Chapter 13: Chapter 13: First Mission
Next morning, I woke up as usual, feeling the warmth beside me. My eyes fluttered open, and the first thing I saw was Luna's serene face, still resting peacefully. Smiling, I leaned in and pressed a soft kiss on her lips.
Her eyelashes trembled slightly before she slowly opened her golden eyes, gazing at me with a gentle smile. "Mmm… good morning, Master."
I chuckled and kissed her again. "Good morning, Luna."
She hummed in satisfaction, snuggling closer for a moment before I reluctantly pulled myself away. As much as I enjoyed lazing around with Luna, my body was already itching to move.
Slipping out of bed, I stretched my limbs and stepped onto the wooden floor. The crisp morning air was refreshing as I moved into my usual workout routine—push-ups, sit-ups, squats, and a variety of combat drills to keep my body sharp. Beads of sweat soon formed, but I welcomed the familiar burn in my muscles.
After finishing my workout, I stood up and exhaled deeply, feeling energized. But my training wasn't over yet. With a flick of my wrist, a swirling portal of chaotic energy appeared before me—a direct passage to my personal Grand Magic Zone.
After six months of refining, the zone had finally taken full form. It was now a vast and untamed land overflowing with chaotic mana, a perfect place for my training. Stepping through the portal, I arrived at the familiar realm, feeling the dense, unstable mana pressing against my body.
I closed my eyes and began my mana training, letting the wild energy swirl around me as I attempted to control and refine it. It was a constant struggle, but that was what made it worth mastering. An hour passed in what felt like mere moments, and by the time I finished, I could feel my mana control improving, albeit slightly.
With training done, I opened the portal back to my room and stepped through. Luna was still lounging on the bed, watching me with an amused look. "Master, you're always so diligent."
I wiped off the last remnants of sweat with a towel before walking toward the bathroom. "Of course. Strength doesn't come from nothing, after all."
Luna giggled. "That is true. But I still prefer when you stay in bed with me a little longer."
I smirked. "Then maybe I'll make up for it later."
She beamed at that, and with that, I entered the bathroom to freshen up. The hot water felt amazing after my workout, and once I was done, I stepped out, only to see my clothes neatly laid out for me.
I smiled and turned to Luna. "Thanks, Luna-chan."
She simply nodded with a small smile. "You're welcome, Master."
After getting dressed, I walked over to her and stole another kiss before grabbing her hand. "Come on, let's get breakfast."
We headed down to the cafeteria, which was still mostly empty, save for a few early risers. I got my breakfast from the chef—a plate filled with eggs, bacon, fresh bread, and fruit—before sitting down with Luna. We ate together, sharing bites of food every now and then.
Not long after, Leopold and Erwin walked in. Spotting me, Leopold grabbed a plate of food and made his way over. Sitting down, he grinned. "So, you're an early riser, huh?"
I nodded, taking a sip of my drink. "I always wake up early to train. It's a habit."
Leopold nodded in approval. "As expected of my rival."
I nearly choked on my drink. "Wait, what? How did I become your rival?"
Leopold blinked, as if just realizing he hadn't said it out loud before. "Oh, right. I forgot to tell you." Then, with an air of confidence, he declared, "I, Leopold Vermillion, hereby declare you my rival!"
I stared at him in disbelief before shaking my head. "No thanks. Besides, I never said I wanted to be the Wizard King."
Leopold and Erwin both froze. "What?!?" they shouted in unison, looking at me like I had just said the most outrageous thing.
Leopold leaned forward. "What do you mean you don't want to be Wizard King?"
I shrugged. "I meant exactly what I said. I have no interest in spending my life buried under mountains of paperwork. My goal is to be the strongest mage, not to sit in an office all day dealing with politics."
Leopold and Erwin stared at me, as if trying to process my words. Finally, I looked at Leopold and smirked. "But if you really want a rival, I know just the person for you."
Leopold narrowed his eyes. "Who?"
"You might know him. Asta, the kid with no magic from the entrance exam. He's a Black Bull now, but don't underestimate him. He's strong, and I guarantee you he'll surprise you."
Leopold seemed intrigued, rubbing his chin. "Asta, huh? Then I definitely want to meet him."
