Chapter 24: 24: Blackmailing The Male Lead
The Imperial Princess was in love with Crown Prince Elvis and it was obvious from her expressions and actions.
She only had eyes for the Crown Prince who wasn't even looking in her way. And on the other hand, the king spoke to her.
"You should have informed us you were coming then we would have made a better preparation for you. I feel bad for not preparing something grand for you" King Edward expressed.
"Don't worry about that. It doesn't matter. I came here just to see Crown Prince Elvis. We haven't seen each other in a while" She smiled while staring at Elvis.
Elvis was trying to steal a glimpse at Helen without being obvious.
"How have you been Elvis? Did you miss me?" She asked but Elvis said nothing. There was an awkward silence.
"Well I'm glad you're here Your Imperial Highness. The Prince also did miss you obviously. He's just been busy lately" King Edward explained.
The Imperial Princess, Cordelia, stared into Elvis's face for a while. She now looked worried.
"What's wrong with you?" She asked as she placed her hands over his cheeks "You look sick? Are you?"
"Don't worry about me..." He sneaked his face away from her grip "I'm fine"
"You don't look fine" Cordelia Persisted, her hands on his cheeks again.
******
"Cordelia" Eden mumbled to himself as he stared at the scene that everyone was probably watching.
The one with the royalties involved.
"The annoying female villainess..." Eden mumbled, recalling the amount of drama Cordelia infused in the original book.
And then Eden stared at Helen who he thought would be staring at them, jealous.
But she wasn't even looking. She was enjoying the drink before her.
"The Crown Prince invited you over and is with another lady? Don't you feel bad or something?" Eden casually asked.
"Why would I? It's the Royalty's problem. It has nothing to do with me" Helen shrugged.
Eden raised an eyebrow. That was strange. He tasked his memory to recall the details of this scene in the book.
Based on the original novel, it was still vague if Helen had fallen for Elvis or not. He was the one doing the chasing.
So Eden could guess that she hasn't fallen for him yet.
"The Royalties and their drama" Eden added. He could relate having read a fair share of such books and seen such movies as well.
"I know right?" Helen smiled.
"Yeah. I mean isn't it much better to live freely without having to worry about how to walk or talk in an event without being in trouble. Or how to use the toilet or worry about farting in a banquet"
Helene had burst out into a soft laughter at Eden's words.
"So true" She agreed. "I mean why stress about being held in royal responsible bondages when you can just be free" she expressed gently.
"OMG, I know right" Eden laughed. He was pretty sure she didn't get the OMG part.
But Eden was rather surprised that he could actually talk to Helen. From the book, she didn't seem like someone he'd even enjoy speaking to.
But for some strange reasons, the two of them were trash talking the royals like long time besties or something.
And their bestie chat had caught the eyes of Elvis who had his eyes constantly checking up on Helen's side.
And he had seen them. Getting all friendly and laughing. He was confused, worried and jealous. He was truly the type to get jealous easily.
It was obvious that the other party was a guy. So he wondered why she was getting all close to a guy. And what they were laughing about.
Elvis has gotten so uneasy that he wasn't even fully paying attention to the current conversation that those before him were having.
"Would you like to try some sort of drink mixture? I learnt to make it myself" Eden offered Helen after seeing that Elvis was staring at them.
That was just what he needed. His attention.
"Really? Sure. I'm curious" Helen was one to get comfortable easily with people. And she was with Eden at the moment.
"Okay.. " and so Eden randomly mixed some drinks together. "Here, try it" Eden offered it to Helen, knowing that Elvis was watching.
Helen happily drank it up. "Bitter" she smiled.
"Shit. I guess I should practice more" Eden laughed.
But he had already completed one of his tasks. Giving her a drink in front of Elvis who was still watching them.
And while they laughed over Eden's terrible drink, Eden stared at Elvis who was also looking. Their eyes locked.
Elvis stared at Eden's eyes for a while. And for some reason, something was coming to Elvis's mind. Something familiar.
