Chapter 21: Chapter 21
"Hello Lilinite, I brought you some snacks, now take Nellie out for some fun! " Fiander escorted Reinhard and the two of them to Starrk's domain, handing a handbag over to Lilinite, the assistant of Starrk's divided soul creation.
Given her childlike appearance, she naturally exhibits a playful spirit, injecting a dose of amusement into Starrk's otherwise dreary existence due to his moody demeanor.
Interestingly, Reinhard had previously introduced Nelliel to her, leading them to become friends so as to avoid disrupting Fiander and Starrk's ongoing discussions, which frequently faced interruptions.
With the large bag of snacks in hand, Lilinite grasped Nelliel's hand joyfully, and the two small figures dashed outside.
"Well, it's been a while since I last saw you, Fiander. "
"By the way, the BOSS instructed you to oversee the Night Palace, and you left without permission. Is that acceptable? I've heard that Uquiorra has quite a few grievances regarding you."
As usual, Stark appeared lethargic, slumped in his chair and reluctant to move, mirroring Fiander's demeanor.
"Master Aizen won't mind, plus with you present, the Palace will remain trouble-free. Let me linger in this vast Palace all day, with every chamber being empty, oh so boring. " Fiander didn't hesitate to conjure up an adequate rationale for his indolence before settling onto a cushion, with Reinhard following suit.
"Speaking of which, your seldom-seen subordinate possesses Reiatsu that rivals that of the current Espada. " After Fiander settled in, Starrk directed his gaze at Reinhard.
After more than two centuries of training and consuming numerous Adjuchas, Reinhard successfully ascended to the Vasto Lorde tier as he desired.
Later, Aizen employed the power of Hōgyoku to assist Reinhard in achieving Arrancarization, thus promoting him to the level of advanced combat prowess.
Ultimately, among all Arrancars, only six individuals attained the Vasto Lorde designation in Menos Grande, comprising the first four Espada, along with Fiander and Reinhardt.
"Hahaha, no way! This guy is utterly foolish, I can't instruct him no matter what, and he's lazy too. It took considerable effort for me to help him reach a breakthrough! "
Fiander patted Reinhard's back with a boisterous hand, akin to a parent showcasing their child to others. Reinhard felt a strong sense of embarrassment because while Fiander genuinely invested time into him, his own laziness proved often troublesome.
Aside from the initial stages when he instructed him extensively, ever since Fiander could visit the human realm, he frequently became elusive and rarely contacted Reinhard unless in pressing situations.
"I must say, your demeanor leaves much to be desired. How can you be such an indolent Arrancar, avoiding others in times of difficulty? "
"Hahaha! You're just like me. Let's refrain from discussing one another! "
"Ha ha ha ha--"
Once Fiander and Starrk exchanged glances, laughter erupted between them! Ultimately, only those who appreciate the same things can truly be referred to as "best friends"!
In an instant, Kurosaki Ichigo regained his Shinigami powers and took his close allies, Ishida Uryu, Sado Yasutora, and Inoue Orihime, to the Soul Society to rescue Rukia.
That evening, an astonishing incident unfolded in the Soul Society. After Kurosaki Ichigo triumphed over Abarai Renji, the vice captain of the 6th division, the head captain convened a meeting among the captains, first instructing them to unleash their Zanpakutō in the Seireitei and combat with all their might.
Furthermore, all vice-captains were prohibited from returning to their barracks at night and were required to patrol in groups. This directive was issued for two primary motives. One reason was to prevent a situation where a vice-captain was defeated alone by a terrorist.
The other reason stemmed from an urgent order from Central 46, demanding the Gotei 13 to swiftly apprehend these terrorists. Consequently, that night, the entire Seireitei was filled with soldiers patrolling with torches.
It wasn't until dawn the next morning that the duty personnel began to rotate. At that moment, in the dormitory of the fifth team captain, Hinamori Momo awoke abruptly, having spent the previous night in Aizen's quarters, observing his work, and inadvertently dozing off.