After that, we continued chatting about various things until they finished their breakfast. As we leaned back in our seats, enjoying the relaxed atmosphere, a thought crossed my mind.
"By the way," I said, glancing at Leopold. "How exactly do missions work in the squad? Do we just show up and ask Fuegoleon for one?"
Leopold chuckled, shaking his head. "Not exactly. Missions are usually assigned by the captain or given to us through the Magic Knights' headquarters. The captain calls us when there's something important, but otherwise, we're free to do whatever we want until then—training, sparring, or even just relaxing."
I raised an eyebrow. "So, we just wait around until we're needed?"
Leopold shrugged. "Pretty much. Though, if you're looking for something to do, you can check the mission board for lower-ranked missions. But the higher-ranked ones? Those are handled by the captain or headquarters."
I nodded, taking in the information. "Sounds pretty laid-back then."
"Yeah, for the most part," Erwin chimed in. "Unless something urgent comes up, you're free to do whatever you like."
Hearing that, I leaned back in my seat, considering my options. I could relax for a bit, maybe work on my mana control or spar with someone if I felt like it.
Luna, who had been listening quietly, turned to me with a playful glint in her eyes. "Master, does that mean you'll be spending more time with me?"
I chuckled, reaching out to gently rub her forehead. "Of course, Luna-chan."
She grinned, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "I'm looking forward to it, Master!"
With our plans for the day now open, we finished up our conversation and left the cafeteria, each of us deciding how to spend our free time until the next mission arrived.
So after sitting around for a while, we split up to do our own things. I was just strolling around the lake when I noticed an owl soaring through the air, carrying a few letters. It hit me like a ton of bricks. "Yikes! I completely forgot to send a letter to the church!"
(A/N: Oops! That was totally my fault.)
Luna, who had been walking beside me, chuckled softly. "Hehe! Master, you're so forgetful."
Embarrassed, I rubbed the back of my head. "Well, no time to write a letter now. How about I just visit them in person?"
Luna's eyes lit up, and she nodded. "That's a great idea, Master."
With a grin, I waved my hand, opening a portal. "Then let's not waste any time."
I stepped through, the portal closing behind me. Upon arrival, the church was eerily quiet—no one was outside. Just as I began to wonder where everyone had gone, a loud exclamation rang out from inside.
"What?!"
That was all I needed to know. Everyone was inside. Smiling to myself, I walked towards the door and entered the church. It seemed they hadn't noticed me yet, as they were all focused on Asta's letter.
"Are you all surprised?" I called out, breaking the silence.
The room fell still for a moment, and then everyone turned, their eyes wide. But Aruru and Hollo were the first to react.
"Ryo!!!" they exclaimed, rushing toward me.
I smiled warmly and swept them both up into my arms, giving them a tight hug.
Father, who had been standing nearby, blinked in surprise. "Ryo! Why are you here? Did you fail?"
I chuckled, shaking my head. "No, I passed. See this?" I gestured toward the crimson Crimson Lions robe I was wearing.
They all leaned in to get a better look at it, their faces lighting up.
"I wanted to share the good news in person," I continued, "so I came here to let you all know."
I spent the next little while telling them all about the capital, the exam, and how everything went down. As we chatted, Sister Lily kindly offered me breakfast, but I had to politely decline, explaining that I had already eaten and needed to get back to the HQ.
After a few more words of thanks and goodbyes, I opened a portal once again, waving them off before stepping through it and returning to the Crimson Lions HQ.
As I walked out, I noticed Leopold and Erwin looking around, clearly searching for me. Erwin spotted me first and called out, "Where did you go, Ryo?"
I shrugged casually, "I just went back to my village to let everyone at the church know that I passed."
They both seemed stunned for a moment before their eyes shifted to the portal behind me, which was closing. "You can use spatial magic?!" Erwin exclaimed.
I nodded. "Yep, I can!"
Leopold grinned. "That's so cool!"
I couldn't help but chuckle. "Thanks. So, why were you two looking for me?"
Leopold snapped his fingers in realization. "Right! We just got a mission. Brother is asking us to go see him in the office."
I nodded, and together, we made our way to Fuegoleon's office. After climbing a few flights of stairs, we arrived and knocked on the door. When we received the signal, we entered.
