Chapter 125: Hybrids

Ezekiel read through the books which gave him a few insights but it was mostly information he already knew.

He was speed reading to find anything involving the information on mana veins but when he checked the first few pages of each chapter he didn't really find anything.

In the second book he saw more information on affinity but as he read more of each page he noticed that this book was no more informative than the others.

The third book he checked was primarily involving mana circulation through the body.

Eventually he turned back to the young devil girl and asked for more help.

"Hey so I'm an otherworlder... obviously... would you be willing to give me an idea of what I'm looking for? My elemental core was a reward from an evolution but I don't know how it works."

Those feline eyes looked up at his shrouded face before she smiled.

"Of course I would love to help, I guess you want to know how to make your mana veins have an affinity right?"

He nods.

"Well I will give you a hint because it's better to learn these things yourself, you have to learn how your affinity saturated your body and the way to manipulate it."

'Manipulation of my affinity huh?'

As he used his mana sight to examine his body he realized that the way his elemental affinities saturated his body were very strange.

He saw that the life affinity swirled through his body evenly but it appeared quite thin while the shadow affinity was dense and even, it heavily reminded him of looking at his skin.

He noticed that small streams of purple poison element were flowing through his body, the fact that it still moved without obscuring anything made this the element he focused on.

The element swirled through his muscles the same way his mana had before he figured out how to make his mana flow through his veins.

He started to channel his affinities the way he channeled them into raw mana, he pushed them into the mana veins to make it flow with his raw mana but he soon realized it would not work since he would need to keep the raw mana separate from the element.

Sitting in the proper lotus position he began to meditate on what he was seeing.

He looked for different ways to make his element flow through his veins without spilling into the raw mana and the more he searched the less he saw.

He was about to look at the books again until he realized that he was ignoring some of the mana that actually made up his veins but did not fill them.

He saw that the mana he has used to convert his circulatory system into a mana factory was actually still raw mana.

'Could that actually work?'

He began to infuse his affinities into the mana that made up his circulatory system but as soon as he let it go they element started to flow back to his muscles.

He knew he was on the right track but he chose to take a break and let his mind work through this information, besides he had a nice girl to thank for the help.

When he opened his eyes the devil girls slitted eyes were inches from his own and she had a very... odd expression.

"Are you a half breed?"

When he was about to question her he realized that he could see her without the haze in his view.

"Oh crap..."

"Crap?"

"Uh... I let my mask fall..."

"Yeah that mask looked really suspicious cutie but now I can see why you wore it, you would be a model you know that?"

She had an obnoxiously charming smile on her face as she leaned forward with her weight resting on her paws.

"Yeah I get it, I'm unnaturally attractive to the infernal women but I did not ask to be attractive to women that think it's ok to just lay claim to any random male."

As he says this she looks at him strangely before giggling.

"Oh right, otherworlder. I almost forgot because every male in our world is more than happy to join a coven and be loved... cared for."

"Yeah getting cared for may be a pleasant thing but if it means you are treated like your opinions don't matter or being told you don't deserve to have the gifts you have due to being nothing but a male, then I refuse to be in one of those covens."

"Wait... someone didn't actually say those things right? Who would say you don't deserve what you have just because you're male?"

He scoffs loudly and shakes his head.

"A young coven, one of them in particular spent her whole time screaming at me for having a powerful affinity."

She looked very concerned now as she got to her knees beside him, she went to grab his hand but he pulled it away.

"Listen ok? That girl? She doesn't deserve to say anything about people and if she were reported then the queen's laws would be enforced."

"What laws?"

"Well for example those thag would abuse the members of their coven will be punished with the removal of their horns."

"That seems... like a weird punishment."

"Horns are a source of pride for the infernal but they also have a magical aspect as you evolve."

"Yeah? What do your horns do as you evolve huh?"

He was treating her words dismissively but the fact that the horns became important as you evolved was catching his attention.

"Well at the start it just gives a new skill. The archdemon and archdevil species will gain the 'infernal horns' skill that makes your magical strength grow."

He nods but it seemed like there was more so he just continued listening.

"Another aspect of the skill is that when you evolve to the Greater Archdevil the skill will start to absorb more of your affinity to give it another boost."

'Another affinity boost huh? I wonder how many boost to the affinity the infernals actually get?'

"The horns increase your affinity to a specific element and the element will be the one you are most connected to."

He thought about it for a bit but the thoughts kept returning to his mana veins quest.

"If the horns increase affinity and the core increases affinity then what do the veins do?"

"The veins increase the efficiency of using elemental mana."

He nods along as he listens to her before he finally stands up.

"You said they won't be gone forever so how about we go somewhere that won't have people staring? You brought up the fact that you can't go bare...paw unless you're alone so where do you normally go?"

She frowns but soon she starts to giggle.

"Barepaw, I like that. My coven is where I am the most safe but for now they are busy, the reason I cannot show my... impurities, is that the our people tend to be opposed to mating with other races unless it is for the sake of increasing our magical prowess."

"So they do arranged marriages or something?"

"No but there are specific races that are seen as acceptable, if you are born to a race that is not on that list then you better hope you were born with a rare elemental affinity inherited from the parent who wasn't infernal."

He looks her in the eye expectantly.

"What?"

"Were you able to inherit an affinity?"

She smirked and in her palm a spark of electricity appeared.

"I don't want anyone to know, I want to earn the respect of others rather than getting treated like I'm better just because of my affinity." Stay tuned for updates on My Virtual Library Empire

She sighed and began to put her shoes back on which heavily resembled the shoes that Lucretia actually wore, high heeled boots that made it look like she had extreme height preferences but in reality she just had the base of the heel under her ankle like any shoeless.

"Hey those shoes look familiar, where do you get them from?"

"Oh these? It's actually very easy to get shoes that would be modified to fit you properly. Parents tend to teach their obviously halfborn children how to do certain tasks that would allow them to hide these features."

"That's actually really sweet."

"Yeah my mothers learned different skills like cobbling and sewing to keep us safe, I only had the paws and since slitted eyes are fairly common amongst infernals I could learn to make my own shoes."

She lifted the other shoe to show off how it looked exactly like a high heel that a normal woman would wear.

As she finished putting the other shoe on she motioned for him to follow her.

"Come on I'll show you to my home and let you meet my coven, you'll see why I feel safe with them and I'll make sure you don't feel like you are hated by every woman the way that other crazy bitch did."
