Chapter 122: A Terrifying Monster
"Alright, enough with the jokes for now, let's all go together"
Hearing Diluc's words as the fire elemental mana in the air keeps him afloat, the three looks at him wondering what does he mean by that, the curiosity in their eyes making the young man reveal a wry smile on his face as he starts showing them how he can achieve such result.
Waving his hand in the air, mana starts dancing all around once again, with the caster making sure that no one would notice the fact that he is directly influencing and controlling the mana in the air to bid his will, once again creating another magic circle, this one glowing a bright, crisp green seemingly dancing in the free air, making the young man's hair sway along with it, this happening making his friends figure out what sort of spell he is casting right now.
'Wind elemental spell… but what kind?' Looking at the magic circle floating just a little bit above one of Diluc's hands, Alea thought to herself as she attempts to figure out what sort of spell he is going to cast, the only thing she knows is the fact that this spell is something that will help them ascend to higher spires faster.
Meanwhile, looking at the gathering of the wind elemental mana around them getting denser and denser, the emperor-like young man finally nodded to himself, already satisfied with the amount of mana he managed to gather, looking at the three before he once again, controlled the mana completely to do his biddings, gathering underneath the three as it gradually forms into an invisible, yet tangible platform made completely of wind alone.
"What the hell is this!?" feeling the odd sensation beneath her as if she's no longer standing on the spire but rather on a completely smooth surface, the young elven duchess couldn't help but exclaim in confusion as she starts inspecting what she is standing on right now, making her all the more confused as she couldn't see a thing other than the spire beneath her.
"Don't move around too much, I can only do this for now, so you all still need to keep yourself from falling down on this platform" without explaining too much to them, Diluc then reminded as he starts flying higher in the air, all while maintaining the control of the wind platforms he created underneath the three, surprising them as the platform lifts them up in the air, following the direction where the emperor-like young man is flying to.
"I am… I am flying~~~ hahaha~~~ Alea~~ look at this~~~" feeling quite the disbelief as she floats in the air seemingly without anyone's assistance at all, Alfia reacted with enthusiasm as she marvels on the feeling of soaring in the air, albeit not too high in the skies, something in her making her feel joyful as if she regains a freedom that she never knew she was deprived of.
Meanwhile, looking at her with the same enthusiasm plastered on her mesmerizing face, Alea smiles and nods at her cousin as she starts enjoying this little experience of flying as well, feeling just the same, if not even more joy as the young elven duchess, only, her face is not showing that exaggerated of an expression compared to this cousin and closest friend of hers.
On the other hand, the frail-looking Michael, experiencing such kind of flying for the first time, couldn't help but have his eyes glow in excitement as well all while having his gaze directed to his roommate who made this experience possible to the three of them, his eyes as he looks towards him bearing something similar to idolizing him along with some other emotions, such gaze making the emperor-like young man feel shiver running down his spine.
'Don't notice it… just ignore that… he might just be feeling impressed with your work…' Diluc thought in his mind, clearly trying to convince himself that whatever it is that his roommate is thinking right now, it is definitely not something that he should be concerned with.
Shrugging his head off in order to remove such thoughts in his mind, the young man then decided to increase his speed in order to conserve himself some more energy, as even with the help of draconic magic along with his heightened affinity to mana, it still feels quite taxing in his mind to continue keeping a spell that needs to maintain not only its shape, but the stability of its structure as well.
Focusing on the climb, he found out that there are still quite the number of competitors who clearly wants him out of the match, those people being the ones that originally stood on the higher spires and succeeded in defending it from all the waves of other freshmen students trying to take their place away from them, these still confident people still thinking that they can fight and even win against the one titled as the first in their year, especially after fighting against all sorts of opponents before attempting to go to higher spires once again.
Add to that the fact that he appears to be currently using quite a lot of his mana in order to carry his friends along with him in the air, making his 'competitors' feel all the more positive that they can take this monster of an opponent they have and effectively eliminate him before he can even reach the next round of the competition.
Now looking at each other, these freshmen students who stood at the highest spires among all the others nod towards one another in acknowledgement, almost as if they no longer need to say anything else for their will to be conveyed to one another, all of them thinking of the same thing, eliminating the young man approaching them, and maybe even eliminate those two elven royalties in the process.
'Hehehe… your fault for being a commoner, Leonhart, if you were a noble like us, we would've easily given that first place spot to you' one of the people there, a young man possessing a crimson red, long unruly hair paired with blood ruby red eyes stood with a maniacal smile showing on his face as his body flexes hard in anticipation of the emperor-like young man approaching, the mana around him shivering in a mix of terror and excitement as if they are about to go to war.
'Oh my~~ I can't help but look forward to blasting such a handsome person with my magic~~~ mmm~~~ I can't wait~~~' on one other pillar, a young, enchanting beauty with the pink of a cherry blossom dying her hair thought to herself as her gaze focuses on the appearance of Diluc who is getting closer and closer to their location, her breathing becoming more and more ragged as time goes by seemingly completely aroused for whatever reason as she rubs both of her smooth long thighs on each other, her excitement completely different from the red-haired young man previously.
"Fucking arrogant bastard, you think you can just climb on these spires with me standing here!? I will teach you your place here, vermin!!!" while the two previous people were only thinking of things, this person doesn't even hesitate to shout at the top of his lungs as he proudly look down on the ascending Diluc and his group, his demeanor as if a god that overlooks the entirety of the heavens as he declares those words, the air around him being all the more serious as he draws out a sword from a scabbard decorated with detailed trimmings and embroidery, said sword being adorned with a coiling dragon that reaches almost all the way to its tip, making it appear quite majestic, if not impractical from a common point of view.
"That guy shouted like that again huh? Isn't he aware that that Diluc is a fucking monster? I can't believe that the leader of the first year's noble is someone like this…" watching the sword bearing young man shouting towards their approaching opponent, another person speaks, more to himself rather than towards anyone else, his unadorned body completely different from how the noble carries themselves revealing that he is of a different origin from them, the seriousness, along with the maturity on his face a clear show that he had gone through much more things than the others had experienced.
"Well, he's here to flaunt the authority of the nobles even within Principal Aria's domain, so it makes sense that he's like that, unlike us who just wants to enter that fabled Primaria Class…" another person spoke with a soft, feminine charm wafting along with her voice, prompting the seemingly annoyed young man to change his tone as he agrees with her words, nodding as he directs his attention towards their supposed competitor already in a dangerously close distance with them.
"What are your thoughts on him though, young miss of the barren lands?" watching the emperor-like young man settle his friends to safety in just a couple of seconds as his eyes comes in contact with them, the previously annoyed young man asked towards the soft-spoken lady who he was talking to just now, the lady merely revealing a modest, demure smile on her face as she replies.
"A monster, a terrifying one at that"