Fuegoleon was busy, likely writing a report. Not all Magic Knight squads have the luxury of being as leisurely as the Black Bulls. It has earned that reputation, being considered the "worst" due to its chaotic nature and its small size of members. Other squads have larger teams and more missions to juggle, so it was clear that Fuegoleon was swamped with his own paperwork.
Once he finished, he set his report aside and turned his attention to us. "The Wizard King has assigned us a mission," he said, his voice steady but serious. "Reports came in about a group of rebel mages causing trouble on the outskirts. Normally, we wouldn't send rookies on a mission like this—it's dangerous, and you lack the experience. However, our senior mages are occupied with other tasks, so for now, I'm sending the three of you."
Leopold straightened, taking the lead. "Understood, Captain."
Fuegoleon nodded. "Leopold, you've handled enough missions now. You'll take the lead on this one."
Leopold gave a firm nod. "Yes, Captain."
We all gave a Magic Knight salute, and Fuegoleon dismissed us with a wave. The three of us grabbed our brooms and flew off toward the mission location.
The mission location was quite a distance away, so during the flight, I decided to ask, "Who exactly are these rebel mages, anyway?"
Leopold glanced at me as he answered. "There are a few types. Some are deserters from the army, others from the Magic Knights, and some are just bandits. But they all have one thing in common—they do evil deeds. And it's not just people from our kingdom; there are some from neighboring countries too. Individually, they're easier to handle, but in this case, they've banded together, which makes it more complicated. A group like this is something rookies can't deal with, and it's usually senior mages who would take action."
I frowned, trying to make sense of it all. "Then why did Captain Fuegoleon let us take on this mission?"
Leopold looked at me and answered with a grin. "Brother probably chose us mainly because of you."
"Me?!" I was surprised.
He nodded. "Yeah. You're a rookie, but you have enough magic power that even the captains take you seriously. The only thing you're lacking is combat experience. This mission is perfect for you—it's dangerous, sure, but you'll get some valuable combat experience."
I nodded in understanding, feeling both excited and a little nervous. Then Leopold added, "The same goes for Erwin. As a noble, he has a solid amount of magic power, but like you, he needs more combat experience. This mission might be dangerous, but that's why I'm here. As long as I'm around, you two won't be in too much danger."
We both nodded, grateful for the reassurance, and then quickened our pace, eager to reach our destination.
As we neared the ruined village, the outline of the rebel camp became clearer. The destruction left behind suggested that this village had been recently raided. We continued on, approaching a bit closer before deciding to cover the remaining distance on foot. We landed on a tall tree branch that gave us a clear view of the entire village. Carefully, we placed our brooms beside us and began to observe.
I closed my eyes, tapping into my mana sense to scan the area. Leopold, ever vigilant, observed the scene below and muttered, "Looks like this is a large group. I can see a lot of people."
I opened my eyes, confirming his observation. "Precisely. About 65 mages. The strongest ones have the magic power of senior mages—two of them, likely the leader and vice-leader. The rest are mostly junior mages, with a few intermediate-level ones mixed in. I can also sense a lot of prisoners—mainly men, both young and old. There are a few elderly women locked in cages as well."
I pointed to the houses that stood near the center of the village. "The women and children are in these houses," I said with anger simmering in my voice. "These beasts... many of the women have been brutally raped, their bodies bruised and battered, their clothes torn."
Leopold and Erwin's expressions darkened as they clenched their fists in fury. Leopold, trying to keep his composure, asked, "How did you gather so much detail?"
I took a deep breath to steady myself before speaking. "I used Mana sense to detect them all. It lets me pick up on their emotions, their fears... even their intentions. These bastards aren't human—they're nothing more than beasts. At least I won't have any hesitation when it comes to killing them anymore."
I provided additional details, pointing out the locations of the patrols and weak points in the defenses. "Here's the plan," I said, voice firm. "I'll take care of the leader and vice-leader. You two clear out the rest of the mages. If I don't finish with them in time, join me. If I do, I'll come support you."
Leopold gave a sharp nod of approval. "Understood."
I turned to Luna, who had been silently watching from the corner of my eye. "Ready?" I asked.
She nodded, her gaze cold, reflecting the same killing intent that simmered within me.
Without another word, we split up to carry out our roles.
