Longze West Road, Longze Youth Hotel.

Yan Zhuo, wearing a temporarily purchased medical mask, lay on a high platform on the hotel's rooftop with the best view, observing the surroundings through the high-definition holographic scope of a "Heaven's Wrath Type 3" sniper rifle in his hands.

They had already received the news that more than fifty members of the Blood Lizard Gang from the Night Wolf Bar had been slaughtered by unidentified individuals, and "Wild Wolf" Nai Ke had also been killed.

Although there was no evidence to prove that the unidentified individual was targeting their group, they still instinctively became alert and entered a wartime readiness state.

In fact, the best course of action at this time would be to leave the Longze Youth Hotel.

The trouble was that they were not familiar with Base Nine, did not possess legal citizen smart bracelets, and their contact from the Blood Lizard Gang, "Wild Wolf" Nai Ke, had been killed.

After careful consideration, the captain decided to stay, remain alert, and adapt to changes.

After that operation to fight against criminal gangs and terrorism, the security in Base Nine's Eastern Urban District was still very strict, especially since two battalions from the East Asian Republic's armed police were still stationed in the eastern suburbs, and their riot control vehicles could be seen patrolling the main streets daily.

If they, a group without identities, were to act on their own without the protection of the Blood Lizard Gang, they were likely to expose their whereabouts.

Their employer's demands were very strict, requiring them to leave no trace in this assassination mission.

Yan Zhuo heard Captain Acheson's voice coming through his earpiece: "Yan Zhuo, how is it on your end? Any abnormalities?"

"No, everything is normal here."

Yan Zhuo aimed the scope at a hotel across the street, his high-definition holographic scope allowing him to see into a room where a man and a woman were engaged in a fierce battle.

Licking the corner of his lips, Yan Zhuo hoped for the mission to end soon: "Boss, it's been two hours already, should we end the alert status? I think that person isn't targeting us."

Yan Zhuo didn't find anything terrifying about the mysterious person.

From what they now knew, this person had relied on the widespread dispersion of anesthetics in advance to quickly take down the Night Wolf Bar.

Assessing this person's combat ability, it certainly wouldn't exceed that of a lieutenant colonel.

With the overall strength of their action team, as long as they took proper anti-poison precautions, there really was no need to be concerned about this person.

"Let's wait a bit longer, we can't be careless," Captain Acheson spoke gravely: "Brothers, bear with it a little longer. In half an hour, Iron Fist King will send someone to take us to another hiding place."

Yan Zhuo shook his head, his expression somewhat dissatisfied: "Alright! Moving around like rats, but the question is, how long do we have to stay here? Dammit, being cooped up in a room every day without being able to do anything is driving me mad."

In this forsaken place, he couldn't even enjoy himself properly, and Yan Zhuo felt that his combat syndrome would sooner or later flare up.

"Same here."

Captain Acheson sympathetically replied with a tone of helplessness: "I'm absolutely sick of it. If it weren't for Iron Fist King's sincere payment, I would have told him to shove it a long time ago.

Old Yan, let's wait another five days. If that Lin Rui doesn't want to show up, then we will only target Lin Xi. The girl went out to buy groceries today, to the supermarket inside the university. It's very easy to take her down."

Yan Zhuo was surprised: "Not that easy, right? That's insider Mingde University, heavily guarded. Killing her is no problem, but I'm worried about the extraction."

"I know," Captain Acheson sneered: "We don't need to take action ourselves. The mechanic, didn't he get a bunch of scrapped parts from Iron Fist King that belonged to the federal naval marines? He has assembled two fourth-tier combat robots today and is currently adjusting the combat AI. By the day after tomorrow, he should be able to assemble a third one.

What we need to do is get these three robots into the campus."

"Damn, the mechanic has been messing around with this stuff in his room the past couple of days? He's got some serious skills." Thought Yan Zhuo, who found the action plan to be quite good. Not only would they not need to take the risk personally, but extraction would also be convenient.

Speaking of Iron Fist King, the guy also has some wild connections. Being able to get the parts for military robots is probably why their pirate gang's upper echelon values Iron Fist King so much, and has been giving him constant support, right?

"Now, the problem is when the siblings will leave the Martial Cultivator Society."

Just then, Captain Acheson's voice suddenly faltered: "Something feels off, my head's spinning a bit."

"Captain!"

Yan Zhuo frowned deeply, wondering what was wrong with the captain.

It was at this moment he heard an explosion sound, a 'bang', from about two meters behind him.

"Who's there?"

Yan Zhuo tensed up, realizing he was in big trouble!

The noise he just heard was from a small surveillance drone he had set up, which had been destroyed.

The person who had made a move against him not only possessed extremely proficient optical stealth skills but also had top-notch Concealing Breath Skill and was able to move without making any noise.

Up until now, Yan Zhuo couldn't sense the person's aura at all.

And what about his spotter? He was hidden just 20 meters away, observing the nearby situation. Why had there been no alarm or gunshots?

