Chapter 428: Another Side of Lin Ruoxue

After seeing Lin Ruoxue, the young shepherd abandoned his cows and sheep and excitedly ran towards Su Chen and her!

Su Chen was surprised to hear the shouts, while Lin Ruoxue had already eagerly approached:

"Tai Wei!"

Lin Ruoxue affectionately touched his cap:

"Little guy, did you just come back from herding?"

"Yes."

The boy nodded energetically and took her hand with excitement:

"Ms. Lin, come back to my house with me, the villagers will be thrilled to see you!"

Lin Ruoxue then walked towards the village with the boy and his cattle and sheep, seemingly having forgotten Su Chen, her husband...

Su Chen didn't say anything, a slight smile playing on his lips as he followed behind them.

Seeing Lin Ruoxue warmly interacting with the boy, Su Chen felt quite astonished. He hadn't expected her to have this side to her, a side of Lin Ruoxue he had never seen before in all this time.

She seemed less reserved and cold, and instead more free-spirited and passionate.

As they reached the village, the boy shouted:

"Ms. Lin is here!"

No sooner had the words left his mouth than almost all the people immediately emerged from their felt tents.

"Ms. Lin is here!"

"Ms. Lin, we've missed you so much!"

"Ms. Lin, come sit at my house!"

"Ms. Lin, you should visit my house first!"

.......

Upon seeing Lin Ruoxue, each and every villager had a look of excited joy, each extending sincere invitations to her.

Looking at those genuine smiling faces, Su Chen was overwhelmed, not having imagined Lin Ruoxue could be so well-acquainted with these people or so popular here.

"I'll go home first with Tai Wei to have a look, I've promised this little guy."

Lin Ruoxue said with a smile.

"Alright, alright, Ms. Lin is welcome to visit my home."

An elderly man, his face etched deeply by the years, instantly burst into a blossomed smile.

"Ms. Lin, who is this...?"

An old lady who had lived beyond her sixtieth year came forward, took hold of Lin Ruoxue's delicate hand, and pointed at Su Chen as she asked.

At that moment, the others also turned their gaze towards Su Chen; they had been so excited that they hadn't really noticed his presence.

"He's my husband,"

Lin Ruoxue said shyly in a low voice.

Upon hearing that this man was Lin Ruoxue's husband, the villagers were first a bit stunned, but then, they all came forward with great enthusiasm, inviting him to drink.

Even Su Chen, not usually one to be easily embarrassed, felt somewhat overwhelmed by their fervor.

However, what they expressed the most was the sentiment that he should treat Lin Ruoxue well, or else they wouldn't be so polite, to which Su Chen hurriedly proclaimed he wouldn't dare!

He could see that these people truly adored Lin Ruoxue!

After a while, Su Chen and Lin Ruoxue followed the old man and the boy towards one of the felt tents.

It was now evening, and with winter drawing near, it had almost grown dark; the inside of the felt tent was even darker.

Once they entered the tent, the old man hastily said:

"Don't stand in the dark; let me light the lamp."

The old man then struck a match and lit an oil lamp, bringing some light into the tent.

With the dim light, Lin Ruoxue saw another old lady lying on the bed; it seemed she was already asleep.

"Uncle, has Grandma Gu's leg not gotten any better?" Lin Ruoxue asked.

The old man shook his head, then laughed:

"But after taking the medicine you brought last time, it doesn't hurt anymore. We really have to thank you, Ms. Lin! She suffered much less because of you!"

"Grandpa, Ms. Lin, and this uncle, let's eat."

At that time, the young Tai Wei came in with a few cakes.

"Let's not talk about that for now, Miss Lin, and Mr. Su, you must be starving, hurry up and eat some cakes."

The elderly man motioned for the two to sit down at a small, low round table:

"We don't have much, please don't mind."

"Uncle, what are you talking about? I love eating the cakes from here."

Lin Ruoxue said with a smile.

"Yeah, Uncle, this is really nice."

Su Chen could tell that these cakes were the best food this family could offer, and they probably couldn't bear to eat them themselves usually.

But Su Chen didn't make a pretentious refusal, because that would make the old man feel even worse.

"Little guy, come and have some too."

Su Chen waved to the young boy who was busy on the side.

"You don't have to worry about him; he will eat later by himself."

The old man said somewhat awkwardly. There were only a few cakes in the house for the guests, and if they ate too, what would the guests have?

He himself had sat down only out of a need to accompany them, but he was eating slowly and chewing carefully. He planned to share his cake with his grandson and his wife after the guests had left.

"Why make such a fuss."

Su Chen stood up, pulled the youngster over, and handed him a cake:

"You're growing, eat a bit more."

Clutching the cake, the boy couldn't help but glance at his grandfather, a longing look flickering in his eyes.

"If Mr. Su tells you to eat, then eat," said the old man with a sigh.

Only after hearing his grandfather's words did the boy slowly tear off a small piece of the cake and stuff it into his mouth.

"Uncle, when we're done eating, I'll take a look at Grandma Gu. Maybe she can be cured."

While eating his cake, Su Chen said.

"Right, husband, how could I forget that you know medicine?"

Lin Ruoxue's eyes immediately sparkled with excitement:

"Uncle, there's hope for Grandma Gu's leg. My husband can cure any disease!"

"Really?"

The old man asked doubtfully, not quite convinced by the young man's appearance as someone who could cure ailments.

"Of course, do you know what title my husband has?"

Before the man could ask, Lin Ruoxue bragged, as if to sell her goods:

"Ghost Doctor, there is no person he can't cure, no disease he can't treat!"

Su Chen couldn't help but smile bitterly; Lin Ruoxue was exaggerating so much to make the old man believe that even he found it a bit cheesy!

"Well then, I'll trouble you in a bit."

The truth was, the old man remained skeptical. His wife's leg ailment had seen many people, could it really be cured?

"It's no trouble, we'll take a look in a bit," Su Chen replied with a light smile.

The boy didn't harbor the same doubts as the old man; hearing that Su Chen might cure his grandmother, he looked at him filled with hope.

Su Chen ate only one cake and then claimed he was full, and Lin Ruoxue ate just half, claiming she was on a diet.

"All right, I'll go take a look at Grandma now," Su Chen said as he stood up.

The old man immediately led him to the bedside and gently woke his wife.

Seeing a strange young man standing in front of her bed, the old lady couldn't help but show a puzzled expression.

"Wife, this is Mr. Su, Miss Lin's husband. He came with Miss Lin this time," the old man said with a smile, explaining.

"Miss Lin is here? Where is she?"

As soon as the old lady heard that Miss Lin had come, she struggled to sit up...