As Leopold and Erwin launched their attacks on the base, the entire rebel camp was thrown into chaos. Flames erupted from Leopold's hands, sending waves of fire crashing into the surrounding structures. Erwin's magic followed close behind, creating blasts of icy wind that froze anything it touched, quickly turning the flames into steam and smoke.
The rebels, caught off guard, scrambled in every direction, trying to defend their position. But it was too late—they were already being overwhelmed.
I stood back for a moment, watching them wreak havoc. Their attacks had drawn the majority of the attention, pulling the rebel forces toward them. It was the perfect distraction.
"Time to test this out," I murmured to Luna.
Luna's golden eyes gleamed in my consciousness. "Then let us begin, Master."
I closed my eyes, focusing as the connection between Luna and me deepened. A surge of power, unlike anything I had felt before, coursed through me, swirling in a chaotic yet controlled flow. The world around me blurred as Spirit Union took hold.
[Chaos Magic: Spirit Union – Knight Form]
The transformation began at my core, a wave of energy radiating outward, making my body hum with raw power. My muscles tightened, my already defined physique becoming even more refined as my entire being was reforged under the pressure of the union. It wasn't just a power-up—it was an evolution.
Then, the first changes took form. My normally unruly black hair shimmered before shifting completely into a stark silver, my golden eyes burned brighter, giving me an intense, almost predatory look. There was nothing delicate or graceful about this change—it was pure, unrestrained might.
Next, my Crimson Lion robe twisted and morphed, solidifying into something far more fitting for battle. A fitted, dark armor formed around me, reinforced by chaotic energy. The chest plate bore the emblem of the Crimson Lions, but now it pulsed as if infused with power, its aura radiating heat like an untamed flame. The armor wasn't bulky; it was sleek, designed for swift movement while offering protection—perfect for a close-range fighter.
Then came the most striking transformation.
Two chaotic wings erupted from my back, shifting and morphing with an ever-changing spectrum of colors—streaks of crimson, violet, azure, and gold constantly flowing and blending together like a living aurora. They weren't mere decorations—they were weapons, pulsating with raw, untamed energy. Each flex sent out gusts of chaotic magic, distorting the air around me, warping the very space I occupied. The wings didn't have a fixed form; they shifted unpredictably, sometimes appearing feathered, sometimes sleek and angular, their edges crackling with unstable power.
Finally, my grimoire, hovering beside me, began to glow violently. The pages flipped rapidly before the book itself twisted, compressing into a new form. It folded in on itself, reshaping into a sleek black katana—a blade born of my magic, designed for destruction. The handle was wrapped in crimson leather, and the blade pulsed with an ominous, chaotic aura, as if eager to cut down whatever stood in its way.
The transformation complete, I flexed my wings, the sensation of Spirit Union thrumming in every fiber of my being.
This was a close-range battle form, the Knight Form I created, and it was time to put it to use.
Without hesitation, I shot forward. The moment my feet left the ground, I was a blur, streaking through the battlefield like a phantom.
The first wave of rebel mages barely had time to react before I cut through them. One fell instantly as my Chaos Blade carved through his chest. Another tried to cast a spell, but a simple burst of [Chaos Magic: Chaos Pulse] disintegrated him before he could even finish chanting. A third foolishly tried to run—he didn't get far before a single flick of my wing sent a golden arc of energy slicing through his body.
The central house loomed ahead. Their strongest were inside—I could sense them.
As I landed at the entrance, the doors burst open, and two figures stepped out.
The Leader—a tall, broad-shouldered man with wild red hair and a cocky smirk—and his Vice-Leader, a lean but muscular man whose entire body radiated with fire magic.
The Leader's eyes locked onto me, his smirk widening. "So, you're the one who dared attack us?"
The Vice-Leader cracked his knuckles, his hands engulfed in roaring flames. "Big mistake, kid."
I tilted my head, my golden eyes gleaming with amusement. "That so?" I rested my katana on my shoulder, wings twitching slightly as if eager for blood. "Because from where I stand, you're already dead."
(A/N: Get the reference?)
The Leader chuckled, raising a hand. "You're confident. I like that. But confidence means nothing without power."
I smirked. "Then its a good thing that I have both."
Before either of them could react, I vanished from their sight.