The two kept staring at each other for awhile as though they were speaking with their eyes. But for Elvis, it was more of him trying to recall those eyes he was staring at.
And soon Elvis did.
"You" Elvis instantly muttered in alert as he pulled out his sword.
It was a random and unexpected move that had everyone shocked and confused. They watched as Elvis pulled out his sword and instantly attacked Eden.
Shocked, Eden had stepped backwards as Elvis's sword slashed past his face, taking off the veil over his face.
His face was exposed to all.
"Isn't that the...."
"That's the..."
"The wizard of EL..."
"What's he doing..here??"
"How did he get in here?"
"What the hell is happening here?"
The room was already filled with tensed murmuring between nobles who had taken steps backwards. They were avoiding being scapegoats.
Now standing In front of Helen in protection, Elvis glared at Eden. His sword extended to Eden's face.
Eden stared at the tip of the sword. Shit, Elvis recognising him was not on his bingo card! But he guessed he'd have to make it work somehow.
"That monster! Protect the Imperial Princess!" The king ordered as the knights gathered Cordelia.
Few nobles had fled the banquet hall to be safe from the wrath of the wizard.
While many were still in there, only standing a far distance to witness the tea.
"How lucky are we that the monster fell right back into our hands. What a lucky day indeed" King Edward said.
"Now My Son. Have his head immediately. This is your chance to make amends. Don't mess it up a second time. Having his head!" The king ordered.
And Elvis was willing to do so. He was more than ready to take Eden's head on the spot. But that was until Eden spoke.
Eden stared at the glass of wine he had given to Helen.
"You saw it to" Eden said to Elvis "She drank it. So what do you think will happen to her next?"
Eden smiled. A devious smile that shattered something in Elvis. It was enough to tell Elvis that Eden had just poisoned Helen.
It was a devastating realisation for Elvis to realise that Eden had dragged someone really important to him into the mess.
"What are you waiting for? Kill him!" The king ordered.
But instead, Elvis walked up to Eden and grabbed him by the hand..
Everyone was beyond shocked as they watched Elvis drag Eden away by the hands.
"Oh dear! What's happening?" A noble lady questioned.
"He didn't kill him off again??"
"What's this? Does this mean there's really something going on between them?"
The King casually stood there, furious and disappointed.
Cordilla was just worried about Elvis. But the guards aren't certainly letting her off their eyes.
"Go get them!" The King ordered the guards. "Go bring them back now!" The king was willing to do it himself.
And so the guards matched off to the inside chambers where Elvis had taken Eden to.
******
Elvis had dragged Eden into a chamber inside and locked the door. Locking off the guards who had soon begun knocking at the door.
"What the hell did you do to her?!" Elvis was burning with fury, his sword on Eden's neck.
Eden stared at the sword "Do you always have to do this whenever we..."
"Speak now!" Elvis snapped.
Eden stiffened as he slowly smiled "Well it's pretty easy. I poisoned her with something even greater. Something that will kill her soon"
Fear and shock engulfed Elvis. And Eden could read them on his face. It was just what he needed. Exactly what he planned for.
"Why the hell... Did you do that? She has nothing to do with any of this...So why..?" He questioned.
Eden smiled "Well. Let's just say I wanted something from all these"
The knock at the door had increased. As though they were going to break down the door anytime soon.
"Heal her now. unless I'll have you dead"
Eden smiled "Sure. Be my guest and kill me. Then you can die too. Your whole royal family will also be no more. And your lover can also join the death train. It'd be a beautiful love story in the end. Everyone's happy" Eden struggled.
The hit on the door got even louder.
"What the hell do you want?"
Elvis knew Eden had a reason behind all these.
Eden smiled, hesitating for some seconds "Well. Since you asked, I'll get straight to the point"
Eden slowly walked up to Elvis who still was at alert with his sword.
"Protect me" Eden said "From The Royal Family, From this kingdom, from everyone who wants me dead"
Now Eden stared into Elvis's eyes. Locking eyes with him "Keep me close and protect me from everyone"
