Chapter 49: 49. Let's Get Wet
(Before anybody makes their own conclusions, I am writing this on 13th, even though the previous message was written before Valentine xD; Anyway, I have seen that this fic is not really getting much support as it used to(which is determined by Powerstones or Patreon members),
Normally, I would have been hesitant to drop this fic and create a new one, but this time I already have the plot of my next fic prepared, so I am going to give you guys a deadline-- 20 chapters or nearly a month.
If the fic is still not up to par by that time, then unfortunately, it just means that not many people like this fic, and I am not going to work on such works as I have a past of doing that till now and I am not going to repeat my mistake.
If you don't believe whether I will drop this fic or not, then just go to my author section and check how many works and how many chapters they were at before I dropped it.
So, if you really like this fic to continue, then give powerstones to this work. )
'I finally know his limits, time to end this battle.' Akeru's grin disappeared and his usual stoic face returned.
Yami sent some slashes at him, but before they could reach him, Akeru jumped.
It was a very big leap as he had released some mana while doing it and started flying with the help of his mana zone while still ascending.
Yami didn't chase him in the air but sent a number of flying dark slashes at him; however, due to the distance and how much mana he was putting in mana bursts, even Akeru's defensive shell didn't get hit.
Akeru had built up mana around him at multiple places and chose which one to release only when Yami released a fast slash, thus rendering Yami's Ki sensing useless in this scenario.
After reaching a decent height of around 5 kilometers, Akeru stopped.
"Captain, let's get wet, shall we?" Akeru said with a playful smile while lifting one of his arms up with his palm stretched.
Though the distance between them was very huge, Yami could still see him with his eyes enhanced with mana and by reading his lips.
A palm-sized water ball formed above Akeru's palm which exponentially grew bigger.
Purple lightning flowed entirely through the ball, giving it a purplish-blue hue.
Yami's eyes widened and he tried to send multiple slashes at Akeru while he was forming the water ball; however, to his disappointment, all of them were dodged.
The concentrated ones that had previously managed to pierce through Seraph's shell now weren't able to, as just before those attacks made contact, the purple hue intensified.
'Though the density of mana which I can control and vibrate to form Oscillatory Chaos is not as high compared to what I could do when I solely focus on it, I could still occasionally increase the density of mana in some regions before contact to replicate that to some extent, though prolonging that would come at the cost of focusing entirely on maintaining the spell,' Akeru continued pumping mana from the surroundings into his water ball.
Mana method really was the best blessing to him.
It only took three seconds for the water ball to reach the zenith of its size.
"I don't think I would just get wet with that spell," Yami commented while a black cocoon covered him.
The big water ball had a radius of nearly one kilometer.
The bottom part of the water sphere had purple lightning vibrating manically.
"Hehe, we will see about that."
Akeru's one arm, which from a distance seemed like it was holding the weight of the colossal ball, started moving along with the direction of his palm until it started moving downward.
'Hehe, though I never learned fancy spells like creating bikes from water or creating animal constructs like lions with water, which required ridiculous control and without having it as my primary water affinity, it was close to impossible to learn it in just 3 years, I still can use this.'
Water Magic: Water Ball
The purple ball made contact with the ground.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
The sound it created was dozens of times greater than the sound created by Yami and Akeru's battle until now.
Plants and animals in the forest were terrified and started to run away from the location.
'He could have probably run away but realized that I would have chased him down. Though it would have been too much trouble to transport this big ball of water, I still would have hit him. Anyway, Captain probably didn't want to risk getting hit by that, especially when vibratory chaos was active at the lower part,' Akeru waited, landing on the ground while waiting for the smoke to reduce.
He ignored that and rushed straight towards Yami when he was coming out of his cocoon.
"Brat, that really took a huge load of mana from me to maintain that defense," Yami cursed just as Akeru came into view and slashed towards him.
Akeru changed the orientation of his body so that he barely missed the flying slash aimed at him.
'Vibratory Chaos: Maximum lethality.' All the mana of Akeru's mana zone went towards his hands as a very dense amount of water covered his arm with a fully purple color.
The black hole that had formed in the path of Akeru's hands was obliterated even before it fully manifested.
'Fuck, when did he...?' Yami's eyes widened.
He found his body paralyzed suddenly.
This was also the reason for his black hole spell not properly forming.
"And that's checkmate," Akeru said as his arm was a few meters away from Yami's body.
He would make contact in less than a second.
Yami's decent amount of mana went into the sole of one of his feet as he evaporated a rune that was placed at the sole of his shoes.
Akeru had put that earlier when he got kicked by Yami.
Yami wasn't able to sense this action with his Ki, which was the reason for his surprise.
Akeru had activated 'Silent Nobody' in some instances during the battle to hide his intention; due to the very short span in which this happened, Yami wasn't able to notice.
'I would be able to make one slash before he reaches me, but it seems he knows that too, as he had transferred most of his mana to the parts where my blade would make contact, and knowing by how he could increase the intensity of that weird lightning spell, I won't be able to cut through it given my current position,' Yami frowned as he felt the world slow down as Akeru inched closer slowly.
He had only felt this feeling very few times in his life.
Akeru's eyes widened as he noticed Yami's grimoire shining.
"Dark Magic: Dark Cloaked Dimension Slash"
'Bystander's Magic: Still Spectator'
Akeru felt the world slow down as he noticed a black slash coming from Yami's sword.
Due to the timing and nature of his spell, he could see it being formed directly.
'This isn't really fair, how the fuck am I supposed to defend against an attack which can literally cut through dimensions to reach the target, let alone poor me who is so close to the spell?' Akeru felt heartbroken.
To be honest, Akeru was unaware that in the last three years, due to his existence, Yami had upped his training a bit.
Though it was nothing significant, it was enough for him to break his limits when pushed against a wall.
Akeru was able to act as the wall.
'I don't want this to end.' Akeru felt a strong emotion in his whole being.
He couldn't identify which emotion it was, but his grimoire responded to his call as it began shining.
'Bystander's Magic: 3D Witness.' Akeru felt the slowed world change in view.
His perception of reality shifted very drastically in the next instant.
A point could be said to be a 0-dimensional object or an object that doesn't occupy any space.
A point when extended in both directions becomes a line which is considered a 1D object.
A line when extended perpendicular to itself becomes a plane which is a 2D object.
A plane when extended perpendicular to itself becomes what we call 3D space or how normal humans perceive reality.
Every 3D object occupies volume and makes its presence known in the space surrounding it.
'Everything has a presence in the space, or more like they are bending the space around them to exist, that's the best way I could put it, though I need to ponder more,' Akeru thought as he observed the dark slash coming towards him.
'That slash isn't interacting with anything in the space and directly moving towards me, it's kind of not being the space and yet kind of is still at the same time?' Akeru was really baffled as he noticed the slash closing upon him.
'It's like it is on a different plane altogether.' He finally had a way to best describe it.

A/N- Lol, that explanation was necessary for the future as it would be significant when understanding spatial and temporal magic and how they exactly work.
Things like Finral's magic would have some sort of future explanation too as from what I could see, it's basically creating a wormhole. I might even delve more into the working of wormholes to expand the world building.
What do you guys think?