In an instant, I appeared in front of the Vice-Leader, swinging my katana straight at his neck. He barely had time to react, throwing up a flaming barrier, but it wasn't enough—my blade tore through it, forcing him back with a grunt.
The Leader lunged at me from the side, his fists glowing with intense fire magic, but I sidestepped effortlessly, countering with a lightning-fast wing slash. He barely managed to dodge, the edge of my wing cutting into his shoulder.
"You're fast," the Leader admitted, rolling his arm. "But speed alone won't save you."
I scoffed. "You're not the first to say that. And you won't be the last."
The fight intensified. They worked together, the Vice-Leader launching explosive fireballs while the Leader covered him with relentless melee attacks. But they weren't nearly fast enough.
I weaved through their strikes, dodging and countering with precise, calculated movements. Every attack they threw was read, analyzed, and countered within seconds.
It didn't take long to figure them out. The Leader had brute strength and experience, but he lacked unpredictability. The Vice-Leader was powerful, but his magic had too many openings.
I was already bored.
"Is this all?" I taunted, dodging another clumsy punch. "I expected more from your big, scary rebel group."
The Leader gritted his teeth. "Shut up, brat!" He thrust his hands forward, summoning a massive flame dragon that roared toward me.
I sighed. "Pathetic."
With a single slash, I tore through the dragon, its form dissipating into useless embers.
The Vice-Leader saw his opening and charged with a flaming punch aimed at my head.
I caught his fist mid-air. The moment I twisted his arm, a sickening crack echoed through the battlefield.
He screamed.
"You're done," I said coldly.
The Leader, desperate, charged at me with everything he had.
I didn't let him reach me.
[Chaos Magic: Annihilation Arc]
A surge of colorful sharp energy erupted from my katana as I swung, a massive arc of chaotic destruction engulfing both of them instantly.
They couldn't even scream before their bodies were erased completely.
With the biggest threats eliminated, I turned my gaze back to the battlefield.
"Time to clean up the rest." I muttered
As I descended upon the remaining rebels like a force of nature, my wings of ever-shifting colors spread wide, casting a chaotic glow over the battlefield. Every movement I made left behind streaks of swirling energy, warping reality for brief moments before snapping back into place. My Chaos Blade, pulsing with unstable magic, cut through the enemy forces like a scythe through wheat.
Rebels screamed in terror, some trying to flee, but it was useless. I was too fast. Too relentless. A single sweep of my sword tore through multiple enemies, their bodies dissolving into nothingness under the sheer force of my chaos-infused strikes. Others were crushed by my [Chaos Magic: Entropy Field], their bodies unable to withstand the collapsing force of their own magic turning against them.
Leopold and Erwin, having already cleared out their share of opponents, stood frozen for a moment, staring at me in stunned silence.
Leopold was the first to react, his golden eyes wide with a mixture of awe and disbelief. "By the flames… Ryo, what the hell is that form?" he muttered under his breath. His usual cocky confidence was replaced by something closer to respect—maybe even fear.
Erwin, usually more composed, swallowed hard. "I-It's like he's not even human anymore…" he whispered, gripping his grimoire tighter.
I smirked at their reactions, effortlessly dodging a desperate fireball launched by one of the last rebels. With a casual flick of my wrist, I instantly sent a fully charged [Chaos Magic: Chaos Bolt] his way, erasing him from existence.
"What's wrong? You both look like you've seen a ghost," I teased, landing smoothly beside them as the last traces of my power began to settle. My chaotic, ever-shifting wings flickered one last time before dissipating into motes of colorful energy, and my silver hair gradually faded back to black as the Spirit Union ended.
At the same time, my Chaos Blade pulsed, its solid form unraveling into streaks of colorful light before condensing back into my grimoire, which floated beside me once more, its pages fluttering gently.
Then Luna materialized mid-air, her graceful form descending until she perched lightly on my shoulder. Her golden eyes gleamed with amusement, her translucent wings fluttering as she observed the two stunned Magic Knights before us.
Leopold blinked, shaking his head in disbelief. "That wasn't normal," he muttered. "That was like something out of a nightmare… but in a badass way."
Erwin nodded slowly, still gripping his grimoire. "No wonder Captain Fuegoleon trusted you with this mission… if this is your power, you're already far beyond rookie level. I guess the Captains had already sensed your power."
