Birth Of The Crafts-God

Chapter 271: Mission Complete

Three days after the survivors were rescued, protests still went on in different parts of the city of Trundel. The Cardaso family, who were the ruling force, were having trouble suppressing the complaints.

Because they stayed so close to the capital of the planet —even though the city was operated by a monarchy— they still had to listen to the people and were not authoritarian with their actions. As such, the people had the freedom to complain and demand explanations from them.

The Cardoso family was also split into two regarding how to deal with the relics and the issue. The higher-ups of both the Preservation and Destruction factions were actually members of the Cardoso family, which was why there was no conclusive decision on the matter yet. Regardless, Lucas didn't care about any of that. His focus was on the mission, and it took him more than three days before Lucas finally completed it.

Staring at the fourth level Apertures Opening stage drudnid 'corpse' on his workbench, Lucas sighed with relief after hearing the system's notification ding.

'Finally.' Lucas sighed with relief.

At the start, Lucas was confident that he could complete the mission with the drudnids, but as he went on, he realised that his progress rate was becoming slow. Some of the magi runes in the drudnids were already familiar to him, so studying them again wouldn't count.

During that time, Lucas began to fret and was worried that he would need to sneak back into the East Braftford relics to view the Aura-breaking stele. Luckily, the fourth level drudnid had helped him cover the gap as it had a whole new set of ideologies and techniques for Lucas to study.

This wasn't strange after all, the drudnid was essentially the same as a second sub-stage vestige. It was only natural for there to be more advanced techniques used on it when compared to the third level drudnids.

This was like the difference between a Tier 1 vestige-smith and a Tier 1 Elite vestige-smith; one made Grade 2 (first sub-stage) vestiges while the other made Grade 3 (second sub-stage) vestiges. The skills and runes they used naturally differed whether in form or efficiency, as well as complicatedness. It made sense why the drudnid's 'corpse' was able to help Lucas cover the gap.

"Now, the best part." Lucas grinned after accepting the rewards for the mission.

The 'Basic Inscription Knowledge' time as well the ten system coins reward was enticing, but Lucas' focus was on something else. Based on his calculations, with this mission now completed, the system would level up once again.

[[ Congratulations to the host for levelling up the system (now level 4). One new system ability is granted.

Rewarding ten system coins, one drop of impure sap from the Tree of Life mixed with Void Dust. ]]

However, it wasn't over.

[[ Congratulations on completing the hidden mission: Inscription Master.

Mission description: Learn an entirely new set of inscriptions without the aid of the system.

Rewards: Five system coins]]

Looking at the notification, Lucas had a wide grin on his face.

Adding up the system coins he got from both achievements and missions in the past and the present, Lucas now had thirty five system coins in his possession. It was still a significant distance away from the five hundred system coins price tag of the Red Dragon Heaven Pill [1]. Nonetheless, it could still do a lot for him. Also, the Red Dragon Heaven Pill wasn't Lucas' bet to attain stellar refinement abilities; it was the mysterious potion that the system wanted him to make.

Thinking about that, Lucas clicked on the third ingredient so far to learn about its details.

[[ Impure sap from the Tree of Life mixed with Void Dust: A unique material that can be used to create heaven-defying items, for instance, a revival drug or a potion to change one's physical condition. Consuming it in its raw form can bring the dead back to life with the right conditions or allow one access to the Arkana Plane. It can also be used to gain either life or void-related abilities. ]]

With the completion of the mission, Lucas had also levelled up the system to level 4, earning him a couple of rewards. He could also pick one out of three system abilities, but Lucas was not in a hurry to do so.

Recalling how the Branch Manager skill had proven to be important, Lucas understood the value of delayed gratification. He might choose an ability now, but it could turn out to not be useful in the future. Hence, it was best just to hold it off for a while.

"Impure Tree of Life sap with Void Dust, huh?" Lucas absent-mindedly muttered the name.

This was the first item that seemed more like a combination of two. Usually, the items were singular and straightforward, like Icarus' Tears or leave from the Tree of Gehenna. However, the reward this time around sounded like a mixture of two items, but why? What's more, it's description was quite similar to the leaf from the Tree of Gehenna, except that it granted life and void-related powers when taken raw, while the latter gave death-related powers.

The system didn't give Lucas any reply so he didn't dwell on it. Maybe it was how the ingredient was supposed to be. Regardless of the truth, it wouldn't change the fact that it was a valuable item for Lucas.

Even though the description showed that the sap would still offer tons of benefits when ingested raw, Lucas didn't try to find out. There was only this one drop, and wasting it was the same as Lucas damning himself to be an average individual.

'One more level.' Lucas thought as he let out a sigh.

For over eight months, he had been living in this world as a 'normal' individual. If it weren't for his battle experience and skills, Lucas might have died many times. He would have died many times more if it weren't for the system's protection as well. However, so long as he could get to level five, that would all change.

"Next is the drift racing team."
