After hearing Sasuke's voice, Karin slowly opened her eyes. Remembering everything that had happened the day before, she almost thought it was all just a dream.

"No… I'm fine," Karin said with a shake of her head.

Then, instead of heading directly for the central tower, Sasuke began to wander the Forest of Death with Karin in tow. She didn't ask why; she simply followed obediently.

Nearing noon, Sasuke finally stopped walking. He had been waiting for someone.

A giant brown-patterned python slithered out of the jungle, its tongue flicking as it hissed at them.

Karin instinctively flinched, but calmed when she saw the unwavering expression on Sasuke's face.

"Hadō #63: Raikōhō."

Sasuke raised his right palm. A brilliant flash of yellow lightning surged forth, and a thunderous blast erupted from his hand. The bolt pierced through the python's gaping maw and exploded out its back, leaving a gaping hole. The massive serpent collapsed to the ground, smoke and the scent of charred meat rising from its corpse.

"Hehehe… impressive."

A figure stepped out from behind a large tree—wearing a Kusagakure shinobi's hat, a wicked smile curling across his lips as his long tongue slithered out to lick the corner of his mouth.

"Drop the act, Orochimaru. You can't fake that cold, rotting chakra of yours," Sasuke said coolly, eyes narrowed.

Orochimaru's brows lifted in amusement before he peeled off his false human face.

"I didn't expect Sasuke-kun to be this perceptive."

Apparently, Orochimaru had taken the time to dig into Sasuke's background after their last encounter.

"I've been waiting for you," Sasuke said flatly. "So, have you thought it over? Ready to make a deal?"

"Hehehe… I wonder what terms Sasuke-kun intends to offer for such precious research data?" Orochimaru purred.

"Kill Danzo. Once I confirm his death, I'll hand over the data. But the results must be shared between us."

Danzo's continued existence meant constant threat to the Uchiha. If he were eliminated, even Sarutobi Hiruzen's support would be too little to stabilize the old elders left behind.

At Sasuke's words, Orochimaru's grin faded.

"Sasuke-kun… did you know Danzo is one of my longest-standing allies? You want me to kill a friend? And share the research? Seems like you want all the reward with none of the risk."

Sasuke's chuckle was sharp and humorless.

"Friend? Please. When your crimes were exposed, Danzo disavowed you immediately. He sent Root to kill you. And let's be clear—I am paying. Without my data, you'd never advance your experiments to the next stage. Shared results are only fair."

"Hehehe… Sasuke-kun, you just destroyed the experimental lab I set up in Rice Country, and now you want to bargain with me? Aren't you worried I'll kill you where you stand?"

As Orochimaru finished, a wave of murderous intent radiated from him. Karin's knees buckled under the pressure, and sweat poured from her face as she stood paralyzed.

"If you think you can, try it."

Sasuke released the full weight of his Reiatsu in response. The trees around them rustled violently from the competing pressures, and Karin gasped as Orochimaru's killer intent was neutralized. She could move again.

The two forces clashed evenly. Sasuke had expected to be at a disadvantage, but even he was surprised by the potency of his spiritual pressure.

Orochimaru struck suddenly. Snakes burst forth from his sleeve and hissed toward Sasuke.

"Back off," Sasuke said to Karin. He drew his Zanpakutō and sliced through the swarm of snakes in rapid strokes, cutting them into ribbons.

"Good. I needed someone to test my power on," Sasuke muttered. "Bakudō #73: Tozanshō."

A glowing inverted pyramid of energy encased Karin in a protective barrier. Then Sasuke slid a crimson mask onto his face—one with a demonic grin.

During their last battle, when Orochimaru transformed into his Yamata no Orochi form, Sasuke had been unable to gauge his own true power. But here, within the Forest of Death—where Orochimaru wouldn't dare reveal his trump card so openly—he could finally assess his strength.

He didn't bother suppressing the thirst for combat this time. His spiritual pressure soared, snapping branches and rustling leaves in a vortex around him.

Orochimaru watched Sasuke's transformation with intense fascination.

"Hahahaha… stay still! Bakudō #61: Rikujōkōrō!"

Six golden rods of light pinned Orochimaru in place. Sasuke flashed forward in a blur and slashed.

Orochimaru's body split in two—but a moment later, a new body slithered out from the mouth of the old one. He spat out a sword into his hand—the Kusanagi.

Orochimaru lunged forward and clashed with Sasuke's blade. "Heh… my Kusanagi can't be blocked by common ninja steel."

Sasuke tilted his head, narrowly dodging the sudden extension of the Kusanagi blade. He had anticipated that.

The Kusanagi's ability was similar to Gin Ichimaru's Shinsō, but far slower in extension. It was like a watered-down version. Sasuke was curious which was harder: the sharpness of the Kusanagi or his own blade.

"Is that so? Because my Zanpakutō isn't something you can block—Scatter, Senbonzakura!"

Sasuke's blade dissolved into a cloud of countless petal-like blades and surged toward Orochimaru.

Swish swish!

Orochimaru vanished, leaving a summoned snake to take the hit—its body shredded in an instant. He reappeared in the distance.

"Nice substitution," Sasuke said. "But can you keep up?"

The cherry blossom blades reformed into a katana. Sasuke raised it.

"Shoot to kill—Shinsō!"

The blade extended with blinding speed. Six years of training had tripled its velocity. Even with the Sharingan, Orochimaru barely had time to react. The blade pierced his shoulder—missing his heart only because of the range.

"Heh… I really did underestimate you," Orochimaru said. He formed seals in a blur. "Wind Style: Breakthrough!"

A massive gale burst from his mouth—tornado-force winds that tore through the forest. Despite being a C-rank jutsu, the sheer chakra he pumped into it elevated it to A-rank devastation.