I chuckled, rolling my shoulders, feeling the lingering thrill of combat in my veins. "Well, that was a fun warm-up."
Leopold sighed, rubbing his temples. "Fun, he says… remind me to never piss you off." I chuckled at his words, the tension of the battlefield finally easing. The area was quiet now, with only the stains of blood on the floor telling the grim tale of what had just transpired.
"Let's free the villagers now," I said, my voice steady despite the heavy atmosphere.
They nodded in agreement, and we split into three groups. Leopold headed toward the area where the men were imprisoned, while Erwin moved to the cages holding the elderly women. I made my way to the houses where the tortured women and children were kept.
When I broke open the first door, I was met with the sight of trembling women and children, their eyes wide with fear. My fists clenched at the injustice they had suffered, but I forced myself to calm down. "Don't worry," I reassured them, my voice soft but firm. "You're all safe now. We've killed those beasts."
At the sound of my words, the women and children stopped trembling, their fearful expressions slowly replaced by relief. When they saw my Magic Knight robe, the tension seemed to ease, and they began to follow me out.
I moved through the rest of the houses, freeing the remaining captives, and led them all to the center of the village. Once gathered, the villagers' reactions were a mix of joy and sorrow. The joy of finally being free, and the sorrow of the lives lost—many women had been brutally abused, their pure bodies stolen from them.
The four of us stood in silence, the weight of it all sinking in. Luna, sensing my inner turmoil, took her human form and gently took my hand in hers, offering quiet reassurance.
It wasn't long before an elderly man—who I assumed was the village chief—approached us, leaning on the support of a few other men. He bowed deeply in gratitude. "Thank you, Lord Magic Knights" he said, his voice thick with emotion. "You've saved us. Please accept this as a token of our gratitude."
We politely declined their reward, knowing we had done what was necessary. As we called our brooms, we took one last look at the village and, without another word, headed back to the HQ.
On the way back, the heavy fog of the village's horrors began to lift, and we slowly returned to our usual selves. Leopold, ever the eager one, started explaining how to give a mission report. The journey felt lighter, and as we neared the HQ, we picked up speed.
Once we landed, we returned our brooms and made our way to Fuegoleon's office to report back. As we entered, we found him buried in paperwork, his focus unwavering despite the mountain of forms scattered around him.
I nudged Leopold and grinned. "See that? Now multiply it by ten. That's the amount of paperwork a Wizard King has to deal with every day. This is exactly why I don't want that title."
I could see Leopold pause, his expression wavering as doubt crept in. I couldn't help but laugh at his reaction.
Fuegoleon glanced up from his paperwork and handed us a form. "Fill this out with your report," he instructed.
I smiled and passed the form to Leopold. "It's the captain's job to handle this."
Leopold shot me a look of helplessness but began filling it out, while Erwin and I stood by to help with the details.
Half an hour later, we were done. We handed the form back to Fuegoleon and gave him a brief summary of the mission. He listened intently, his face growing more serious with each word. It wasn't the first time he had heard such a report, but even he couldn't mask his frustration.
"Great work, the three of you," Fuegoleon said, his tone a mix of praise and reprimand. "Especially you, Ryo. You shouldn't rush into things like that, but I can see you were confident and aware of your strength. I'll report this to the Wizard King. You all can take the day off tomorrow."
We all thanked him, saluting the Captain, before leaving his office and heading for some much-needed rest.
After leaving Fuegoleon's office, we decided to freshen up. I left Luna in the room and headed to the common bath. The hot water felt incredible as I sank into the steamy depths, the warmth soothing my muscles. I stretched out, then said, "No wonder you said this is the most useful thing. It really is comfortable to take a warm soak after a hard day of work."
Leopold, who had settled beside me, smirked. "Told you so."
We soaked in silence for a while, the peace of the bath helping us unwind. After a while, I stood up, dried off, and slipped into my clothes. Once I was dressed, I walked back to my room, feeling refreshed.
As soon as I stepped inside, Luna's voice rang out, full of cheer. "Master, are you finally back?"
I gave her a small nod. "Did you miss me?"
Luna's golden eyes sparkled, and she nodded eagerly. "Of course! It was quite boring in here."
