Born as Gojo Satoru Cousin

Chapter 19: Choosing a Cursed Tool

Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School, commonly known as Tokyo Jujutsu High, is one of only two jujutsu educational institutions in Japan dedicated to nurturing the next generation of Jujutsu Sorcerers.

Tokyo Jujutsu High is a spacious institution with several buildings constructed in traditional Japanese architecture style, operating under the guise of a Buddhist temple.

The school building is well-hidden on the outskirts of Tokyo, far and high in the mountains. It's surrounded by trees, further obscuring its location.

Apart from the buildings, other elements reflect the Buddhist theme. There are statues of deities, shrines, and torii gates around the school.

There are multiple entrances to the school, and the entire property is concealed by protective barriers managed by Master Tengen, residing underground in the Star Burial Corridor.

The school grounds include training areas, courtyards, dormitories, classrooms, among various other facilities.

"It's very quiet."

That's Eiji's first impression of Tokyo Jujutsu High School.

"After all, Jujutsu Sorcerers are a minority. Hey, Eiji, you look healthy~"

Satoru appears behind Eiji, pats his shoulder, and greets him casually.

"Aren't you busy, Satoru Nii-san?" Eiji turns around and asks.

"I've taken care of my business. It was just a Special Grade Cursed Spirit; it didn't take long to exorcise. Besides, want some dango? It's delicious~"

Satoru opens a new dango package and offers it to Eiji.

"Thank you."

Taking the dango in front of him, Eiji immediately eats it.

Ijichi is left speechless, hearing him casually say that exorcising a Special Grade Cursed Spirit is an easy task.

"Follow me; I'll take you to the warehouse."

"Sure."

Leaving Ijichi at the torii gate, Satoru takes Eiji away.

"I heard you encountered some trouble on the way."

Satoru has received Ijichi's report, so he knows about the previous attack.

"It's not worth mentioning."

"Fair enough."

Not concerned about Eiji's safety at all, Satoru discusses trivial things like his recent favorite candy store and so on.

Along the way, Eiji observes students sparring on the field.

He doesn't recognize any of them from Lin Fan's memories, meaning their roles are insignificant in the plot. Knowing this, Eiji no longer pays attention to them.

"We're here," Says Satoru, throwing a bamboo skewer into the ground.

In front of them is an old warehouse covered in dozens of talismans, giving it the appearance of a haunted house.

With his Six Eyes, Eiji knows that these talismans are not just decorations but seals suppressing the Cursed Energy emanating from the Cursed Tools stored in the warehouse.

"Let's go in; choose your weapon."

Opening the warehouse door, Satoru enters first, followed by Eiji.

Although it looks old and unmaintained from the outside, the warehouse's interior remains clean without any dust. There are over 70 weapons hanging on the walls.

Katanas, scythes, knives, bows and arrows, spears, staffs, etc.

"It looks like a lot, but most of the Cursed Tools are Grade 3. I suggest you choose a Special Grade Cursed Tool."

Satoru guides Eiji to the section with Special Grade Cursed Tools.

There aren't many Special Grade Cursed Tools; there are only six weapons.

"Will this be okay? It must be expensive, right?" asks Eiji.

Powerful Cursed Tools are indeed valuable. Their prices can range from five hundred thousand yen to over five hundred million yen.

"No problem. As the current head of the family, I can use the Gojo Family's funds as much as I want. No need to discuss it with other elders. Consider this an investment from the Gojo Family to you, Eiji."

Satoru puts his hand on his hip, raises his chin, and says with a thin smile.

"Okay, then. I won't refuse." Eiji nods, steps forward, and examines each Special Grade Cursed Tool.

"What's this?"

He points to a three-part staff connected by three rings between the weapon joints.

Playful Cloud!

Of course, Eiji knows the name of that Cursed Tool. The reason he asked was to avoid looking strange because he already knew it from the first glance.

"You have a good eye, Eiji. That's Playful Cloud. It's the only Special Grade Cursed Tool not equipped with a Cursed Technique. Instead, Playful Cloud's power depends on the raw strength of its user. Playful Cloud is best utilized by those with extraordinary physical abilities rather than those with a lot of Cursed Energy."

When discussing Playful Cloud, Satoru can't help but remember his fight against Fushiguro Toji.

(Heavenly Restriction on Eiji is similar to that guy's)

He looks forward to Eiji having physical strength equivalent to Toji's.

Currently, Eiji is still in the growth stage; his body hasn't developed perfectly, and he can't maximize the full potential of his Heavenly Restriction.

"Playful Cloud is very compatible with you. In my opinion, it's the best choice for you."

"No. I don't like this type of weapon."

Taking Playful Cloud, Eiji tries to use it. After trying, he puts it back in its place.

Satoru sees that Eiji is very skilled at moving Playful Cloud as if it's already a part of his body. However, since Eiji doesn't want to use Playful Cloud, he doesn't force him.

"So, what kind of weapon are you guessing? Let me guess, a katana?"

"Um."

"Whistle~ As expected, Eiji is still a kid."

Satoru didn't expect there to be a childish side to Eiji. Moreover, the boy always looks calm and not at all like a typical child.

"Hey, Satoru Nii-san. Are there any Cursed Tools with characteristics similar to Playful Cloud? The power of Cursed Tools depends on the raw strength of the user."

Shifting his gaze from the Cursed Tools, Eiji looks at his cousin and asks.

"In that case, I suggest you choose this one." Satoru takes a katana and explains, "This Cursed Tool is called Grass Sword. Setting aside its bad name, it has two abilities. The first is its extremely light weight, as it weighs no more than a thin twig. The second ability is summoning the wind to aid the user's slashes by letting it blow in a storm that can easily split and cut buildings from a distance."

Seeing Eiji's doubtful expression, Satoru adds, "To be able to use Grass Sword, the user must have a large amount of Cursed Energy to activate the second ability. In my opinion, the first ability is very suitable for someone with your superhuman physical abilities."

"Got it."

Eiji catches the Grass Sword suddenly thrown by Satoru.

"So that's it. The first ability is passive."

He didn't do anything, but the Grass Sword feels incredibly light, as if it's not a katana but a tree branch.

"With my Cursed Energy capacity, I can only activate the Grass Sword's second ability twice."

Eiji speculates based on the Cursed Energy he channels into the Grass Sword to activate its second ability.

"How about it, do you like it?"

"Um. I choose this one."

"That's good. By the way, the Grass Sword's price is 300 million yen."

"Oh, is it quite cheap?"

Eiji is aware of the average price of Special Grade Cursed Tools starting from 500 million yen.

"Playful Cloud is even cheaper, only 50 million yen. Moreover, both the Grass Sword and Playful Cloud can showcase their true power in the right hands. So, these two Cursed Tools are less popular compared to other Special Grade Cursed Tools." Satoru shrugs and explains.

"So that's how it is." Eiji nods in understanding.

The second ability of the Grass Sword sounds powerful, but not all Jujutsu Sorcerers can use it. Even among Grade 1 Jujutsu Sorcerers, not all of them have enough Cursed Energy to activate it.

Half of Eiji's Cursed Energy is indeed taken as payment for the Heavenly Restriction, but compared to half of Satoru's Cursed Energy, it's a small fraction.

If Eiji is compared to other Jujutsu Sorcerers, his amount of Cursed Energy far exceeds Grade 1 Jujutsu Sorcerers.

After choosing the Grass Sword, Eiji leaves Tokyo Jujutsu High.

Carrying the sheathed katana on his back, he walks.

He refuses Ijichi's offer to escort him home.

It's still early; Eiji wants to take a stroll.
