Chapter 126: Messing Up
"Hey… isn't that…"
"No way he managed to dodge that so quickly, right?"
"Brother, you ask like you're not seeing what is happening right now…"
"Classmate, I believe there is something that we use to call people like him"
"Hoh? I wonder what that something is?"
"He's dumb"
Seeing the emperor-like young man calmly floating in the air as if the attack of the three young nobles didn't even bother him a single bit, the older students in the audience area couldn't help but talk about what just happened, some of them still reeling in disbelief as even though there is still some belief in their mind that there is a chance for the young man to escape that joint attack, there's just no way that he can come out of that completely scot-free, which appears to be the exact thing that happened, given his unperturbed appearance as he now looks down on the three young nobles.
"Is that all you got?"
Meanwhile, once again hearing the words from the voice they never expected to hear during the span of this competition for the Primaria Class, the three young nobles couldn't help but feel shiver running down their spine, something within the depth of their very selves screaming that they must get away from their current position as soon as they can, something primal urging them to stay as far away from Diluc as possible in order to increase their chance of survival.
As much as all of them wants to trust on their gut feel though, someone among them just refuses to acknowledge the gravity of the situation and the terror flooding his mind right now, opting to struggle standing straight as he stares maliciously towards the young man floating just a few feet above them, never expecting that there will be a day in his life where he would need to literally look up towards someone else, and to make the matter worse for him, to a commoner at that.
Seeing the dread looming upon the faces of his opponent as they figured out that he managed to come out without any scratch from what appears to be a really serious attack from them, Diluc smiles confidently as he scans the three of them once again, taking just a few looks before deciding who he should really eliminate and who he should only teach a lesson too.
"Hey, I'm asking you mister 'difference between us'" looking at the proud young noble who appears to bear such hatred on his eyes as he stares at him, Diluc couldn't help but wonder just what is it that he did that made this young man act like this towards him, hardly understanding why such person will hold such an intense emotion towards him when this is clearly the first time they had met each other.
Hearing the question of the young man he fully believed he could deal with ease whenever he wants, the proud young noble refuses to answer, wagering his life and pride on the line thinking that this young man couldn't humiliate him further than he is already doing right now, as even under the protection of the academy, he believes that his family won't just let anything further than this happen to him.
Seeing that this opponent of his clearly wouldn't reply to his question, Diluc then decided to switch from the previous defensive to the offensive, his mind already thinking of ways he could deal with these three without making their clan and families trouble him.
'It should only be enough for them to be hospitalized for a long time, no need to roast them until their skins burn' the emperor-like young man thought all too casually in his mind, not even realizing that such thoughts are something that usually won't surface on his mind these casual remarks from him making whoever is at the other end of the Dragon Herding System smile in satisfaction as it reminds him.
[Due to your talent going beyond the scope of people your age, more ancient spirits within this place are stimulated by your existence, some of them even giving you their respects, shouting words of acknowledgements and thinking of you as a person similar to them. Rewards for the temporary mission increases. Current ancient spirits who respect you is eighteen, continue to show inhumane level of feats in order to gather even more respect from them]
Reading the words that suddenly pops up in the corner of his eyes, Diluc starts smiling as he never expected that such a simple show of his speed would make those ancient spirits respect him even more, making him aware that it is not only the character that these old beings admire, but also the talent and actual strength of whoever it is that they are observing.
It wasn't the end of the surprise for him though as another floating gray screen appears on top of the previous one, rendering him stunned for a single moment as he read the words displayed on it, the disbelief almost escaping and revealing itself on his face had it not been for the high fortitude of his mind.
[In addition to this, due to your thoughts upon your enemy being more ruthless and befitting of someone who is ought to rule the Draconic Realm, a system reward will be granted]
[The temporary mission slot for the mission: Unbending Will, is now a permanent mission slot as well, however, the mission, Unbending Will, is still a time limited mission, and failure to finish this will result in the mission's deletion and replacement of a new mission]
Reading the new notification, Diluc starts feeling that he must have started receiving blessings from the goddess of luck once again after only that short span of misfortune he experiences during the start of the competition, the fact that he receives another mission slot, something that he considers as an extremely rare commodity of a reward from the Dragon Herding System just for a fleeting thought he has making him feel like a massive, delicious pie just falls down from the heavens with him being its sole recipient.
Hiding this feeling of elation though, he returns his focus towards the proud young noble still rooted on his previous spot, the things that just happened spanning nothing but a single moment despite the seemingly lengthy time it consumes, making the small changes and waves in the emperor-like young man's heart completely imperceivable in his opponents and the audience's eyes.
"If that is all that you can do, then I suggest you brace for impact then, oh great noble" getting the time to mock his opponent for implicitly always stating the fact that nobles are better and nobles this noble that, Diluc smiles as he raises one of his hands right in front of him, a fiery, crimson magic circle appearing just a few centimeters away from his raised hand as he do so, and seeming the magic circle makes the proud young noble feel all the more mocked by the young man in front of him.
"You think a mere fireball will hurt me like those weaklings you faced before!!??? Leonhart!! You fucking bastard!!! I'll make sure you'll regret pulling this shit on me!!!" seeing the spell gradually powering itself on his opponent's hand, the proud young noble starts cursing left and right, waving his sword as he starts moving himself once again due to anger, each swing releasing a torrential attack of pure lightning element moving to hurt the target he intended to eliminate before, the wrath on his face unbecoming of the proud noble he proclaims himself to be.
Seeing that the emperor-like young man doesn't have a single reaction to his words however, the young noble becomes even more agitated and angered, feeling like he of all people shouldn't be neglected by a person like this, making him blurt out words that will make him regret saying for the rest of his mortal life.
"HAHAHA!!! You dare ignore me!? Fucking fallen worm!! You think you can keep that high and mighty act of yours up for long!? Just like how my father taught your useless, dead and decaying parents a lesson, he will definitely make sure know your place as well!!!"
Proudly proclaiming such things and threatening the young man in front of him, it is not only the volatile principal who seems to favor the young man quite well, but also even the nobles from the audience area couldn't help but feel like the young noble had gone too far with his words, making them wonder just what Diluc is going to do to him now.
Few people decided to look at the young man earlier than others did, and due to them being early enough to see a fleeting emotion on his face, they couldn't help but tremble as they saw from his usually nonchalant and unfettered face, an expression that has a making of a great disaster that will roam the land, an expression that will be etched in their minds for all eternity to torment and submerged them in terror in their sleep.
"You shouldn't have talked to my old folks like that"
