. "Alright then, let's tweak you a little."
He accessed his system, his mind already forming the perfect modifications.
The current Draemor was strong, but it lacked versatility. It was too focused on combat when it could be so much more.
Lucius grinned as he thought about its modification. "First, I want its abilities to reinforce the mansion itself."
"Strengthening walls, structures, and defenses to high-tier durability so my mansion is resistant to both physical and magical destruction."
"Next, I need it to be able to rebuild and expand the mansion's layout at will. No fixed structure. My base should be adaptable, changing whenever I want."
Lucius smirked. "An evolving stronghold."
He thought deeper. A single guardian wasn't enough so he just needed to add more of them.
"For extra hands, let's give it the ability to summon golems to assist in restoration—or maybe even serve as soldiers when necessary."
A self-repairing, self-expanding, and self-defending fortress, but he wasn't done yet.
Lucius's smirk widened. "Finally, for emergency situations... let's make the mansion itself fight back."
"Convert it into a semi-sentient defensive structure, allowing walls, doors, and statues to actively repel or attack intruders."
An ability to make his mansion into a fortress that fought like a beast. To transform it into a living citadel.
Lucius smirked as he had finalized all the modifications that he could think of.

Lucius smirked as he watched its new abilities that were perfectly aligned with his vision.
It had become a guardian that could rebuild the mansion and turn it to protect and fight as needed.
It was exactly what he wanted, but when he looked at the cost, he was so shocked.
He almost had a heart attack from the sheer cost. "Tch. That's really hurt."
Spending that many hack points in a single move was too wasteful even for him.
if he hadn't just absorbed a massive stockpile of resources, he would have been left completely drained.
Lucius sighed. "Good thing I had enough. If not... I might've actually cried from losing too many points."
He then rubbed his temple before shaking his head. "No use dwelling on it. The investment was a must and worth it."
