Benevolent Demon

Chapter 24: Chapter 24: Valley Of The Great Trees

Over To The Demon Empire

The King laid back on his throne with one of his hands supporting his chin with a furious expression. He watched a unique demon on a large projector screen, Tracking his every movement…

Or, he hoped.

"Tsk, why is this one particular demon so hard to control! I had no problem watching any other demons, so why now!" Lucifer roars in anger as he smashes the arm support next to him.

"LINDA!"

[Flap-Flop]

A small demon flies into the King's throne room, the massive double doors belonging to the throne room open magically.

She struggles to fly in the air with her small demonic wings, as she tries to land, she falls down onto her face, her clipboard skids across the throne room floors, she whimpers and lifts her head in embarrassment.

"Pitiful, sigh, What are the statistics on this demon, whom I keep losing track of?" He sits up but still leaned back on his throne, he crosses his arms and raises a brow at his little assistant.

She stands up and picks up her clipboard and starts reading with a fearful stutter.

"Mah, Lord. There is umm.."

"Speak up!"

She gasps and takes a quick breath.

"There is no, umm. Results…" She said as she frowned and bowed her head.

Lucifer widened his brow in awe. Standing up in rage, showing his mighty figure as well his wings spread out.

"WHAT IS THE MEANING OF THIS!" He walked heavily towards Linda and picked her up by the throat, staring violently at her small pitiful eyes as tears welled up in her eyes.

"Sir… I-I can't brea…."

Lucifer drops Linda onto the hard marble flooring, causing bruises to easily mark her fragile body.

Her weak body bruised from crashing on the marble floor made her small knees and palms turn blood red as blood pours out slightly.

She wanted to cry out in agony but she didn't do it for the fear of her life. Instead, she stood up and bowed her head and replied. "My lord, the only results I could get back is that due to his magical aura. He is most likely a demon of nobility. Nothing else showed up, besides his strange legs during his birth and the village he grew up in. We couldn't gather any more information after the destruction of one of our village being brought down by the Holy Church. Sir."

Lucifer looked at her with disgust with his demonic eyes and pointed at the exit.

"Leave, and get someone to clean up this mess you made." He spoke in disgust as he spat onto the floor.

She flew away without saying anything else, as she flew, little drops of blood continued to drop to the floor.

Lucifer leaned back on his throne and sighed heavily as he supported his chin with his right hand.

"Ahhh… Ahhh… Chooo…. Who's talking about me?" Sirus' eyes turned slightly reder besides his already radiating red eyes. He felt a bit dizzy from the sneeze but it shortly went away at a moment's notice.

"This bone knife is looking good now, but I can't just use it like this, my hand will sweat and I will lose grip." He stopped for a moment with a dumbfounded look as he glanced at the bone knife. "And I forgot that I'm not human anymore with their pitiful useless bodies. The demonic body is better in every single way." He looked at his palm before continuing. "My hands have 10 times better grip than a Human's do, unlike their palms where the texture is flat and smooth easily making sweat form on their hands, demons don't sweat which is a relief, my palm is hard and has little bumps on it, making it ideal to hold anything and still not let it slip out of my hand."

Sirus continues walking alongside the river as he slowly approaches his once humble village. The thick dense trees slowly start clearing out of the way, Sirus clenches his fist as he approaches the barren ash field. He stops in his tracks and with a faceless expression he continues walking again towards his village, no, this is no village no more, this was just an ashen charged field. He looks to his right where his father used to work in the fields and he looks up ahead and is slightly surprised that the Great Tree was unscathed. Still blowing in the wind beautifully as it always did, as the huge branches sway side to side.

Sirus smiles gently as he walks and stares up at the Great Tree, suddenly he gets pushed by the wind as if it's almost leading him somewhere. Sirus tried to see if he could stop or move in any other direction but the wind just blew harder so Sirus just decided to follow the wind, he was greatly surprised at this strange experience. Shortly after he arrived at a row of trees where he saw several charged bodies attached to the trees, he widened his eyes for a moment but looked down and frowned.

"D-don't tell me my parents are… Dead…" He glances up and walks towards two trees where one of the charged figures looks as if it's trying to reach the person next to it.

It was a horrifying experience to behold as he approached the unfortunate victims, he held out his right hand as placed his palm on the person's face was attempting to reach.

"M-Mother?" He whispered as tears welled up, he hugged the charred body as he continued to weep. 2 minutes pass by, he takes a step back.

"I'm sorry I couldn't be there to save you, mother and father. You treated me with utmost care and love, you gave me a home and food. Even if we lived in a poor humble village, it's much better than living in a luxurious place where no one cares. I will always remember and love you two from the bottom of my heart." He paused for a moment, in silence as he bowed his head and closed his eyes. A sudden breeze blew gently on his face, wiping off the tears forming on his face.

He looked behind him seeing the ruined houses burnt to nothing but charred ash, leaving few remains of the once humble village. He could still smell the toxic air, but it didn't affect his superior body compared to the fragile human body. He gently and softly placed them beside each other in front of the Great Tree.

"I should try to find all the villagers' bodies within the burnt village, It's the least thing I can do for them. The village was vast but I'm not sure how many villagers actually lived in the village. I wouldn't be surprised if there were at least a maximum of 2 thousand villagers living here. Even still, I want to do this for them. But I don't want it to be a simple graveyard." He said as he faced the Great Tree and stared at the tree swaying side to side beautifully.

He smiled again and walked up to the tree and placed his hand beside where he wrote his name. "I will bury the bodies beside the tree and plant the seeds from the Great Tree and make them become trees. I'm sure they will become strong beautiful trees and watch over this land. I will visit whenever I can, promise." He faced the village with a sad but happy smile.

"Time to get to work."