Unable to resist her playful complaint, I walked over, grabbed her by the waist, and kissed her. The kiss was soft, lingering for a moment before I pulled back. "Are you satisfied by my apology?"
Her cheeks flushed a deep pink, but she nodded shyly.
With a grin, I decided to spend the rest of the evening with Luna. We relaxed by the small pond near the HQ, the cool air of the evening adding to the tranquility. As the sun set, we made our way to the cafeteria for dinner.
As we entered the cafeteria, it was as lively as yesterday. I found Leopold and Erwin and joined them. As we were talking, Fuegoleon walked in. Seeing this, everyone turned their attention to the podium. Then Fuegoleon announced, "Great work today, everyone. I would also like to announce that we gained another star today thanks to the efforts of our newest members. Now, let's give them a warm applause."
Hearing this, everyone cheered while looking at us. Then Fuegoleon released the star from his hands, which flew towards the board behind him and landed on it. He continued, "Now we are at 61 stars and have become the second-place squad behind Golden Dawn, just ahead of Silver Eagles. I want you all to work hard to keep our position."
Everyone erupted into cheers. "Yes!!"
Leopold then took the opportunity to explain to us how the stars worked. He told us that they were granted by the Wizard King for exceptional and meritorious service out in the field to individual Magic Knights and even teams. He also mentioned the festival at the end of each year, where the rankings were announced to the public, and how it was a great honor to be in the top three.
The dinner soon came to an end, but unlike the previous night, no one drank much. Everyone was determined to keep their second-place position, so they needed to stay focused. I took my time heading back to my room since tomorrow was a day off, so I wasn't in a hurry. But before returning, I decided to make the cake that Luna loved.
After everyone left, I asked Luna to wait at the table and headed to the kitchen. Luckily, the chef was still there, which made things easier. After some time, I finished making the sweet chocolate cake. When the chef took a bite, he burst into tears, saying it tasted just like his mother used to make. He even told me I had a bright future as a chef. I just chuckled and told him maybe some other time. Before leaving, I set aside a few pieces for the chefs in the kitchen, then carried the rest of the cake back with me.
As I placed it down, I looked at Luna and said, "So, what do you think?"
"Master… is this…?" she asked, her golden eyes shimmering.
I smirked and placed it down in front of her. "What do you think?"
She gazed at the cake with clear excitement. "Thank you, Master! It looks delicious!"
I nodded. "Go on—try it. I made it just for you."
Luna blinked in surprise, looking at me before glancing back at the cake.
"You… made this?" she asked softly.
I smiled. "Didn't I promise you yesterday that I would? So here you go."
Realization dawned in her expression, and her eyes sparkled with joy. Without hesitation, she picked up a spoon, scooped a small bite, and placed it into her mouth.
The moment the cake hit her tongue, her eyes lit up even more.
"Wow… Master, this is incredible!" she exclaimed, practically melting in happiness. "It's even better than the one I had yesterday!"
I chuckled at her reaction. "So? Do you like it?"
She looked up at me with the brightest smile. "Like it? I love it! Thank you, Master!"
Overcome with excitement, she suddenly leaned in and kissed me on the lips. The lingering sweetness from the cake made the kiss even more pleasant. After a moment, she seemed to realize what she had just done and quickly sat back, her cheeks flushed red.
I laughed softly and teased, "If you love it that much, then eat as much as you want."
Luna, still blushing, eagerly returned to savoring the cake.
She shyly nodded before continuing to savor the cake. I just sat there watching her with amusement until she suddenly turned to me and held out a spoonful. "Here you go, Master!"
Snapping out of my thoughts, I smiled. "Thank you, Luna-chan."
I accepted the bite, and we shared a few more intimate moments together. Eventually, after finishing the cake, we headed back to our room hand in hand.
Once inside, we changed into more comfortable nightclothes. I lay beside Luna, pulling her into my arms.
Before closing my eyes, I placed a soft goodnight kiss on her lips.
"Good night, Luna," I murmured.
Feeling her snuggle closer, I heard her whisper back, "Good night, Master."
With her soft body pressed against mine, I drifted off to sleep.
(A/N: That was quite a challenge. But Hey, these 6000 words were definitely worth it. Hope you all enjoyed this chapter as much as I did writing it. See you all in the next one!)