Yan Zhuo didn't hesitate to put down his sniper rifle and, with nearly the speed of lightning, drew his personal knife and turned around.

He saw a tall figure behind him, head covered with a black stocking and wrapped in a black trench coat!

What was terrifying was that this person's swinging double blades were completely untraceable to Yan Zhuo.

Yan Zhuo was a sniper, not adept at close combat, so he could only resist with all his might as he waited for his companions to come to his rescue.

"Clang! Clang clang clang—"

The clash of blades under the night sky sparked a cascade of azure sparks.

To Yan Zhuo's surprise, he found that the opponent's strength was significantly weaker than his own and had not yet reached the level of a school officer. However, the speed of the assailant's blade was incredibly fast, unbelievably so, so fast that Yan Zhuo was almost overwhelmed!

Just as he felt he couldn't hold on any longer, he felt a slight chill at the position of his heart, followed by a cold touch and then a sharp, stabbing pain.

"Flying sword?"

The thought had barely formed in Yan Zhuo's mind when a slash as bright as a white rainbow swept across his neck, sending his head flying away as his body, spurting a fountain of blood, fell to its knees, powerless.

After Lin Rui killed the sniper, a small smile curved the corners of his lips.

Tip: Assassinate a near-fourth stage demon-transformed Martial Cultivator, gain 987 points of Soul Power.

The spirit spirit identified this sniper as near-fourth stage, likely because the man's spiritual power hadn't reached the standard of a major and had forcefully implanted an artificial Golden Core.

However, in this operation, this major-level sniper was the most difficult one to kill.

The wind was strong where this guy was positioned, preventing the diffusion and retention of the anaesthetic Lin Rui had prepared in the vicinity; the sniper also wore a medical face mask, which offered some protection against poison.

And there was actually a spotter hiding nearby, constantly monitoring the surroundings of the sniper, guarding him vigilantly.

But in the end, Lin Rui had still taken him out!

Relying on his Great Grandmaster level Concealing Breath Skill, coupled with Great Grandmaster level tendons and bones refining skills, along with electromagnetic-optical invisibility, Lin Rui could move around almost at will right under these people's noses, so long as he didn't run in front of their detection equipment.

Lin Rui wiped his twin blades on the body of the sniper and then, humming a song, descended from the rooftop.

He arrived at room 5321 of Longze Youth Hotel, then kicked the door open with a single foot.

There were a total of four people in the room, three of whom were already unconscious.

Only team leader Acheson was still conscious, desperately guzzling water in the bathroom to try and mitigate the effect of the anaesthetic.

However, his senses were very blurred. There were several cuts on his thigh, presumably self-inflicted to stay alert through pain.

When Lin Rui kicked the door open, Acheson was slow to react. He only turned his head to shoot at Lin Rui after a brief delay.

But his reactions were too sluggish, too slow. Acheson had fired only a few bullets when Lin Rui had already dashed in front of him and sliced his head in two with a single strike.

Tip: Assassinate a fourth stage demon-transformed Martial Cultivator, gain 2137 points of Soul Power.

As expected of the captain among the seven, he provided quite a lot of Soul Power points.

Lin Rui dealt with the remaining three people in the room and then proceeded to the adjacent room, 5322.

As soon as he kicked the door and stepped inside, rapid gunfire erupted, 'da da da' filling the room.

Two combat robots placed in the corner began firing at Lin Rui with shoulder-mounted heavy-duty power guns.

"The Charger Type 4 combat robot?"

Lin Rui was taken aback, recognizing the standard auxiliary combat robot of the federal military. How did these guys even have this thing with them?

Fortunately, he never let down his guard. Before entering the room, he had scattered a dozen Flash Thunder Talismans outside.

With a thunderous explosion, Lin Rui vanished from the door, reappearing 10 meters away in the corridor.

He noticed that the two Charger Type 4 combat robots had flawed combat logic; they chased after him and continued firing.

With this, the situation became much simpler. Lin Rui dodged while using a flying needle inscribed with talismans to shuttle back into room 5322.

As soon as Lin Rui's body exploded with lightning once more, he reappeared in room 5322.

The living room of the suite was empty. Quickly sensing with his Divine Sense, Lin Rui broke into the far-left room.

This hotel room had apparently been transformed into a workshop, filled with various tools and parts, and in the center stood a temporary workbench.

Behind the workbench, a middle-aged man wearing work glasses and slightly plump in stature, lay limp in his chair, his eyes wide with terror as he looked at Lin Rui.

"Goodbye!"

Lin Rui's eyes were ice-cold as he swung his blade, slicing the mechanic in half, then into quarters.

Then, before the two Charger Type 4 combat robots could return to the room, Lin Rui exploded into a burst of thunder once more, flash-stepping 20 meters away to the outside of the window.

He spread out his arms, unravelled his cloak, and like a bat in the dark, glided into the shadows.

All that was left in the night was a leisurely hum of a nursery rhyme.
