Chapter 31: Chapter 31: Morning Workout
Once again, William was woken up early by Diana Rigg after another workout session.
William opened his eyes to see Diana, already dressed, sitting on a chair putting on makeup. She turned to him and said, "Dear, I have to go. I'm almost late. If I don't show up today, my boss will kill me."
William placed his hands on Diana's shoulders, smiling seriously, "We haven't done our morning workout yet. You can't skip exercising. I need to supervise you and see how effective your training has been these past few days."
"William Devonshire, you beast! Aren't you tired? God, I'm going to be so late, and I don't even know how badly I'll be scolded," Diana exclaimed, glancing at her watch in despair.
"Haha, that's an easy fix. Diana, come and see this," William said, pulling out the MP3 player he had made. "Later, I'll let you take close-up shots of it however you want. When you get back to the station, your boss won't just not scold you; he might even be begging you. You'll be the only reporter with exclusive access to me."
"Are you serious, William?" Diana asked excitedly, staring at the MP3 player in his hand.
"Of course, dear. You're my first woman, and I'll definitely help you if I can," William nodded.
"Get lost, you scoundrel! How could I believe you're a first-timer with your moves? You must be kidding. I've never been so exhausted after a workout," Diana complained, still sore from their previous exercises.
William thought to himself that while it was true that his body was a first-timer, his soul was not.
England really does produce top-notch women, he mused, admiring Diana's 36D chest, A4 waist, and almond-shaped face. This is what life is all about.
Diana suddenly noticed William's gaze and quickly got up to avoid him, warily saying, "Don't even think about it, William. You won't be getting another workout with me this week. Any more and I'll be dead tired."
Seeing Diana's exhausted look, William realized that having such a fit body had its downsides. His stamina was so good that he hadn't even done many push-ups before the women working out with him got too tired. Exercising alone was no fun; what would he do for the rest of the week?
"Alright, alright. I'll let you off today. We can hit the gym again tomorrow. Come on, take the photos."
"Put the MP3 on the table. I'll take the photos myself later. Don't try to trick me, and don't even think about making me work out this week. I need to rest."
"Do you really need that long to rest? How about we work out together the day after tomorrow?" William negotiated.
"No, a whole week. I don't want to work out at all this week," Diana shook her head firmly.
"Damn, having such a fit body is a hassle. Can't even find a partner to work out with," William grumbled.
"Fine, I'll let you off this time. We'll talk about it next time," he said, then picked up the phone to order breakfast from the front desk. After freshening up, he came out to see Diana, fully dressed, taking photos of the MP3 player.
After breakfast, William drove his new Porsche 911 to drop Diana off at the TV station.
Before she got out, William remembered their archery test arrangement and said, "Dear, I have a great idea. Tell your boss that I specifically requested you to be the host for our archery test. Do you think he'll agree?"
"Really?" Diana asked, looking excited.
"Of course. Who else would I help if not you? When you see your boss, if he asks about our archery test, have him call me to set a time. I'll mention that I want you to be the host. With my support and your good looks, appearing on TV a few more times might just land you a permanent hosting gig," William explained.
"Ahhh, you're amazing! I love you so much! We're on, dear. You have to help me. Maybe in a few days, I can join you for workouts again," Diana exclaimed, hugging and kissing William enthusiastically, promising to join him in the gym despite her exhaustion.
"Heh, I know how to handle you," William laughed. "Of course, I'll call you in the next couple of days."
"Alright, dear. Don't forget. I'll be waiting for you to take me to the gym," Diana said before lingering a bit longer in the car, then finally getting out and walking into the TV station.
Watching Diana strut confidently into the station, William thought, "She's so pragmatic. As long as I can help her get famous, she doesn't mind anything. But Diana's not bad. She's so pretty and still hasn't made it big. If she had really gone down a dark path, she wouldn't still be an outside reporter with no screen time." Thinking about her fiery figure, William felt quite pleased.
Done daydreaming, William took out his phone to call Gareth Mallory from the Security Committee. He needed to meet his future boss.
When the call connected, Gareth's teasing voice came through, "William, the playboy finally has time to call his boss. The papers have been full of your sweet moments with Diana Rigg these past two days. Being so high-profile might upset some people in Downing Street, William."
"Hah, why should I care if they're unhappy? As long as you're not, I'm fine. I don't answer to them. Besides, there's not much left of the Special Group—just me, a lone cat, and I'm just a front. The real power lies with your Security Committee. I'm a billionaire now, and still have to be your enforcer. If not for my grandfather Henry, I wouldn't bother with this so-called W Group."
"Hah, others would kill for this power, but only a playboy like you wouldn't care about W Group. Once you officially join us, you'll see how powerful we are. William, this is your Devonshire family's destiny. You can't escape it. From the moment you were born in England, it was set."
"Hah, alright, Gareth, where should I go to meet you? I don't suppose you want me to go directly to Thames House."
"In half an hour, drive to London Bridge. I'll have someone pick you up," Gareth said, then hung up.
Driving to London Bridge, William sat in his car, watching the traffic and tourists, reflecting on his life. He never thought he'd become a billionaire. It seemed the movie world was indeed better. Being a tycoon, buying sports cars and yachts, flirting with women, and sometimes working as a special agent wasn't too bad. Since the system had just activated his special agent skills, he decided to give it a shot. If it got too dangerous, he'd run; if it got too tedious, he'd pay someone else to do it.
He wouldn't do anything without benefits. After all, he wasn't a true Englishman.
