Chapter 13: Chapter 12
A man with black hair was taken—no, stolen—from the world he once knew.
Kidnapped and dragged into the sterile, nightmare-lit halls of the White Laboratory, he was strapped down. Cold, pitiless hands began to tear him apart—not with malice, but with calculated precision. His flesh was sliced, organs removed, and metal pieces replaced the essence of what once made him human.
He screamed.
He begged.
But his voice gradually faded.
His vocal cords were replaced. His brain was modified. His soul… muted.
And eventually, there was silence.
He no longer remembered his name.
He no longer remembered words.
He no longer remembered who he was.
Only the coldness remained. A mechanical instinct. Orders burned into his cybernetic core.
Like a ghost drifting in limbo, he wandered the halls of the laboratory—silent, soulless, and empty.
Until Sabine appeared.
She turned a corner. Saw the figure of a pale man with black hair and hollow, flickering eyes.
He moved like a shadow. Then I lunged.
Sabine gritted her teeth and drew a shock baton, slamming it into his side.
The electricity surged through both of them.
CRACK—!
The hallway filled with sparks as the man twitched violently—his body reacting unnaturally. His systems glitched. The overload knocked both of them unconscious.
Somewhere in the void of sleep…
The man dreamed.
He saw light.
He saw… a family? A dog? Laughter?
He saw a little sister.
He couldn't make sense of it. But it hurt.
It hurt.
He gasped awake.
"Gahhhh—!"
His breathing was erratic. Like he had lungs again. Like he was alive—and he didn't know what that meant.
His eyes darted around. Flashing red lights. Sirens. Screams.
The laboratory was in chaos.
"Where… am I…?"
His voice cracked like a broken speaker. Each word stung his throat.
"…Who am I?"
He caught his reflection on the polished floor—half-man, half-machine. Silver veins, exposed ports, blinking nodes embedded in flesh.
"…I… what am I…"
Elsewhere…
Sabine grunted, shifting the unconscious body of Topaz onto her shoulder.
Rondo staggered forward, carrying the bloodied Baynard on his back.
"We need to get to the mechs before these things spill into the open!" Sabine barked.
The ground shook beneath them. The screeches of unleashed Kaiju echoed from the depths.
Sabine pressed her communicator.
"Sabine! We are on our way!" a voice answered.
It was Sora.
"Copy that!" she replied, breathless.
The team reached the launch hangar, where their towering machines awaited.
"Load them onto the prisoner pods!" Sabine ordered, pointing to the storage capsules built into the backs of their units.
They worked quickly.
Sabine climbed into the Stelvane, the signature Blue Deathster unit—its sleek blue armor humming as its systems activated.
The eyes of Stelvane lit up with icy fire.
"Engaging combat systems."
[ROAAAAAAAAARRRRRR!!!]
The earth cracked as a giant Kaiju emerged from the flaming wreckage of the laboratory—molten flesh, jagged spikes, and eyes like glowing furnaces.
Sabine locked on.
"Let's dance."
She fired.
BOOM—BOOM—BOOM!
The Kaiju reeled back, but retaliated with a blast of searing magma. The beam struck Sabine's shield, sending sparks and heat across the battlefield.
"Damn it—!"
The Stelvane skidded back but held firm.
Then the ground trembled again.
From the shattered foundation of the White Laboratory, five more Kaijus erupted—towering beasts of varying shapes and deadly powers.
Their roars filled the sky like war drums.
Sabine's heart pounded.
"Oh no…"
She gripped the controls tighter as Rondo's and Sora's units flanked her.
The battle wasn't over.
It was only just beginning.
