Chapter 1: Chapter 1 : Barkha
*** I'd like to remind you that this story is an alternate reality where certain laws change, this is not the main reality of Berserk because in no way do I wish to distort the work of Kentaro Miura (RIP my GOAT). There will also be some changes in the apostles, nothing that will change their nature.***
Who would have believed that despite all the mysteries of causality, such a thing is possible ? A fact that made no sense as much for the Godhands as their apostles had reached their knowledge, the most powerful apostle who is the Emperor Ganishka had fertilized a woman.
As normal, the new nature of the apostles which was supernatural made them incompatible to humans for reproduction, Ganishka himself had no desire for an heir and had no idea what was going on in the Uterus of the Bakiraka slave with whom he had slept.
Rakasha the slave was a very beautiful assassin who had attracted the desire of the Apostle Emperor for a single night before returning her as a useless object. Was this woman indignant at her treatment ? No, she was a slave and had been paid for her service, only the money counted for her.
Rakasha even within his clan was recognized not only to be strong but above all to be of frightening greed, a trait of her which will be exacerbated in her child.
The woman ended up knowing that she was pregnant and she wanted to abort this pregnancy because a rumor she wore a child of the emperor would have them killed by Ganishka himself.
She tried to swallow all the possible substances to stop this pregnancy but it was an impossible mission, the child in training in her belly didn't want to die.
Rakasha seeing that the situation was too strange consulted a witch who told her that the child would be a particular but cursed being who will live between two worlds, a unique and strong being who could help their clan if things were Well done but that she will die if she still tries to kill him in her belly.
After listening to this, Rakasha didn't change her mind because she had no desire to have a child. The woman was young, beautiful and wanted to take any risks. She had no guarantee that what the witch had said was true and even said to herself that this prediction was a scam.
Once again, she had tried to abort but without success and that is how she decided to abandon this idea to certainly abandon this unwanted child after his birth or even kill him . Months passed and pregnancy progressed but took a lot of strength to Rakasha, it was clear to everyone that it was not a normal pregnancy and Rakasha had lost a lot of weight .
The day of childbirth had arrived and The complications were so terrible that Rakasha died without even getting the child.
She died before she could give birth and Clan Healers had to open her belly to extract the child who was a healthy boy and with golden eyes .
The boy began to breathe on himself and unlike the normal newborn, he didn't cry and just looked at the people who held him in silence, it was a bad omen normally in the clan but the Clan leader who was in fact Rakasha's brother decided to take charge of the boy and called him Barkha who meant "Life Giving" in Kushan, a mixed name even if it was more popular among women.
Barkha grew up in the clan and he was noticed very early for a specific reason, he was a genius in absolutely all areas. Long before knowing how to walk he could already firmly hold a dagger in his small hand and the clan arts were taught to him very early.
The boy was a prodigy with incredible physical faculties for a child and a terrifying understanding capacity, he could reproduce movements or techniques after having seen them once.
However, despite all these qualities and even if he was a prodigy, the child had the bad glance of the clan over him more and more over the years for a reason, he attracted bad spirits and strange phenomena took place around of him as soon as he was 11 years old.
In fact, young children could see impossible things for the older ones, a faculty they lost by growing up but Barkha kept this aptitude, he could see the tormented minds in search of anchor to stay in this world And at 11, Barkha was noticed by them for a reason he was unaware.
If he was frightened by them ? No, he saw these kinds of things since he was a child and started to face them from his 11th birthday when he was attacked by them, they only appeared at night so it brought him complications the day between his sleep and training.
This problem, he discussed it with his uncle the chief of the clan but he wanted to know nothing. Barkha began to participate in the assassination missions given to the now nomadic clan and its prowess were not small.
He had been trained in the handling of weapons of all kinds and the art of the tapasa combat which made their own bodies weapons. The tapasa were certainly the most formidable warriors of the clan with incredibly powerful hand -to -hand techniques and footworks that allowed them to move with great agility and terrifying speed despite their extremely muscular bodies .
Even if Barkha was not yet at the level of his teachers, they knew that it was only a question of a few years for him to outclass them. Unfortunately for the clan, they ended up seeing the phenomena around Barkha in a tragic night when children of the clan and animals had been possessed by bad spirits who distorted their appearance and were killed.
Being afraid for the future of his clan and especially for his son Silat because of Barkha who was in fact a poisoned gift in the end, the chief of the clan had banished him and formally prohibited him from returning among them.
He gave him something to survive for some time by himself and Barkha was intelligent enough to understand their fear, he himself knew that he was dangerous for the people around him.
From his 11 years, Barkha began to fend for himself to survive . He became a thief because he had inherited the greed of his mother then started a mercenary and assassination life to earn more money.
One evening as he sat by the fire in his camp, a strange rider wearing a skeletal armor with a frightening aura appeared to him in the mist.
Barkha was used to strange spirits and phénoménal but he instinctively knew that the knight was extremely strong, he remained calm when he wanted to know what he wanted as he held his dagger tightly in his hand .
"The child who lives in both worlds and the anomaly that escapes causality, your gifts are the ultimate in what the greatest of humans would be capable but you have no respite in darkness. May this grant you peace in darkness and that our paths can cross again, you certainly have a role to play in collapse and reconstruction... " The Skull Knight said before launching a ring with a strange motif to Barkha who seized it without saying anything, he wanted to ask something but the knight had already disappeared.