Upon waking, she discovered she was wrapped in the coat Aizen had worn while working the night before.
"What a kind captain! "
Clutching Aizen's coat with both hands, Hinamori Momo exhibited a pleased expression and quickly hurried to the location where the vice-captains were gathering, muttering to herself as she ran:
"Honestly! The captain should've woken me."
"I wonder if I can make it to the scheduled assembly on time today. " As she trotted along, Hinamori Momo finally reached the gathering place just before the assembly bell rang.
While passing an intersection, she instinctively glanced back. A sudden sense of dread filled her heart, and as Hinamori Momo slowly turned her head, her piercing screams echoed throughout the entire gathering area.
"Aaaaaaahh----! ! ! "
"What's happening! ? That cry just now? "
"It seems to be. . . Hinamori's voice! " Hinamori Momo's voice immediately drew the attention of the vice-captains who had already gathered. Then Kira Iziru, Matsumoto Rangiku, Sagi Shuhei, and other vice-captains rushed over in haste.
"Hinamori, what's wrong ? " Kira, who was the first to arrive, gazed anxiously at the pale-faced Hinamori Momo, but she stood there in silence, offering no response.
As Kira Iziru and the others followed Hinamori Momo's gaze, they were met with a chilling sight: Aizen Sōsuke, the captain of the Fifth Division, was impaled against the wall by his own Zanpakutō, blood gradually trickling from the handle of the blade. It was an utterly shocking image.
"Captain. . . Aizen actually. . . "
"Captain Aizen! ! ! " Hinamori Momo finally regained her composure and let out a piercing scream. She collapsed to the ground, weeping helplessly.
The vice-captains nearby glanced at the petite girl, their faces reflecting concern.
"What's going on? It's quite noisy this early. "
At that moment, an ill-timed voice broke the silence, drawing everyone's attention. Ichimaru Gin, the captain of the Third Division, approached with a squinted smile, first observing the spot where Aizen fell, then remarked in a peculiar tone:
"Oh? This is quite a spectacle. "
Hinamori Momo looked at the grinning Ichimaru Gin, the warnings Tōshirō had repeatedly voiced echoing in her mind:
"Be wary of the Third Division, especially when Aizen is out alone. "
Her focus narrowed, and all she could see was Ichimaru Gin, whose figure loomed large within her vision, leading her to the conclusion that he was the one responsible for Aizen's death.
"Was it you? "
Before anyone could respond, tears filled Hinamori Momo's eyes, her expression grew fierce, and she drew her Zanpakutō, charging toward Ichimaru Gin with vengeful intent.
Zhheng! ! !
As her blade swung, Kira Iziru, a close companion, unexpectedly intervened and blocked her attack.
"Kira? Why are you stopping me? "
"I am the vice-captain of the Third Division! Regardless of the circumstances, I can't allow anyone to confront my captain with a weapon," Kira Iziru declared firmly, maintaining his hold on his Zanpakutō.
In response, Ichimaru Gin sneered and turned away, dismissive of the unfolding situation between them. When Hinamori Momo realized the suspect she had accused was about to walk away, she cried out in anguish:
"Please, step aside! Kira! "
Kira Iziru, also a vice-captain, could only shake his head with a resigned expression at his best friend's plea, unwilling to yield.
As Ichimaru Gin's figure receded farther, Hinamori Momo's gaze grew determined. Taking a few steps back while gripping her Zanpakutō with both hands, she recited:
"Rebound! TOBIUME! " Upon invoking her Zanpakutō, a pink aura enveloped the blade, and two additional branches extended from it.
In an instant, a massive fireball launched from the sword, striking Kira Iziru directly at close range, creating a plume of smoke and debris that caused everyone to shield their faces with their arms.
Only Ichimaru Gin remained unscathed, casually resting his hands in his cuffs while the captain's haori billowed behind him in the shifting air.
