Becoming the Strongest as a Game Dev

Chapter 78: Chapter 78

Vinny Moretti sits in the dimly lit warehouse, surrounded by his armed goons. The air is thick with tension as he waits for the arrival of the Crimson Fist gang. A sudden commotion at the entrance announces their presence, and Vinny rises to greet them.

The leader of the Crimson Fist, a hulking figure in a crimson coat, strides in, his entourage fanning out behind him. Vinny extends a hand in greeting, a sly grin spreading across his face.

"Welcome, welcome. I'm glad you could make it." Vinny gestures towards a table laden with an array of weapons. "As promised, I have the goods for you to inspect."

The Crimson Fist leader nods and steps forward, his eyes scanning the impressive arsenal. Vinny picks up a sleek, black rifle, holding it out for the gang leader to examine.

"This beauty is our latest model, with a range of up to 500 meters and a rapid-fire capability that'll tear through anything in its path." Vinny hands the rifle to the gang leader, who tests its weight and balance.

"Impressive," the Crimson Fist leader mutters, handing the rifle back to one of his men. He moves on to the next item, a towering rocket launcher. "And what about this?"

Vinny's grin widens as he picks up the launcher, its metallic surface gleaming in the dim light. "This baby can level a city block with a single shot. Armor-piercing rounds that'll punch through even the thickest hide."

The gang leader nods, his expression thoughtful as he considers the firepower on display. Vinny continues his sales pitch, showcasing a pair of intricately crafted pistols, a crate of high-explosive bombs, and a selection of mystical items that crackle with arcane energy.

As Vinny describes each weapon, the Crimson Fist gang members listen intently, their eyes filled with a mixture of greed and anticipation. The leader appears satisfied with the selection, his gaze sweeping across the impressive arsenal.

"Well, Vinny, I must say you've outdone yourself this time." The Crimson Fist leader reaches into his coat, pulling out a thick envelope. "The agreed-upon sum, as promised."

Vinny accepts the envelope, his fingers caressing the crisp bills within. "Pleasure doing business with you, my friend." He pauses, his expression darkening. "Though I must say, I've been hearing some... unsettling rumors about your activities."

The gang leader's eyes narrow, a subtle shift in the atmosphere as the tension escalates. "Rumors, you say? I'm not sure I like the implication, Vinny."

Vinny raises a hand, his tone placating. "Now, now, let's not get ahead of ourselves. I'm simply a concerned business partner, that's all. I'd hate to see our arrangement jeopardized by... unsavory activities."

The Crimson Fist leader regards Vinny for a moment, his expression unreadable. Then, a slow, predatory smile spreads across his face.

"I appreciate your concern, Vinny. But you needn't worry your pretty little head about it." He turns to his men, issuing a curt order. "Load up the weapons. We're done here."

A bullet was shot at one of the explosive crates, which caused a massive explosion. Vinny's gang and the Crimson Fist were knocked to the floor, stunned by the unexpected blast. The Crimson Fist leader's eyes narrowed as he glared at Vinny, suspicion etched across his face.

"You set us up, didn't you, Vinny?" the gang leader growled, struggling to his feet.

Vinny raised his hands defensively. "No, no, I swear I had nothing to do with this!" Before he could say more, the sound of gunfire erupted from the entrance, and both groups found themselves under attack from an unknown assailant.

Vinny's gang and the Crimson Fist return fire, trying to find the shooter. Bullets ricochet off the walls as the two groups exchange a flurry of shots. Vinny's eyes scan the chaos, searching for the source of the unexpected attack. Suddenly, he spots a figure perched on a catwalk, twin pistols blazing.

"There!" Vinny shouts, pointing up at Aria. "The enemy is up there!"

Vinny's gang and the Crimson Fist unleash a barrage of bullets towards the figure on the catwalk. Aria deftly evades the hail of gunfire, her cybernetic arm extending a sleek metal disk that lands in the middle of the warring factions. As the disk touches the ground, a glowing magic symbol appears, originating from its surface. Suddenly, a powerful shockwave radiates outward, pushing both Vinny's gang and the Crimson Fist back with tremendous force. The men are knocked off their feet, their weapons clattering to the floor as they struggle to regain their footing.

Aria advances, her twin pistols blazing as she takes down more of the gang members with precise shots. A Crimson Fist goon manages to take aim at her, but a reactive shield covers her body, deflecting the bullet harmlessly. Vinny's eyes widen as he watches Aria systematically dismantle his and the Crimson Fist's forces. Realizing the tide has turned against them, Vinny barks an order to his remaining men, and they hastily retreat, escorting their boss to safety as the sound of Aria's gunfire echoes through the warehouse.

Aria watches as Vinny and his remaining men hastily retreat, escaping through the warehouse exit. Without hesitation, she leaps down from the catwalk, her eyes locked on the fleeing figure of Vinny. Sprinting towards the exit, she spots a sleek motorbike nearby. Swiftly mounting the bike, Aria revs the engine and takes off in pursuit, determined not to let her target slip away.

Vinny's car speeds down the dark alleyway, weaving through the city traffic. In the rearview mirror, Vinny catches a glimpse of Aria on the motorbike.

His eyes widen as he sees Aria gaining on his car. "Take her out!" he shouts to his remaining henchmen.

The gang members lean out of the car, opening fire on Aria's approaching motorcycle. Aria weaves skillfully, the bullets whizzing past her as she draws closer. With a burst of speed, she pulls alongside the car, her cybernetic arm reaching out to grab one of the gang members. In a swift motion, she yanks him from the vehicle, sending him tumbling to the ground.

Aria then extends her arm, releasing a glowing metal disk that attaches to the underside of Vinny's car. A magical symbol flares to life, and suddenly the car's gravity increases dramatically. The vehicle lurches to a halt, the sudden deceleration throwing Vinny and his driver against the seats.

Aria pulls her motorcycle alongside the now-immobilized car.

Aria shoots at the remaining gang members, her pistols barking with deadly precision. One by one, the henchmen fall, their bodies crumpling to the ground. With a swift motion, she yanks Vinny out of the car, his eyes wide with fear.

"Please, please, I'll give you anything!" Vinny pleads, his voice trembling. "Who sent you? Was it that bastard Gambino? I'll double whatever they offered!"

Aria's expression remains cold and unrelenting as she levels her gun at Vinny's forehead. Without a word, she squeezes the trigger, and the shot echoes through the alleyway.

Vinny's body slumped dead to the floor, and Aria walks away and ends the simulation. The virtual world around her fades, replaced by the familiar white expanse of the Simulation Space. Aria's expression remains impassive as she turns and departs, her mission complete.
