Chapter 459 The So-Called Most Important Person
"Where are we going now?"
Su Chen asked as the car started moving.
"First to Jianghai Airport, I've urgently arranged for a plane. We'll fly directly to Australia, and then take a boat from there. This will be much faster,"
Qin Ming explained, having already arranged everything before coming to Su Chen. As soon as Su Chen agreed, everything would operate at the highest speed!
Su Chen, upon hearing this, didn't say anything but closed his eyes and pretended to sleep.
"How many countries are participating in the competition for the materials this time?"
After a while, Su Chen asked casually.
"Probably six or seven, definitely fewer than ten. Although many countries bought this information, I reckon that the smaller ones won't participate in the end. It will come down to a contest among the strongest nations,"
Qin Ming pondered before answering.
Su Chen nodded. Qin Ming's words made sense. Weaker states, even if they luckily obtained those precious materials, might not be able to take them with them.
Fundamentally, there is no difference between countries and individuals—it all comes down to power!
"Su Chen, I've also found some helpers for you. They are already waiting at the airport,"
Qin Ming said somewhat nervously.
Su Chen gave a light "hm," understanding Qin Ming's actions. After all, he was no longer a military man, and the higher-ups surely wanted to be kept in the loop at all times.
It wasn't a matter of trust but a matter of protocol.
Seeing that Su Chen didn't have any particular reaction, Qin Ming's heart slowly settled. After all, he hadn't obtained Su Chen's consent when choosing the helpers.
They drove straight on and soon arrived at Jianghai Airport, where Qin Ming led Su Chen through a special pathway.
Before long, a civilian aircraft appeared before Su Chen, and in front of the plane stood five men!
All men, each standing ramrod straight with an air of arrogance and an untouchable demeanor!
At this moment, their faces showed signs of impatience, for they had been waiting for nearly two hours!
As for whom they were waiting for, they were not yet clear; Qin Ming had only told them to wait for someone extremely important.
At first, they were quite expectant, for even the bureau chief had said this person was very important, so he must be quite the high-ranking figure!
But as time passed, their eagerness turned gradually into complaints.
They were aware of the urgency of their mission, and so was Bureau Chief Qin, who would have hurried back if he had managed to invite the person.
This person was being too rude! The bureau chief personally extended an invite, yet the response was so slow!
The lengthy absence of Bureau Chief Qin could only mean one thing: the invitation was not proceeding smoothly!
If Qin Ming did manage to bring this person, they were curious to see just who this big shot was who felt entitled to act this way!
Finally, as they waited anxiously, Qin Ming appeared through the special path and came into their line of sight!
The group excitedly approached Qin Ming as soon as they saw him!
However, their attention quickly shifted to Su Chen, who was standing beside Qin Ming; the men all showed a hint of confusion on their faces.
Bureau Chief Qin had specifically rushed to Jianghai to invite the so-called most important person; could it really be this guy?
"Bureau Chief Qin, where is the person you went to invite?"
One of them asked hesitantly.
"This gentleman here is him. Just call him Mr. Su,"
Qin Ming said with a smile to the others. Su Chen was the youngest there, so calling him "Brother Su" would be inappropriate.
But calling him directly by his name felt too casual, so after thinking it over, Qin Ming decided it was most appropriate to call him Mr. Su!
"Him?"
The five individuals' eyes bulged as they heard Qin Ming's words; was he seriously the so-called most important person that the director had taken such a long time to specifically invite? Enjoy new adventures from My Virtual Library Empire
They couldn't help but scrutinize Su Chen carefully, noting that he was just over twenty years old, still somewhat green, and notably thin. His clothes were also exceedingly ordinary!
From left to right they searched, but they could not discern what made this 'most important person' significant at all—he looked just like any other young man!
However, in the presence of Qin Ming, they dared not act rashly, and they called out "Mr. Su."
But their tone was unmistakably indifferent, even disdainful.
Qin Ming, on the other hand, said nothing; after all, they had plenty of time to get to know each other, and if he couldn't tame these few brats, he wouldn't deserve to bear the name Su Chen!
"Alright, no need to be so formal, everyone relax a bit,"
Su Chen wasn't too concerned about their attitude; he could tell at a glance that these people's realms were all Qi Refinement Seventh, Eighth, or Ninth Layer.
Moreover, none of them were very old, mostly in their thirties or forties. To have such cultivation at that age was quite impressive, no wonder they were arrogant.
Qin Ming thought to himself that if these whippersnappers knew that the person before them was at the Qi Refinement Peak Realm, he wondered if they would still be so dismissive!
What Qin Ming didn't know was that Qi Refinement Peak was merely Su Chen's realm when he served as the Chief Instructor of the Eighth Brigade.
In the years he had spent in the Dark World, he had already taken a step that most Qi Refinement Peak Martial Artists would never manage in their lifetimes—the half-step into Meridian Expansion!
He couldn't possibly imagine that later, after Su Chen's Dantian had shattered and his cultivation was lost, he started over from scratch and in less than a year, he had cultivated back up to the Qi Refinement Eighth Layer Realm!
And Su Chen's Qi Refinement Eighth Realm was different from other martial artists; his strength was only a hair's breadth from his peak state of half-step Meridian Expansion.
At least he was now very confident facing three or four Qi Refinement Peaks!
"Furthermore, Mr. Su will have full command of this mission!"
Qin Ming spoke up once more.
The few people were suddenly taken aback—this young upstart was to be their leader?
Had Director Qin made a mistake?
Undoubtedly, those heading out were the elite forces from various countries; they'd be lucky if this kid didn't hold them back, and yet he was to be their leader?!
"Did you all hear what I said?"
Qin Ming suddenly raised his volume, his face turning serious.
"Yes!"
The individuals trembled inwardly and quickly responded.
Although they were respectfully compliant with their words, in their hearts they still had little regard for the young man.
Qin Ming had no solution for this; it wasn't something a few words could fix. It had to be Su Chen himself who convinced them through his actions!
Before boarding the plane, Qin Ming pulled Su Chen aside and said:
"Su Chen, these guys are my treasures. You have to take good care of them and bring each one of them back without fail, please!"
"Don't worry."
Su Chen patted Qin Ming's shoulder, understanding how important these people were to him. He guessed that they probably were among the strongest in the Special Security Bureau, which was why Qin Ming was so concerned.
"Thank you."
Qin Ming revealed a knowing smile; he was familiar with Su Chen and was certain that since Su Chen had promised, he would do his utmost.
"Brother Guan, are we really going to take orders from this greenhorn?"
A young man asked the oldest person beside him from a short distance away.
"Let's wait and see,"
the one addressed as Brother Guan said, watching Su Chen's retreating figure.
