Chapter 113: 113: Aboard the Ryuusen (Part 3)
Haruki was genuinely surprised to learn that he had unknowingly become the dream lover of many girls in the Imperial Capital. He looked at Lina with a touch of disbelief.
"Oh? Is that so? That's quite unexpected."
The two continued chatting while dancing gracefully to the music, performing elegant steps befitting nobility.
They were both stunning, and their movements were fluid and refined—flawless, even. Their performance quickly drew the attention of the crowd, with many stopping their own dancing just to admire them.
Nearby, Gin, Yuki, Chelsea, and Sayo watched quietly. They didn't comment on Haruki dancing with another girl, keeping their eyes on him and Lina, simply appreciating their graceful performance. Since none of them knew how to dance, they didn't join in.
To Gin, Chelsea, and Sayo, Haruki was everything. Though he always treated them well, they understood that this didn't give them the right to be possessive or jealous. If it was something Haruki wanted to do, they would never try to stop him.
As for Yuki, Haruki was her master—she would never question anything he did.
"Hey there, beautiful ladies. That man just left you all behind to chase after another woman. Don't you have anything to say about that?"
Just then, a clueless man approached the four women.
Maybe his elders hadn't explained Haruki's status or what he had done in the past, or maybe jealousy and desire clouded his judgment. Whatever the reason, this decently handsome guy snuck up to the women while everyone else was distracted by Haruki and Lina, speaking in a low voice, thinking Haruki wouldn't hear.
"What exactly are you trying to say?"
The moment he opened his mouth, the women's expressions turned icy.
"Let me introduce myself. My name is **—just a humble extra. My father is a * in the Empire. Now, don't be angry, ladies, just hear me out. That man is out there flirting with other women right in front of you! Doesn't that make you mad? If he's heartless, then you don't owe him anything either! Why not find someone better—like me?...
Ugh—hey! What are you doing?! Let me go! My father is ***!"
The guy thought the women's darkening expressions meant his words were getting through, so he pressed on, trying to drive a wedge between them and Haruki, even trying to pitch himself as a better option. But he didn't notice how their expressions had gone from annoyed to downright murderous.
Before he could continue, Yuki snapped. She grabbed him by the neck and lifted him clean off the ground.
"I don't care who your father is. If you dare speak ill of my master, you deserve to die."
As she spoke, her grip tightened. Yuki's true form was an Ice Phoenix that had surpassed the Super-Class Danger Beast threshold. In her agitation, a trace of her aura leaked out. Though she quickly retracted it, those nearby felt the temperature plummet instantly.
"Please, madam! I beg you to spare my son! It's my fault for not teaching him properly!"
The sudden chill in the air, along with the man's groaning as Yuki held him aloft, drew everyone's attention. Haruki and Lina turned to look as well.
Lina looked on with curiosity, but Haruki remained calm, as if he'd expected it.
"Ah, ***, how did you end up over here? Lord Haruki, I beg you—please show mercy to the prince. If he has offended you, I'll offer my sincerest apologies right here. He's my only son!"
An older man burst through the crowd, rushing to Haruki's side in a panic. Judging from ***'s condition, it looked like he might die at any second. Knowing that Yuki and the others were with Haruki, the man pleaded with him.
"Please, show mercy!"
"Hmph. Not a chance. He insulted my master—he must die."
Before Haruki could respond, Yuki answered coldly.
As soon as she finished speaking, a freezing chill began to emanate from her hand. Under everyone's stunned gaze, ice spread from ***'s neck, quickly encasing his entire body. In the blink of an eye, he was frozen solid, like a life-sized ice sculpture.
Crack—Crash!
Yuki let go. The frozen body hit the ground and shattered into countless shards, mixed with pieces of flesh. Yet, not a single drop of blood spilled. The scene was as terrifying as it was unforgettable.
The onlookers were struck speechless. Only now did they realize that not only was Haruki someone they couldn't afford to offend—so were the women by his side.
"My son… my son! Lord Haruki, why?! Why did this happen?! That woman must give me an explanation!"
After a long silence, the older man finally came to his senses, eyes red as he shouted at Haruki.
"There's no 'why.' Yuki's answer is mine. Anyone who lays a hand—or even a thought—on those close to me ends up the same way."
Seeing the man's reaction, Haruki frowned slightly. Though Yuki's actions had surprised him, he said nothing. She was protecting him—how could he blame her for that?
"You…"
The man couldn't argue. He knew there was nothing he could do to Haruki. All he could do was glare at him and Yuki in fury.
Just then, a sharp flute sound echoed through the room. At its piercing tone, everyone—except Haruki and the four girls, including Gin—instantly went limp and collapsed where they stood...