He looked at the strange jewel and as if they were waiting for the departure of the rider, the bad spirits began to arise shadows. Barkha watched them emerged and with a sigh, he prepared for combat but his surprise, they ignored him now and kept their distance from him.
Farfful, Barkha understood that it was an effect of this ring and with a big smile, he brought it to his middle finger with great satisfaction. As of this evening, Barkha was able to start sleeping quietly like a normal person despite the presence of spirits around him.
At the beginning of his 14 years after a small battle to attack a castle when he had been hired in a solo mercenary, Barkha was approached by someone, an adult armor man who had noticed him during the battle.
The boy wasn't wearing any armor but didn't seem to have the slightest scratch after this Battle, He clearly had good physical growth even if his face betrayed his youth.
Darius who was this man had his glance on Barkha sometimes during the battle and he had been greatly impressed by his skills.
Barkha during the battle fought with an incredible calm and dexterity, he didn't seem to do great things and did not kill dozens of men or a commander to get noticed but his attitude on the spot Battle for those who had good eyes was remarkable.
They fought in the same camp but even an experienced warrior couldn't come out of a completely unscathed scrum but Barkha had done so. For the little he saw of the boy, Barkha didn't move exceptionally quickly but always moved at the right time to avoid a blow and strike to kill in one hit while making the slightest effort but the most terrifying is that he had an annoyed expression on his face while he killed.
"It was a good battle, kid" Darius said to Barkha approaching him while the latter counted the coins of his bonus. He looked at Darius and immediately put his purse away while Darius reassured him that he did not want to steal it.
Barkha: What do you want?
"I noticed you during the battle, you are of great talent and you managed to get out unscathed for a boy of your age. I'm really impressed… "Darius told him with a smile.
"Oh, thank you. It was rather simple as a battle but I recognize you, you led the small troop that attacked on the left side" Barkha responded with an impassive air.
Darius: It's correct kid, you have good eyes. I belong to the Gambino band, we are a group of mercenaries and I wondered if you would agree to join us. Before you refuse, I invite you to think about it because being a solo has its perks but the groups are more likely than the solo in addition to guaranteed salary and even bonuses. You must have noticed that solos are less and less likely to be recruited by the lords, right ?
"Yep, (Sighs) I'm going to join you but I'd have my conditions to chat with your leader." Barkha said nonchalantly, surprising Darius, accepting so quickly. It seemed that the boy was not very complicated and understood the overall situations.
Barkha followed him to Gambino's camp where his men held their wounds, they watched Darius come with Barkha who was cautious about their eyes questioned.
He was Kushan, a foreigner but even if it was rare to see, it was nothing exceptional because some were installed in the surrounding kingdoms.
"What do you bring to us here, Darius?" Gambino asked seated while A little boy with brown hair brought him hot water and bandages.
Barkha looked at the boy younger than him for a few seconds without any particular interest before watching Gambino.
Darius: A new recruit, I saw this kid fighting in the fray and he got out of it without any scratch. He was untouchable and I think he would make a great recruit.
"Was this kid Kushan in the fray ?"
"I didn't even notice it ..."
"BULLSHIT"
The men started their criticism and all the others were intrigued by that, a guys from a corner of a tent with a few bandages on him watched the scene as well.
Gambino: Shut up, morons. (at Barkha) Brat, Is what this idiot says true ? I can recruit you but you're going to have to show us what you're worth , it is the word of my second in command that is at stake. I propose a duel...
"I accept but I am only interested in Deathmatch and to spice it all up, we will increase the issues. If I lose, I die and my purse is yours but if I win I'd have double the normal pay as well as everything that belongs to my opponent.
If I die you earn my money, if I win you lose a trash soldier while still winning a much stronger fighter , in the end in both cases you are a winner. What do you say ?" Barkha asked by taking out his full purse with slightly smiling.
"Kid, why put your life at stake ? It's just a duel to see your skills so why want to go so far ?" Darius asked him when Barkha watched him with nonchalance.
Barkha: For money, it's as simple as that. If your leader accepts and I win then I'd have normal salary twice, that makes more money for me. It's simple, right?
"For money ?"
"This kid is crazy, rahahahah"
"He's right, we all do this as mercenaries, it's the basis of our job."
Gambino: Rahahah, I like this kid. Well , I accept because as you said, I earn something in both cases. (to his men) who wants to send this kid to heaven, he'll have half of his purse .
Everyone has designated themselves and one of them was chosen, a man of medium size with a simple sword who faced Barkha armed with a dagger. Gambino wanted to give a sword to the boy but Barkha told him that his weapon suited him.
The others began to make fun and tell him that he was going to die, Gambino pointed out the start of the duel and Barkha walked quietly to his smiling opponent who agitated his sword for decapitated Barkha who without effort dodged the attack and with an extremely fast blow, Barkha immediately counter-attacked by cutting off his opponent's throat.
The crowd at the start noisy immediately became silent when in their eyes, the man's neck wounded and his head fell backwards being attached to the body by a little skin and muscles because the cut which seemed so fast and light had been deep enough with enough strength to clearly cut the neck bones.
Blood came out abundantly from the neck of the man who died while Gambino has definitely got up from his seat, which had just happened had shocked them all.
"Well, where's his tent ? I think it belongs to me now ... " Barkha said while cleaning his dagger with the clothing of the dead opponent.
